Hotel Banys Orientals

Having just returned from Barcelona, I must say that yes, this hotel is beautifully decorated but design isn't everything! Rooms have a cool ambience, lovely soft colouring and nice furniture (the bed is great) but the lightning in bathrooms is way too poor and why are there no hooks for the towels in the bathroom? The main problem, however, is the noise. Noise from the neighbours, noise from doors slamming all the time, noise from the street. My husband & I stayed here from 21st to 26th Aug 2005 & again on 30th Aug for one night and were absolutely thrilled with the hotel! For 95 euros per night it was a complete steal- the hotel itself is very stylish, swanky interior set in a beautiful old building in the trendy El Borne district in Barcelona. We were very excited to stay at the Banys Orientals after looking at the website and reading so many positive reviews. When we arrived, we were pleased to see that the hotel corresponded to the pictures online. It was very stylish, very much a boutique hotel. Stayed at the bayans oriental in barcelona for 2 nights. For €35 euros per person it was more like a 4 1/2 star not a 3. The rooms were lovely and clean and the showers, the biggest I have seen. Its in a great part of town and worth a stay

I stayed there in March 2005 and had a great time there. Rooms are very well designed but a bit small. Service is outstanding. The breakfast is also fine with a great choice. I would definitely stay there again

This hotel is a real gem! It has character and style. The room we stayed in for 3 nights was nicely decorated in grey, taupe and black colours, that we happen to love. The ambiance in the room was cosy and comfortable. The bed was pretty good considering that we have the best of beds at home. We particularly asked for a quiet room and we got just that! We stayed in an apartment which was great - the rooms were very stylish (as nice as a 5* hotel) with a gorgeous bathroom and huge shower, although it did lack the facilities of a higher class hotel. There are no English TV channels at all - not even CNN or BBC World - nor a radio which meant that we had to get on well and keep the conversation going! For 95e, you'd expect a no-frills, generic, blah hotel. But this hotel exceeded my expectations by far! (their website truly represents its atmosphere ---) I wouldn't want to trade in it's "boutique" status, but I wish there was a chain of these hotels all over the world. First of all, the location was prime, about 100 steps from the Jaume 1 metro stop in the Barri Gotic. We stayed in a suite at this hotel for 2 nights. Actually the suites are located steps from the actual hotel. We were surprised at how stylish and spacious the suite was. It was modern yet retained some of the medieval charm. The bathroom was very new and clean, there was a flat screen TV, free bottled water, beautiful minimalist decor. Great position in a beautiful street, well placed for metro/ garage parking/ sightseeing and the cool decor are the pluses for this hotel, good air conditioning and a fairly good breakfast also. However, I am surprised at some of the rave reviews, the rooms are very small and if I had to spend more than one night there I would go crazy, having to squeeze around the furniture and trying not to knock into sharp edges!
