I have just returned from a 10 day holiday at Vista Badia Aparthotel with my husband and two children aged 4 and 15 months. We had a fabulous time and would highly recommend this accommodation for families. The hotel has recently been refurbished to a high standard for 2011 and we found the rooms spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. New equipment throughout. Blackout blinds helped the kids to sleep and we heard no noise from the bar even though we were on the top floor directly above. We heard little noise from next door and all the whole we all slept really well. Rooms were maintained very well during our stay and we had a basket of fruit and bottle of water awaiting us on our arrival. TV reception was not excellent but you can get BBC1, BBC2 BBC News Channel and CBEEBIES which was great.
We went half board and felt that the food was excellent -good choice, good quality and plenty of it. We ate well and put on weight whilst we were there. May is a quiet time to visit but it suited us fine there were no queues at mealtimes, no need to put towels on the sunbeds and not too much noise at the bar. The staff were really friendly and good with kids. The kids club was good and kept our eldest entertained most days. He loved the mini disco every evening which was visited by 'Proty'- the hotel mascot which the kids loved. Staff at reception were very helpful if you had any enquiries. If you hire a car through the hotel you get discounts at some of the attractions. The only downside was that the water park La Reserva was closed as the weather was not quite warm enough to heat the water. We were disappointed about this so it's worth keeping in mind if you are thinking of a holiday before June. Paradise Park was great for our 4 year old and the Mini golf was a lot of fun. We did not get a chance to visit the farm but heard it was great. The resort itself was quiet but we found plenty to do - the beach is lovely. Shopping at the nearby Eroski supermarket is cheaper than the Spar next door. We did not eat at the other restaurants as we were very happy with the hotel restaurant. All in all a very enjoyable holiday at an excellent hotel. We are going to recommend it to our friends hoping to come back next year.

We have just come back from 1 weeks holiday and I must say it was one of the best holidays we have had. There were 5 of us 3 being children under 9. The hotel and apartments are very clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. We thought the food was very good, seem to cover everyone's taste and the selection was good. It is in such a good location for the beach and shops. It is not noisy either, the only noise we suffered was children running in the corridors or doors shutting. Overall a really good place to go!

  • Advice: Brilliant holiday with lots to do.

We have just returned from the Vista Badia on 23.10.2008. It is one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in and there is just so much to do there. Besides there pool area and hotel amenities there is also three other sister hotels on the same compelx you can use, a waterpark, a playground (additional to the ones you get in each hotel) and special restaurants such as, Tapa, Italien, Country grill. There is also the Biomar health spa for the adults that looked amazing but as we went with a 18 mth old, we didnt get to use the spa. The hotel is only approx 150 metres to the beach and is actually in a quiet part of the centre of the resort. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. There was just one day when the weather was dull and we used the indoor poor to keep our baby entertained and it was gorgeous. Again very clean and tidy. The hotel was very busy but was so large you were never fighting for sunbeds or tables in the restaurants, there were always plenty. The complex of hotels reminded me of center parcs but abroad. Only one word to sum the holiday up and that is "excellent".
We will definately be going again!!!

Just returned from a week self...

Just returned from a week self catering at the Vista Badia and had a fantastic time. We were worried reading various reviews on this site but needn't have been. All in all there were 3 families travelling together, in each family were two adults and two children between the ages of 3 and 13. We were allocated 3 rooms in a row overlooking the pool area and the rooms were spotless and very comfortable for our needs.
As we were only here for a week we stayed mainly by the pool during the day and ventured out in the evenings for food/entertainment but speaking to various other english speaking visitors the food/entertainment at the hotel was very good, there are several restaurants in the hotel and you can also use the ones at the sister hotels.
On the first day we got up very very early to ensure we had a sunbed but we needn't have bothered. As it was most days we were up by 7.30am to get sunbeds by the pool edge (as having young children with us and there being 12) but there were still sunbeds around as late as 10am so don't rush.
The childrens pool was fairly crowded but ours didn't bother with it and all went in the main pool, the younger ones had arm bands or rubber rings so were fine.
The only downside I would say about the pool is that at the shallow end (which is only a tiny part of the main pool) is where the pool entertainment is, including water polo which sometimes got a little out of hand with the german guests getting a little too rough when the younger children are sharing the same space but this is only for about half an hour a day so our children got out when this was on and then just got back in again.
For breakfast we bought food from the local Spar shop (which is out the front of the reception and turn right, a few hundred yards round the corner), they sell a good range of food.
For lunch we ate at the pool bar and were served by fantastic staff who were more than helpfull. I think most people were AI so every time we ordered they gave us free drinks, icecreams etc as we placed large orders.
For evening meals we ventured out of the hotel and spent most evenings in The Kings Head which is just out of the back gate, turn right and a few hundred yards on the right. We found the food fantastic and the service outstanding. Again as we were a large party we were given free shots etc at the end of the evening. The food was a good price and the entertainment was great. We saw Tina Turner and The Beatles and the kids participated in the Karaoke on one night, the place was very family friendly. They also have bingo every night at 9.30pm and if you call in a certain amount of numbers you win 650 euros, we didn't unfortunately but won outside of the required numbers and got 50 euros on two occasions.
We went on the horse and carriage rides which were 20 euros per carriage, they have four seater bikes which I think were around 10 euros per hour and we walked down to the beach which has spotless white sand although we didn't go during the day so can't say how busy it is. On one occasion we did walk down to the beach and turned right along the beach path and ended at a small adventure park for younger children, harness trampolines, bouncy castle slide, go karts etc.
I would definitely recomend going to this hotel and this resort, looking around the Safari Park Hotel, we are glad we went to the Vista Badia instead as the Safari Park was just a sea of sunbeds by the pool and was so busy.
Unlike previous reports the week that we went I would say there were more english people than german but I guess it's just pot luck. Either way we had no trouble and everyone we came across, English or not were very polite.
We will hopefully be returning next year although we would look into booking direct as we spoke to several people who had done this with no trouble at all and paid a whole lot less than us.

I have just returned from a week at this hotel and would like to warn other guests!!!
Booked in December last year we requested adjoining rooms as it was 2 families travelling. We told that would be fine and arrived to find that we were no where near each other. On the 3 rd night I got a foot infection and spoke to a receptionist and asked if I could just go to the pharmacy and ask waht would be the best option for me. She advised that I should see a doctor immediately but forgot to mention the 110 euro charge!! I was landed with this on check out! I had a mobile phone taken from the room apparently accidently by a maid with the laundry and was advised that it would be returned 2 days later once the laundry was sorted - it never came back and an apology was not forthcoming!!! The waiters bark at the kids if they stray from the all inclusive ice creams! The pool side lunch was covered in flies and the main restaurant buffet served under cooked meat and left overs for lunch from breakfast. The resort is full of extremely arrogant Germans. Although the staff tried to be helpful - they really didnt have a clue about customer service. In all we spent £4000 between 2 families of 4 and found it terrible. We asked for a kettle for our room and were told that only Thomson guests are entitled to kettles!
The hotel itself is extremely clean and well kept but we felt let down with the mobile phone issue, the doctors charge and the terrible food!!

This was our first holiday abroad as...

Aug 2007, Ms B Hunter

This was our first holiday abroad as a family with 3 children, ages 10mths, 4yrs and 9yrs. It was fabulous!
On arrival we were overwhelmed as we walked into the stunning reception area and the staff were very polite and helpful, even at 11pm when we finally arrived at the hotel after long delays at the airport.
The rooms were very spacious and clean and they had even supplied us with a bowl of fruit. Air conditioning superb, we did turn it off at night as it did get rather cold!
Pool area gorgeous and clean, but a fight to get a sunbed (we all know who takes them!) But if you can't beat em, join em!
We booked our holiday as self-catering but upgraded to half board when we got there, we were not disappointed. Food was lovely, and plenty of selection. Different things every night, except for the sweets, they were same every day and quite sickly!
Kids entertainment great and plentiful!
We are booking to go next year! Great holiday, recommended to families!!!

This was our first holiday abroad...

Jul 2007, Miss S Pash

This was our first holiday abroad with the girls (aged 8 and 5) so we were a bit apprehensive, but we all loved Sa Coma. It is a very quiet resort and the beach is beautiful. It was all families so not ideal for older teenagers looking for night life or even couples. There are a few nice restaurants which were cheap and cheerful but didn't find anywhere outstanding.
The Vista Badia was perfect. The room was lovely and was equipped with everything we needed - air co, hairdryer, microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster and a hand blender. There were always plenty of sunbeds available around the pool and the whole pool area was kept very clean. You can also use the facilities in the Safari hotel (across the road). Behind this is a park, trampolines,go karts and a mini golf course.
The only downside to the holiday was that the kids didn't make any friends at the hotel as most of the families were German. But they are more than happy to go back as we have booked again for 10 days in September. We have decided to upgrade to all inclusive when we get there as it is cheaper this way than booking at the time through Thomson (we felt very left out without our wristbands on!!)

Having arrived at 8pm, after a long trip, received a warm welcome. The staff were very friendly, the only drawback was they presumed we were German, and throughout our two week stay, we were spoken to in German.
I had spent a year learning Spanish to use there, only to have the wrong language skills.
This is not a criticism of the hotel, as the whole of Sa Coma and Cala Millor presume, that because you're not Spanish you must be German. There are plenty of British Bars and restaurants, as there are German, and only one or two genuine Spanish eateries.
The food at the Vista Badia is squarely aimed at the German market, and although plentiful, whatever time you each, the food is either cold or tepid. All the staff baring one were very friendly, especially when spoken to in Spanish. Bedding and towels were changed 5 times a week (not Tues or sat).
One of the appealing things was the hotel had a strict NO TOWELS on the sunbeds in a morning. This strict rule was ignored, and you had to be up by 7 if you wanted to beat the Germans to the sunbeds.
The Portus activities included archery and shooting. We found these very very poor. Two bows between 28 people for an hour. We manages to shoot just 6 arrows each in this time. The rifle shooting (Air rifles) again in the one hour period, about the same amount of guest, but this time only shot 4 pellets in the hour.
Free cycles were available, but many have buckled wheels and poor gears and brakes.
One place you must visit while in Sa Coma or Cala Millor is Delaney's, which is between both resorts. The food was second to none; in fact, you would find it impossible to beat the food, drink, and hospitality anywhere on the island.

Me my family and friend absolutely love this hotel.
It is brilliant for people of all ages, I have a 2 12yr old and the go and play in the park and in the pool all day and at night I take them to see the shows which are always brilliant entertainment.
I also have a 17 year old daughter who like most teenagers would rather be in a bar all day, she sunbathes all day the she heads to the kings head which is a bar/ restaurant/ nightclub which is just next door. So it is brilliant for everyone.

The hotel rooms are spacious, which is good and the may be basic but they are very homey and comfortable.

We are going back in august which will be our forth time there and we can’t wait.
We would definitely recommend it to everyone.

The 1 bed apartments are spacious and...

Aug 2005, potshot

1 reader found this review helpful

The 1 bed apartments are spacious and have a 2 ring cooker, fridge and toaster. There is a TV, which has BBC1, euro sports and CNN in English. You have to pay a 10 euro deposit for the TV remote control, keep your receipt because you need it to get your 10 euro’s back. There is a safe that costs 14 euro’s per week to hire and the key they charge a 5 euro’s deposit. The sofa beds are quite hard and beds in the bedroom the mattresses are firm. The fridge was fairly noisy and the air conditioning in the lounge was noisier than the bedroom air conditioning. The air conditioning cooled the room well and often made the bedroom feel quite cold. The first week and a half the maid didn’t clean the apartment as well as it should of been, often the floor wasn’t swept, I had to ask to get the sheets changed on the beds even though they are meant to be changed every 3 days. After a few complaints to reception the cleaning was brought up to a higher standard. The apartment was double glazed and we didn’t experience and disturbance from noise.
We only used the hotel restaurant once and didn’t like the food. There was a reasonable choice and they done theme nights Chinese, Mexican, Italian, and Majorcan. We had Mexican and it was a disappointment.
The pool area is very attractive with plenty of sunbeds, needed to place towels on sunbeds around 9 am for the best ones near the pool to keep an eye on the kids swimming, but you could come out as late 11am and get a sunbed, that was with the hotel full. The last few days you could get a sunbed at anytime and there was no need to put towels out. The one thing that annoyed me was the goals they used for water polo were left out and encouraged the throwing of balls in the pool. It seemed where the goals were was off limits for swimming because there was always 2 or 3 people playing a kind water polo game. I am still trying to work out why people need to play with a ball in the swimming pool. There could be up to 20 balls in the pool at any one time.
The entertainment is the average hotel type you would expect. Had a few professional shows that were not bad. The lion king in German and English was funny to watch. Children enjoyed the shows the most and they held a mini disco for the kids every evening.
Sa Coma this was my third visit and I like the resort because it is small, compact, surrounded by countryside and fairly quite. If you want louder bars there is the Britannia bar and the kings head that stayed open until 3am. If a larger resort is wanted with more life then Cala Millor is a 10 min walk away or 2 mins in a taxi with larger selections of restaurants and nightclubs. There are plenty of bars and restaurants serving cheap food. Example 3 adult 1 children meals, 4 drinks with mixers, 2 soft drinks came to around £25, on average meals were around £4 to £4.50. The beach is soft white sand with lovely crystal clear waters, it shelves gentle and is very suitable for children. The promenade runs from Sa Coma to S’illot and is a nice walk in the evening. There are plenty more bars and restaurants in S’illot which is a 10 min walk along the promenade.

The Vista Badia is very well situated...

The Vista Badia is very well situated in Sa Coma just off the resort centre, 20 metres. The Self catering facilities are minimal but enough as the apartments are very spacious. Sa Coma is a lovely resort situated within walking distance of Cala Millor and Cala Bona. Going towards the end of the season has its benefits as the restaurants bend over backwards to get your custom and therefore prices are very cheap especially the Chinese, e.g. £4 for a 5 course meal. If your going to Sa Coma you must pay a visit to Ronnie at Fools and Horses, The Nags Head, and ‘Al’ at The Outback Bar, to name a few. This lovely resort is well worth the 1 and a half hour transfer time.
