Hotel Antico Doge

This small but charming hotel is located very centrally and within walking distance of the Rialto Bridge. The hotel is very quiet but the moment you step out the front door you are in the heart of Venice. The hotel is situated on a canal and it is possible to get a water taxi from the airport straight to your door - magic! The only grump is that the breakfasts are not brilliant but that is OK - there are plenty of pasticcerias where you can buy good espresso and brioches for little money. What a great little gem, this is! Thanks Trip Advisor! We stayed three nights in the Failer Suite and loved it. The room is beautifully decorated with luxurious material wallpapering, high beamed ceilings, a four poster bed with curtains, a fainting couch, a fireplace (not working obviously), a well-appointed bathroom and a wee patio that overlooks a canal (the two chairs fit on it if you manoeuvre them just right). After reading the reviews on tripadvisor I decided to book the Hotel Antico Doge for a romantic weekend break, my fiance and I were not disapointed. The hotel was lovely, very clean and perfectly located and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative thing we found was there was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room and no room service after 8pm. We visited Venice in late November 2004. The Antico Doge is a lovely hotel, small and easy to find - close to everything but still in a nice quiet location. We didnt see too much of the hotel staff, but those we met were friendly and helpful, and had excellent English. Our room was lovely, right up in the roof - the bathroom was VERY small though, and the roof beams were a bit of a problem in the room for my 6'4" boyfriend - he banged his head several times! We stayed at the Antico Doge during the Christmas holidays 2003 for three nights in the Failer Suite overlooking a small canal (photo is on website --------------). The room was fabulous, beautifully appointed and the location easily accessible to all of the sights yet away from the touristy Piazza San Marco area. We went by other hotels we considered and it was by far the best and in the best location. We would definitely return.

We arrived at The Antico Doge on Dec, 26,2004. We stayed for two nights in the Failer Suite. The room and bathroom was superb! You can view it on their web site. We picked this hotel after reading many reviews on trip advisor. While we were there the city flooded but our hotel was in a perfect location. We bought boots for the flood and had access to everything. Some vistors in the more expensive hotels were stuck at their hotel where water flooded the lobby. Absolutely lovely hotel. Location was EXCELLENT. Only a 5 minute walk from the vaporetto stop (Ca d'Oro). Relatively easy to find upon arrival. Get off at vaporetto stop and walk to the right, come to the small square and it will be on your right, other side of bridge. Would stay here again upon my return to Venice. Bad point: was offered breakfast upon my early arrival and was told that it would be "all right", just to say that it was ok'd by the front desk. The Antico Doge Hotel is located in a small square near the C'Doro vaporetti stop (next stop south is the Rialto stop). It faces a small canal with a little bridge. This is not an overwhelmingly touristy section of town - we felt very at home here, yet close to absolutely everything!!! 5 mins. to the Rialto, 10 mins. to S. Marc's. The Suite Falier was just beautiful - floor to ceiling wall of windows that opened to our own balcony ( the only one the hotel has) with flowers overlooking the water and the square. This little hotel is in very well located and very beautiful. It is provides easy access to all sights. The hotel itself is very beautiful and the breakfast room is enchanting. We had a Jr. Suite with a Canal view. I did feel a little "ripped off" because the view was really just a sliver and the I think we were given a bit of a inferior location given the amount of money we paid. We visited Venice in June, 2004, and had rain on arrival and on/off throughout our stay. The Hotel Antico Doge is located just off the main canal and is surrounded by nice little restaurants, a video/internet cafe, and a pleasant little square that brings out all the locals at night. We had the family suite, which consists of an entry room with a sofa sleeper, and a master bedroom with a Queen and a hideaway.
