Hotel Al Codega

The Hotel Codega is a really great place to stay in Venice. The hotel is in a great location close to everyting. I would recommend a good map or to print one from the hotel's website as this makes the hotel a lot easier to find. I really could not fault this hotel, the rooms were great and the staff really do look after you, nothing is too much trouble. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel and would stay there again if I returned to Venice.

Extremely efficient and friendly exchange of emails when I booked 3 rooms in this superbly furnished and recently opened hotel in the centre of Venice equidistant from Rilato and Piazza San Marco. When our arrival was delayed for 24 hours due to a public transport strike, the hotel made no difficulty, and we commiserated with the manager over one of the difficulties of life in Italy. We really enjoyed Al Codega Hotel. We spent 17 days in Italy and this Hotel was the best out of all the others. It is spotless and nestled between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. 2 blocks away from Piazza San Marco and 3 blocks away from the Rialto Bridge. I traveled with my mother who is an elderly woman and she had no problems with the hotel or walking distance. I would advise you to enter Venice from the airport on a private water taxi. We travelled to Italy for our honeymoon in October and Hotel al Codega in Venice was our first destination. It is right in the middle between St Marks Piazza and the Rialto Bridge so it was a perfect base. It is impossible to find though. We took the wrong alilaguna line from the airport and got off at st marks so when you have cases thats a no no as there are bridges and steps the whole way. Rialto is the best stop to get off at. For first timers to Venice: it is a warren of corridors. Things are very hard to find. This hotel is probably at the top of that list as it is in a courtyard not really on any maps! Go to the website before you arrive and print out their map!!! Now that is said, this is a GREAT hotel. It is located in a courtyard with other apartments. Just back from a fantastic week in Venice - and this hotel made for a perfect base being ideally situated between San Marco and the Rialto. The staff were efficient, friendly and very helpful. The room (a double superior) was lovely, and worth spending a little more for the extra space - we had a sitting area in addition to the bedroom. We stayed 4 nights and had a good experience. The hotel was very clean and updated. Our room was very nice and super clean with lovely textiles and good quality furniture. It was obvious that it had been decorated by a professional. The bathroom was all marble and very modern, but a bit small. The towels were large and thick. The AC worked well. The breakfast was a bit sparse, but not a big deal. This hotel is nicely situated in between the two biggest attractions of Venice (the San Marcos Plaza and the Rialto Bridge). Accommodations are quite nice, breakfast is modest. Be warned that the hotel is almost impossible to find, off a minor alley which is off another minor alley, as if the curvy main paths are all that easy to navigate themselves.

We tried to book late online. We needed two rooms and had trouble finding accommodation. Eventually we phoned Thomsons and they came up with Al Codega so we booked without knowing anything about it. What a great surprise. The location was fantastic close to St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. The hotel was extremely clean, the staff very pleasant and helpful - we stayed five nights and could not have done better. This is a very good hotel, great location. We found the hotel without difficulty having downloaded a map from the hotel website. Overall recommend this hotel highly.
