thought the hotel it self was really good , didnt have any problems with our room apart from the aircon but after informing reception someone was up to check things out and sorted it with no fuse...didnt move once.
The pool area was really nice ,clean and well maintained.
The beach on the hotel part was clean and got swept every morning, only thing was on a our third day there was a mini storm at night and brought alot of sea weed in but settled after a few days ,not a problem though.
we heared alot of petty complaints saying our beach area was poor compared to the rest, so we took a long walk left and right of the hotel and found ours was by far much cleaner and better maintained.
Food- found alot of brits moaning and winging about nothing!!! and i mean nothing!
The food it self was well cooked and alot of choice but bad point was too repetetive ,but still nice!
last point on food if your one of these people that wont try things your parents dont cook or dont cook yourself dont go and choose europe ...you have to at least give things a go...its a international hotel not a british one!
i for one dont mind having fresh cooked pankcakes made in front of me every morning. also people saying they want bacon.....muslim country!!
flies were a problem out side but they did tackle them after complaints but again where theres heat you find flys!

why would you book a holiday in a family hotel if you want to relax in quiet luxury surroundings and then come back and complain it 'wasn't anygood'the hotel is clean and friendly and fun the staff are amazing and can't do enough for you the food like any 3star is hit and miss but you certainly won't starve! i have been for the last three years and ive already been once this year and im going back in three weeks LOVE IT! and love the Tunisians they make more than most would out of what they've got and yes there are SOME flys not millions you are in Africa you know not Wales! at the end of the day if you are looking for fun and relaxaation in big clean safe lifeguarded pools you cant go wrong if you want quit luxury try the Bahamas you get what you pay for me i like to relax have fun and meet new friends and i have made many through this hotel. Fantastic Holiday

My family and I have just arrived back from the Houda yesterday. This is our second time there and it was better than the first so much so that I am going back with my friends again in September and can't wait.
The staff are brilliant they always have time for a nice word and a smile and will do anything to help you. The food was lovely always something to eat whether you are fussy or not and always piping hot.
The hotel is clean and the pool is fantastic! If you want some amazing photo's of your family book a slot one evening with the lads from "cheese photos" they will take loads of professional pictures that look amazing and are only £5 each!!
The Animation team are brilliant whether you are young or old they are always wanting to talk to you and make sure that you have a great holiday. We travelled with a 9 year old who adored all of them, she had a brilliant time in the kids club every day and we felt totally safe leaving her with them and didn't worry about her once. All of the team had all the time in the world for her no matter what else they were doing and went out of there way to make her feel special, she had the best time.
If you are a little older the animation team do a weekly trip out to a nightclub in Sousse which I would completely recommend, they take you there by bus, a free drink is included and they look after you all night making sure that everyone is having a good time and getting involved and then bring you back when you are ready.
All in all we once again had a fantastic holiday and can't wait to go back again 11 weeks and counting!!!!!!

  • Advice: Give it a chance!! Talk to the staff when they speak to you and get involved you will have an brilliant time.

Although I am used to staying at much better quality hotels, this one still ticked boxes! You do get what you pay for, but as always a holiday will be what you make it.
The rooms were basic, but brilliantly clean and well tended to everyday by our maid (how much time do you spend in there anyway?)
The food was basic, but edible and we always found something to eat every meal time - my son (5) loved the food even though he lived off pasta, pancakes and icecream.
The staff were always polite and friendly, particularly if you were to them - a smile and hello goes a long way.
Kids club entertainment, both during the day and the evening was fantastic, however, we did have our son with us most of the time having great fun around the pool and on the slides.
The only down side to the holiday were some of the other holiday makers, who were rude, dirty and loud - not all though, we met some lovely people there who we have kept in touch with. But as usual some of the Brits on holiday let you down!
I will be going back Summer 2011, it is the holiday my son raves about the most above all the others and I can't really complain about anything that the Houda had to offer.

  • Advice: Be friendly and polite to staff if you expect them to be to you, and a tip will help - they get paid very little!

Back from Houda, perfecting nice place, rooms adequate but only slept in there so never should be much of a problem. Pools where brilliant never had to fight for sun bed. The staff friendly at all times and the animation team Cheeky and entertaining. Only downs for me was that was all a little bit out the way and not much to do in the evenings if the entertainment was not to your liking to be fair was only 1 night. Food was repative but was always paste and pizzas made fresh infront of you so plenty to eat. All in all decent holiday. J

we have just got back from the houda what a nightmare. it was the holiday from hell the food was diabolical the entertainment was boring the drinks were watered down and nasty. The bar ran out of beer and brandy at 10pm twice the sandwhich fillings at the pool bar ran out on several occasions.Flies were everywere landing on food ect cats constantly roamed around the restaurant while we were eating the place was a joke i would say it is a 2 star at a push. After complaining to the manager about the food drinks ect i was advised it is all down to the tour operator who only pay the hotel £10.00 per day for food and drink not my problem i paid good money for this holiday but curse the day i booked. I have written a formal complaint to thompson and await my reply. My advise is stay away from this hotel unless you want to be ill bored and starving. I couldn't wait to get away every other guest was also complaining

Lovely hotel - shame about the type of guests!!

We stayed at this hotel 7 years ago and loved every second. We booked a last minute deal to this hotel and have just arrived home. I have to say that the whilst the hotel and staff and wonderful the guests were and are total and utter MUPPETS!! We arrived at the hotel just before midnight and whilst they didn't have our booking it only took 5 minutes to sort out and the room was lovely - clean and spacious. We decided to grab a drink from the disco and then some pizza to be met by a guest screaming abuse at the staff that he wanted chips and not pizza. It was 1.30am. I was disgusted and left to go back to our room. The food was good all week and I always found something to eat despite being an extremely fussy veggie. However guests were constantly complaining that they didn't want to eat seaweed - the seaweed by the way was scrummy spinach. The hotel offers a wind range of food with pizza, baguettes and chips all day by the pool. Ice cream is free for all in the main restaraunt lunch and dinner time. I have to say that some of you really looked like you wouldn't waste away by missing lunch!! The pool is kept very clean despite people leaving dirty nappies, cig butts, spilt drinks and half eaten food - how disgusting and the poor staff - if this was you be ashamed!! The flies were not really a problem around us as we were some of the clean guests.
The beach was lovely and yes full of seaweed but this is not the hotels fault - what would you like them to do to?? Have someone siving the seaweed for you all day?? I think not!! The pedalos ect were free so take advantage.
The trips were ok - the quad biking was good but make sure that you have adequate insurance and costs £20.00 per person for 90 mins. The Figura park was lovely but very expensive for a 2 hour wander and the dolphin show is NOT included and costs an extra £20.00 per adult and £10.00 for a child for 15 minutes and so not worth it. Take lots of change to tip the rangers as they will allow you to have photos handling the animals.
MY TIPS:
TIP the staff at the beginning of the week to expect the best service such as your waiter, maid and bar man. I didn't queue for my drinks and had as many as I wanted and this cost me a grand total of 20dn (£10.00) for a week - well worth it.
So, I would go back again but would dread seeing all the guests who think all inclusive is drink and eat as much as you can before you pass out abusing and insulting staff on the way. Please cover up in the retsraunt and do not abuse the staff when they politely ask you to. Please and thankyous go along way - something I did not hear very often!! Please also control your children and do not allow them to run havoc round the other guests.

have just been reading some of the reviews, i personally have been going to the houda for the last 18 years and i love it there, never have i found the staff to be rude or offensive, if anything they will go out of there way to help and make your stay enjoyable, ok the rooms are basic but always clean, the food can be just ok at times but i have never been ill from eating it, entertainment is superb, they try so hard to please many nationalities, as for the french and germans, come on people are you trying to say us brits are not rude??????. i believe you get what you pay for and you make your holiday,

we went to houda golf for 2wks myself, husband and my 2 children 11 and 12 years its very basic.
our room had cochroches and ants the bathroom leaked the shower was hanging off.
the staff were really polite but pushy. had to keep close eye on our 12yr old daughter as the waiters were taking to much interest in her.
as soon as u get there ur ambushed by pushy people trying to sell what ever they can my husband got into a fight with a tunisian man out side the airport coz he wanted 10 dina to carry our bag from the bus to the airport door, honestly they are EXTREMELY pushy.
there r men in the reception hounding u as soon as u get there to go on trips with them. we did do go karting with them but was disappointed as u couldn't do ur thing uwe were all in a line going slow. I advise go with ur rep. we went on loads of trips with ours, her name is marina with thomas cook and she was great.
we had a lovely time on our trips because it was from the hotel, clean but flies o m g they got us down.
on the plus side it was very very hot.
my husband, son and daughter all become ill on the second wk they had bad diahhria, and my son was so ill he still had it 2wks after we were home he's had doctors worried about him. test done. we think it was the pool as we could smell sewage.
things r cheap there,
tunisia airport OMG always have it clean in airports not this one i've never in my life seen such horror when going into a toilet i marched my daughter out with discust. u now what i mean if u ever take the risk of going.
