Hotel Houda is one of the best hotels I have ever been to it was Fab. I have no idea who gave this a 3 star rating, think there mad, as it was more like 4/5 star to me.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly. the entertainment was just great and the animators were out of this world. fou fou Ramsey and amir were just great I would highly recommend archery to everyone . the water slides are great the adults had more fun on them than the kids. The hotel was kept very very clean and the maids were just lovely. the food was good. I would recommend this to any one. I’m 100% sure I will be back again! great holiday ! three cheer to Ramsey and Amir !

This hotel is amazing - It was the best holiday that we have ever had. The food was great, especially the Italian a la Carte which was included as part of the all inclusive basis. The entertainment team do a fantastic job, if you don’t want to play games you don’t need to and they will respect you for this. The kids club is brilliant as we have 6 year old daughter this was a great hotel to go for a holiday Fou Fou the kids carer is fantastic and I admire him as he look after loads of kids he must have the patience of a saint. The onsite water park is great, as this keeps the kids and adults highly amused. The rooms are comfortable and cleaned everyday. We met lots of great people at the time that we went, and have re-booked to go back next May with them. All in all I recommend this hotel, don’t believe the bad reports about it.

I agree with the other comments on this resort. The hotel is beautiful, and perfect if you like a lazy or busy holiday! The food is OK, but limited choice for vegetarians, and several holiday makers had the runs, possibly due to salad being washed in local water.
The one comment I must make is that this is not a place you should go as single females, even with friends. There is no danger, but we spent the week with a couple of girls, who were continually pestered by the male staff, entertainnment and other, to 'talk' in their rooms. It was a friendly and cute thing at first, but as the holiday moved on the girls were pestered all day and night.
Although the entertainment staff were fantastic at keeping people busy when the weather turned bad, and please watch out for darts and sabatage, no does not appear to be in their list of english words, you will play games even if you do not want to.
I do not want people to think that this is not a wonderful place to be. With a bit of sun, or enthusiasm families and couples can have a fantastic holiday.
Also if you are with Thompson, go on the Tale of Three Cities tour, tiring but a great way to see a lot of the country, but don't forget to cover your shoulders and knees for the mosques!

My partner & I stayed at the Houda Golf & Beach Club for 2 weeks at the end of Feb./beginning of March, and we agree with other reviews...that it was truly fantastic.
In our time there we learnt about the Tunisian culture from a few of the animation team (the Tunisian equivalent of rep's based in the hotel)
Fu Fu was excellent with children, and although we didn’t have any kids with us, we would recommend this hotel as a good family base, as well as a hotel which caters for younger couples.
Riki was the highlight of our holiday, he was always helpful, without over imposing his friendship onto holiday makers...he told us how to really barter at the local shops & where to go for bargains.
We were very surprised to hear of the way this hotel is ran. Very well by the hotel proprietor, but were astounded to hear how the manager of the animation team paid little & sometimes nothing to the lads who seemed to make all of the English people enjoy their holiday to the max, they work very long hours (8am-12 midnight) this was something which we felt touched us & many other guests. We made sure that we left huge tips with those who made our holiday, and shall return to visit our Tunisian friends in the summer.

On arrival to this hotel, our greeting was warm and friendly and the man on reception arranged a cool refreshing drink for us all. The restaurant was clean and the food was good. (Not too good though if you have a fussy child). My eldest son, who is 8, is very fussy and lived on cake, chips, rolls, toast and pizza.
The children's entertainer, Fou Fou is excellent. He is great with the children and my two boys followed him around everywhere. He always has time to speak to the children and play with them. He takes the children and does lots of activities with them. He also makes sure they have drinks and at snack time takes them for pizza and chips. On our departure Fou Fou came to wave our children off, which was really nice of him. This meant a lot to my kids.
The hotel is very friendly and very clean. There were cleaners constantly cleaning. We only went for a week, but we didn't have any bad experiences.
If you are travelling with Portland/Thomson, the Camel Caravan tour was good. This was camel riding and horse and carriage. It is half-day and very enjoyable. My two boys enjoyed this and was one of the highlights for them. Also the reps show (Showstoppers) was good. This is at Sousse Palace, Sousse.
The staff (as I was informed) are not paid very much. They get 1 dinar an hour which is about 50 pence. So tipping isn't compulsory but will be very much appreciated, and in my opinion, well deserved.
The weather in February is not that great. We went for 1 week and only had about 5 days nice weather (which was not bad). It was warm enough for shorts and t-shirts, but it wasn't bikini weather. It is actually their winter. And it poured with rain on the day we came home.
We would definitely like to go again and we would stay at this hotel again.

The food is good, but a little boring. Chips, pasta, pizza and salad appear every single day, but you will never go hungry! Cakes and ice creams round it off nicely too.
Book the camel caravan trip with Fritz in the hotel foyer as his trip is far cheaper than any you will be sold by a holiday company rep, it's a great morning out.
Taxis are dirt cheap, either agree a price before you set off or ask for the meter to be on. Leave a dinar tip (50p) and you make their day! Visit Sousse, Monastir and Port e Kantoui, all within 10 - 15 minutes taxi ride. Be prepared to barter hard though as you will meet the worlds greatest salesmen in Tunisia! If you dont want to barter, go to the soular center in Sousse, where you will find 4 floors of fixed price goods and no one will hassle you.
The beach is nice, with free beds and plenty of them! Go horse riding along the beach for a few dinars (barter for this one!) or go on a banana boat for £3.50 or parachute behind a boat for a tenner - all well worth it.
Back in the hotel, you can join in with the many games or just relax by any of the fantastic pools. You wont be hassled to join in anything you dont want to - do as much or as little as you fancy. Dont miss the slides pool, the lifeguards love to join in the fun with you, they are a great bunch of guys.
I can't recommend this hotel enough - go along and have the holiday of your life. No tipping is required at all in the hotel, but I did give out my remaining cash on my last day to my fave animators, and they seemed very grateful. Their pay is dismal, and they are lovely people so a couple of quid to us may not be a lot, but to them it makes all the difference.
If you have any spare shampoo or bubble bath etc, dont take them home but give them away to the staff as these are dead expensive there and again, they really appreciate it.
Tunisians are friendly and love a good gossip and a laugh. Dont beleive the bad things you hear about them as they just arent true. A perfect pace to visit - go and enjoy!
