We booked this hotel independently to save money, and wonder whether we were treated differently because we hadn't gone for the Thomson 'package'.
Our apartment seemed small (but clean) and was on the first floor overlooking the restaurant/bar roof. No lovely pool view for us. At various times there was an awful smell of sewage from the drain in the bathroom.
Both of our children came down with vomiting and diarrhoea, and I spoke to another lady who said that her child was in their apartment being looked after by his father as he had diarrhoea too. I didn't ask others if they were ill, so am not aware of any other problems with illness.
My husband is currently seeing our doctor as he has a very itchy, ugly rash on his neck following our holiday. He works in the swimming pool industry and believes that the pools are not clean enough and that our children may have picked something up after swallowing pool water. (There were actually signs asking parents to remember to put swim nappies on their children as there had been numerous incidents of urine/fecal matter in the pools. Yuck).
On to the positives!
The food was outstanding. A wonderful choice for both breakfast and dinner - constantly being replenished, and freshly cooked at the grill station. Really can'y fault it.
The hotel staff were friendly and polite. The Thomson entertainment staff were lively and did their job very well - no hassling guests to join in with things they don't want to. Evening entertainment was good, and there were quite a few shops, bars and restaurants in the area to wander around.
The beach was golden, the sea aqua and shallow.
All in all, a good holiday - only marred by what I believe to be inadequate cleaning of the pools.

If You are thinking of booking this hotel do not hesitate it is fantastic. We have just booked again for next year.Hotel spotless and all staff so lovely.Sa Coma is a great place for families with a lovely beach and plenty of restaurants.Loads of entertainment day and night and all staff very helpful. You do have to be up about 7 am if you want a sunbed close to the pool but hey its the same everywhere to be honest!.All in all a hotel that is very hard to beat!!

Coma Gran is a lovely aparthotel in Sa Coma. All the public areas are beautifully clean and there is lots of things for the kids to do, if you book with Thomson holidays. However, if you want a sun bed around the pool, you'll have to get up and be down, poolside with your towel,at 6.30AM!! There simply isn't enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel in the height of the summer holidays so be warned. However, the beach is really close by and very safe for children

The hotel was perfect, it was clean the food was the best i have ever had, compared to other half/inc hotels i have stayed in. my little boy of 4 loved the fact there was a mini buffet so that he could get all his own food.
Entertainment was good but did start a bit late at 8.15, this was maybe because the resturant didnt open till 7.00 for dinner
All the staff were friendly, the reps were always there to help.
Only downside is the sun bed senario by the pools, but lets be honest, you are going to get this everywhere, just make sure you are in the que at 6.30am to get a bed by the pool.
The soft play area and creche for little children was brilliant as well for my 2 year old and 1 year old.
would deff go back to this hotel nxt year if had the chance.

Returned from the Coma Gran on the 3rd August. Had a brilliant time, the apartment was the nicest we have ever had with a pool/sea view and really lovely bathroom, rooms were plenty big enough for 2 adults and 2 kids (3yrs and 6yrs).
All the staff are very polite and helpful.
We were half board and the food was amazing, plenty of choice, beautifully presented, never been half board before but would definatley reccomend it at this hotel.
Hotel was spotlessly clean all the time, pool area got a bit crowded at times but it didnt really bother us.
Entertainment team were fab, always smiling and full of fun, enjoyed all the shows etc.
Our kids went to the kids club most days and really enjoyed it, our daughter also did the stage acadamy thing for 3 days costing 40 euros but she really enjoyed it so it was well worth the money.
Lovely beach only a few mins walk away. Resort itself was ok, not much going on but as there was so much going on at the hotel day and night we didnt feel the need to go far.
Would recommend the Coma Gran for anyone with young kids, spent quite a bit of money on drinks in the evenings as they are a bit pricey but all in all we had a brilliant time and will probably go back next year.

My family and i have just returned from the Sa Coma Gran, what a brilliant place to be.
We were very impressed by the hotel staff, all very friendly no matter what area of the hotel they managed.
Clean rooms and great facilities for all.
Although we were self-catering,we did not get the chance to sample the "sit down indoors menu",but the Bar Menu through out the day had enough content to satisfy those "Burger or pasta" moments.
Entertainment came via Thomsons own and they managed the job very well, as my child would verify.
My only problem was the size of the pool,in relation to size of the hotel, i would say that it shouldhave been slighty larger.
The Beach is a 5 min walk from the front doors of the hotel or 20 mins if you get caught by the local shops on the way there.
Altogether a most enjoyable stay, and one place we would have no hesitation going back to.

this hotel is fabulous, there is something for everyone.the little ones will love thompson the dog and the well organised games are from the age of 3 right up to 100! the reps work very hard to make sure people are happy, they dont hassle you if you dont want to join in either, the food in the restaraunt and the pool bar, are of a very high standard.the drinks are of an average price.the reception area is really spacious and spotless and the staff helpful (not that we had to go to reception very much because there was never anything wrong!!) the hotel is right next to a supermarket and shops, bars and restaraunts are 1 minutes walk! and the beach is 4 minutes away!the rooms a very spacious and clean and the air con works a treat! the whole hotel is spotless!

Got back from the Coma Gran yesterday 12th July 2010.
THIS HOTEL IS NEVER A 3 STAR !!! Should be at least 4 maybe 4+ !!!
I needed a lower floor room so Emailed the Coma Gran before going out , upon arrival was told , no problem and was even offered another specialist room if required. The hotel is spotless, food great Apartments very spacious, sofabeds the best I have come across, bathroom with shower and bath, very nice and of course spotless.
Reps cant do enough for you either ...
All in all would return tomorrow after 10 brilliant days in sa coma, check out the beach and blue sea, you wont be disappointed.
Thinking of going back next year already.

Stayed at this hotel week of 11th June 2010.
The hotel is lovely, its spotlessly clean, Staff are helpful and always on hand.
We were only self catering so didnt eat in the hotel restaurant but the menu did look good!
The hotel is located centrally to everything including the beautiful beach 5 mins walk away.
We were located on the 6th floor so had fantastic views of the beach.
The only downside is the noise from the Thomson shows that go on until 11ish at night. so if you decide to have early nights like we did due to young children, you may struggle to sleep. We had a one bed apartment, so my parents were in the main room and my daughter and I shared the very comfortable pull out sofa bed. No need to keep putting it away either as there was plenty of space in the room to manouvere and sit around the table etc.
The entertainment though is great for adults and children. So would highly reccommend this hotel!
Sa Coma is beautiful, so all you lucky people heading out there soon, have fun and enjoy!

Went to this hotel in Aug 2010. The pools and sun terraces are simply too small to cope with the number of guests staying at the hotel when at or near capacity. Aside from the 6.30am start to reserve a lounger there are simply not enough loungers for all guests and the pool become dangerous with kids and adults bombing, 3 and 4 man dinghies in the pool and no end of people throwing footballs at you in their attempt to play water polo...
The entertainments team worked hard but I have seen far better in other hotels.
The rooms are a good size and clean. Ask for a room overlooking the pool would be my advice - on a higher level floor.
The pool side bar is ok for snacks - a little pricey maybe.
