Grand Sharm Resort

Arrived in Egypt 23/11/09 for one week expecting to be in the Grand Hotel Sharm 5*, but due to travel agent and/ or influence of overbooking in other hotels ended up here in 2*! The older rooms in the complex are dated, dirty and badly maintained ( rooms 100's-200's ), but the newer rooms are lighter and airier but need some cosmetic maintenance. The dining area is an absolute joke, reminiscent of 1970's Butlins. The food is cold and lacks variety and the bar keeps running out of glasses! No entertainment on site is another... more

Having read reviews on this hotel we decided to have our holiday there, and we are so glad we did. On arrival we were not dissapointed, the welcome we received, and then shown to the massive room which could have housed a family with every thing that you could possibly need for you stay. The service was very special from all the staff that we came in contact with. £450 each, All Inclusive x 2 Weeks, What did i expect, Alot worse. Nobody seems to quesion the £250 flight charge for a small seat on an old plane with poor inflight entertainment and supplementary food costs and long terminal walks. Minus the flight cost from the cost of the package and you are paying a rounded up £15 a night to stay at Grand Sharm Resort if that. If you have booked the Grand Sharm beware if you end up in the Grand Sharm Resort its not the hotel you think it is! The whole place needs a needs cleaned and updated. The food is terrible. No entertainment until the bar closes at 23.00. then only about twice a week if they could find a singer staying as a guest. Not enough glasses to go round often waited at the bar 5 minutes for a glass to get a drink then it wasonlyrinsed in cold water in a rusty sink before refilling. This place keeps changing its name. Was The Creative Grand Sharm and is now Grand Sharm Resort. On arrival a guest said to ask for a room starting with 300. Good Advice! They showed us to the old and tired rooms starting 100 and they were awful. We 'demanded a room' 300 and above and were taken to much better rooms. However the room was dirty with blood on the head board and squashed mosquitoes all over the wall. The bathroom was very dirty and everything felt sticky. took 3 days to fix balcony light. oh dear if you didn't laugh you'd cry! reception staff have little english. dirty towels left from previous guests left in the room. no toilet rolls, had to keep nicking them from other toilets. safe box locked in room promised would be unlocked in an hour. finally unlocked day before departure! shower tap came off first night. taps loose on basin and waste pipe would come out if water ran a bit fast with result of water gushing all over the floor. also terrible smell in bathroom and leak from shower basin giving floods when shower used.... more

From the reviews written one can assume Grand Sharm is the worst hotel ever. For sure its best years have long gone. And it looks like a three star hotel rather than four. Let’s start with the reception. It is rather small as for the hotel this size and has old furniture, but on the other hand you are not sleeping in it, are you? The reception staff does not speak English very well, but you can communicate with them in case of an emergency. This resort/hotel was promoted by my tour operator as 4 star, it is not 4 star by any stretch of the imagination as confirmed by members of staff. i read the reviews by other guests[suckers] and passed them off as OTT and booked anyway.WHAT A HUGE MISTAKE.We as well as many other guests were confronted with rooms with no towels or toilet paper and electric points that could literally make your hair stand on end! Oh dear Oh dear, this hotel also known as Creative Grand Sharm is poor to say the least. When we arrived the reception person said he would just check the room to see if it was ready, when we got there the room was dirty, had no toilet roll and no towels, practically everyday we had to ask for towels to be left.
