Grand Mayan Acapulco

My wife and I have been visiting Acapulco since 1991. We purchased with Mayan Palace and upgraded to the Grand Mayan in 2001. We love the Grand Mayan and Acapulco. There are many activities, being an avid golfer, I enjoy crossing the street and playing at the Mayan 18 hole golf course. Fishing is great and there are many other activities. I felt like I was on a cuise ship, except for the large spacious rooms. The staff was so attentive, friendly, and courteous. Every time I walked into the bathrooms someone was in them cleaning. At night, I saw a young man with a toothbrush scrubbing by the pool. The attention to detail at this resort was refreshing. The rooms were luxurious with a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom. We have had the pleasure of going to the Mayan Palace Aczpulco for the pas ten years.We have enjoyed the resort,the friendly staff and the location.There are a number of pools, but the most impressive is the mile long pool that weaves it's way through the resort and ends with a beautiful view of the beach which is our favorite place to be. My husband and I and our extended family have been going to Acapulco for many years and are long time owners at the Mayan Palace and Grand Mayan. My fiance and I just returned from a week at the Grand Mayan. It is a beautiful resort with your choice of a numerous pools or beach cabanas. The food and drinks are excellent, although pricey. The clubs on the resort are very chic, but not very crowded. We spent the week with our taxi driver Angel Flores G. The Grand Mayan is just beaautiful. The rooms are large and decorated nicely. The kitchen has all the stainless steel appliances you would need and beautiful granite counters. The bathroom has its own jacuzzi tub and a tile shower. The lanai is large and has chairs and a table as well as your own private soaking pool. The water is cool but inviting. The view is just great. The swimming pool is the largest I have seen. Part is closed for remodeling. It is great to sit around the pool and feel the ocean breezes and watch the waves.... more

We have just returned from an idyllic week at the Grand Mayan Resort in Acapulco. Initially slated to be in the Mayan Princess, we were upgraded to the Grand Mayan in a promotional deal. Yes, we had to sit through the inevitable time share presentation, but the breakfast was excellent and the sales rep. not too pushy. He even turned us on to an excellent cab driver, Benjamin Alancon, who gave us a great 6 hour tour of the city. We had a wonderful 1 week vacation (Dec 3-10,2005) at the Grand Mayan. The hotel is magnificent. The staff is wonderful-friendly and very helpful. The rooms are very nice. You might detect a slightly musty odor when you first walk in, just open the sliding doors and it disappears. The pool area is large and surrounded by palm trees, so there is shade if you want it. We arrived and were met by Ismael Silva. I had read about him on this site. We went to the Mayan Palace and saw the construction underway. We decided to upgrade to The Grand Mayan and undergo the pressure of the time share presentation. We are already owners of the Mayan Palace timeshare and decided not to upgrade to Grand Mayan because of price presented. We did enjoy our stay at the Grand Mayan. It was beautiful and always clean. Just returned from a week at Grand Mayan Acapulco. It turned out to be a great vacation. However, was really upset when we first arrived as RCI had called us 6 months ago to try their "leading edge" state of the art resort - Grand Mayan in Acapulo - YES, they called us we did not call them !! They saw by our profile that we generally go to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun, so they asked if we would like to try this. Since we like Mexico we said YES.
