Forte Village Resort

Our 10 day stay at this hotel which cost £5700 for a non sea view room in the Castello was a let down. The beach was not like the description in the brochure at all with large boulders and shale scattered along it. We took a trip with the hotel car to the surrounding areas(Pula town,) but the landscape was bleak, dull and uninteresting. Food was excellent. Beautiful tropical gardens. Staff were average. Many good facilities to suit all tastes with karting, bowling alley, tennis. Room was rustic and plain and not really 5 Star standard.... more

Great facilities and service...courteous staff, but in truth you could be anywhere in the Med. A bit lacking in character - a very high class holiday camp.

Very professionally run resort, big complex with a number of pools, many restaurants (even a special kids restaurant), good thalasso (including float tanks), beautiful beach with white sand and clean water. Room: huge, enormous bed, well equiped bath room. Very well kept. Breakfast, dinner buffets are good, good choice, good quality, never too crowded. In short, a good place if you are looking for a resort, excluded from the rest of the island, to relax, swim and read. For the business traveller: good conference facilities. Reasonable... more

We spend 19 days in this resorts during August '05. It's import to say that we paid 660 Euro person a day, and for this amount we're waiting to receive the very best of service and a wonderful place (as described in the brochure). Unfortunately it wasn'it: - the beach was not made of white and thiny sand but by haevy rock; - the places on the beach aren't enough for the total number of guests; - the garden and streeets in the resort were dirty and decaying; - for lunch in every restaurant there was only a lot of noise,... more

We are due to leave the hotel tomorrow and it cant come quick enough. We came here from Rome and booked for 7 nights. In the brochure the resort sounds fantastic,how wrong could it be. The rooms are small and tacky in decor (Not 5*) my wife and i also had the pleasure of being in a room that was attached by a door to a family with a young and very vocal child during the night. Forte Village does not resemble its web ads, & is struggling under the control of banks. Restaurants & facilities are being closed with no communication to guests, service is poor - staff are disinterested & Management is invisible. Complaints locally achieve nothing. Access to the gym (within a centre) costs 89 Euro per person per day & some restaurants charge a 67 Euro supplement per person per meal. Come here if you want to burn money!! Having read the recent reviews on this complex i can't believe we were at the same place!! This was your second time at Forte Village, we would go every year but it is costly but apart from that everything else is wonderful. We booked Villagio but were upgraded to Il Borgo but to be honest the only difference was the rooms were slighty bigger, little extras like the maid coming in at nite and folding down covers and putting chocolates on pillows and we didn't have to pay any surcharges for different restaurants. I've been in that village for 3 nights and I had a special fare of 750 € per room in "il Castello" side, which is one of the best of the complex. The room was not so special, a standard 3-4 stars room with tube abd bath separated, a narrow balcon, but not lux in the room (for that price you expect more). The breakfast was good, with the piano bar in the morning playing nice soft music. Restaurants usually good, food quite good too. I would not recommend Forte. Whilst the service and the resort was good a number of factors let it down. It smells of drains and I got food poisoning from one of their restaurants serving sea food. (I was half board and everything you eat and drink is on site so it was definately from them). They overcharge and you are a captive audiance; beer £8 12e per half litre (pint), 3 diet cokes 12e £8, 67e suppliment each for an evening meal on top of half board in most restaurants (that were worth eating in). We have just returned from Sardinia, where we spent three nights at the Forte Village in Pula. Their web marketing, as well as their printed brochure depict a very luxurious, exclusive enclave with fantastic cuisine, first class entertainment, beautiful beach and pools, and a choice of rooms that all looked fabulously appointed. Nothing could have been further from the truth. We were in a 'superior' bungalow in Il Borgo for which we paid an extra supplement. Our room cost us €700.00 per night.
