Epavlis Hotel

Stayed for one week in this piece of Paradise, the hotel is spotless, and totally quiet at night time, the staff are very helpful and friendly, and it is a united nations of people staying there. The beech in Kamari is spotless, and there was a lovely breeze, which kept you cool. The resturants along the beech front are a little bit more expensive than up the side streets, but that is what you pay for a view. Myself and my boyfriend have just returned from a week in The Epavlis in Santorini. I have to day that I was apprehensive about the hotel after reading the mixed reviews but we were more than pleased. The staff are not over friendly, but I feel thats more of a language barrier than rudeness. We were given Room 26, with a large balcony and jacuzzi overlooking the sea and mountains. After reading the rave reviews i had high expectations. Overall the hotel is wek kept, clean and well positioned but, the pool is rather small, there was a shortage of brolleys, the baths do leak and the breakfasts are very poor. Whoever said below that the food is great must have been staying in a different hotel. You would atleast expect some fresh fruit rather than tinned. Was very much looking forward to staying here after being advised this was a four start hotel. Disappointed on arrival, as hotel is three star at best and then discovered the bath flooded our room and the shower broken. The staff were thoroughly unpleasant and unhelpful, they took three days to fix this and then at the end of our stay tried to charge us EUR120.00 for the repairs! Very poor.

this is the first hotel i have stayed in that actually looks identical to the pictures on the website. we arrived really late at night and as it was our honeymoon were hoping for a sea view room and luxury. We were taken to one of the standard rooms sandwiched between two others. my husband went down to complain and explain about our honeymoon. We Just came back from Santorini and stayed in Epavlis hotel in Kamari. We travel alot all over the world and this hotel was one of the best we stayed in. The Hotel is beautifuly designed and is spotless. The breakfast is Buffet style with alot of diffrent food to chose from. The quality of the food is excellent with whole wheat breads, cheese eggs fresh salads everyday fruits granula and I can not continue to write all the great food they sarved. We stayed in this wonderfully decored hotel with my boyfriend and would like to share my experiences. The hotel is located nerby the mountain on the end of Kamari city. It is advatage, because Santorini island is very small and Kamari is very close to the airport (you can nearly see, what are people eating in the plane :) ) but Epavlis is not as close to it. We stayed at the Epavlis Hotel in August for our honeymoon and it was a lovely holiday. I think its fair to say that the Hotel still has a few teething problems - dirt track up to the entrance (which is booked to be tarmaced at the end of this season!), staffing problems (there were quite a few witnessed arguments between the family owners of the hotel and their hired help!) and such things but none of this over shadowed our holiday. The Epavalis hotel is lovely. We payed locally for a upgraded room (15 euros a night) to have the "best room" and best view but to be honest there was no need. The view is amazing from all the balconies. The rooms are spotless and little details like fluffy towels changed every day and a fridge really made a difference. The waiter service at the pool is a big bonus as its so relaxing! the only downside is there is a fairly loud music by the pool but thats only a small point. We stayed here for three nights beginning May 30, 2006. We booked through Gate 1. The local representative who met all of the Gate 1 travlers at the airport said that everyone booked at Hotel Hermes would be taken to the just opened Epvalis and receive an upgrade. The road to the hotel is up a fairly steep dirt road and we had to drag and carry our luggage. I'd suggest packing as light as possible!
