Not bad considering the price
I had some difficulty finding this place in the beginning. If you don't travel often to China Town in Kuala Lumpur you can get yourself lost there, due to the structure of the streets. Took me an hour driving around and I found it finally. Location is actually pretty good if you know how to navigate around. The hotel is located directly in the middle of the market, and you are surrounded by all kinds of peddlers and vendors. It would be a great spot for people who are looking for a bargain in imitation goods. As for the hotel,... more
Simple accommodation in good location
Stayed in D'Oriental Inn 10-13/04 over Easter holiday, booked through expedia for a packaged deal, so I was not sure how much exactly was the hotel part so I wasn't sure what to put down as "value". First of all the hotel is in the middle of Petaling St., where cars cannot access (although there were cars just drove into the crowd slowly), so my cab just "dumped" me in front of the entrance of Petaling street and asked me to find it by myself! But the hotel is very close to Pasar Seni (Central Market) train station and lots of buses... more
Good Value for money !
We had a nice clean room with wifi. possibility for breakfast and in the middle of chinatown. There is friendly staff . We loved it.
Pick somewhere else!
Rooms dark and dingy. sheets although replaced daily dont look like they have been professionally cleaned. we stayed 7 nights and not once did we have sheets without marks. some even had been written on with biro. the bed however is comfortable, but dont expect a 2nd pillow. you get one pillow each, and one blanket for the bed. no extras supplied in case you get cold or you sleep with 2 pillows. there is NO jug for tea/coffee making! they supply you with 2 coathangers in an open cupboard that will house about 6 pieces of clothing.... more
Noisy and small room
We have booked the Superior Room for 3 nights as we thought that the room will be bigger and better condition than the Standard Room. But we were surprised with the room, it was very small and it was overlooking the Petaling Street (although we could see only the roof of Petaling Market). The room number was 202, it was very noisy at night from the market especially between 11.00PM-03.00AM. We could not sleep at all during the time of the market was over. I also think that there is no different between the Standard and the Superior Room.<br... more
a total gem!
At the time I booked this hotel, it was a bit of a gamble because there were no reviews listed anywhere online, but for the bargain price of RM99, we decided to take a gamble and boy did it pay off! We booked 3 nights through wotif, as their rate was cheaper than that advertised on the hotel's website. We ended up in KL a day earlier than planned, and a quick phone call to the hotel booked us a room for that night for the same price! After spending a month in India, anything probably would have seemed like luxury, but this hotel is... more
Good, clean budget place
A new budget hotel right on the market of Petalingstreet. It offers great value for money. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, neat and comfortable, be it a little small. Service is friendly and competent, breakfast is decent for the price.
Great
Graet place. Really clean and right in centre of China town. Great Value for money. Breakfast was not great but we were really happy with the place. We had a 2 year old child with us and our parents everyone was happy!!
Good for the markets
D'Oriental Inn was a good hotel for the price we paid. Firstly, the good points: 1) The hotel was right outside the markets, so as you step out of the hotel, the markets are right in your face. We did bartering every night of the 7 nights we were there (spent a bit too much too!). 2) The rooms were very decent. A good size, nice bathrooms, nice bed and clean (we were in a superior room). Very comfortable. 3) The internet was free of charge. 4) The house-keeping staff were excellent! Very helpful! They were very good in... more
No complains! Love it!
Initially i was worried about booking this hotel because there was no review about this hotel anywhere on the internet!!! I later found out, as of my date of arrival, it was only 2 mths old, newly furbished and renovated hotel. I wanted a budget hotel, nothing fancy but nothing skanky as well. And i got just what i wanted. This is the perfect stay for budget travellers who wants optimal comfort and yet at a low price. Though the price may not be as low as other budget hotel, but i feel it's reasonable enough. RM 158 for two... more
