Decumani Hotel de Charme

Hotel de Charme fulfils its name. It is tucked away and may be difficult to find, but look for the red flag marking the entrance. The location is great for wandering around and seeing all the sights. Ssandro is a wonderful host, and helped with everything. At the time of our visit, there were renovations to the public rooms taking place, but this was not too intrusive. Okay - the first thing I do have to admit is that everyone else's comment that the entry to the hotel itself is scary at best and is certainly no indication of the accomodations. Here we encountered a problem that mostly impacted my Mother In Law whom we were traveling with. She had hurt her knee in Rome and the lift at this hotel was broken when we arrived, so she had to climb two flights of stairs on a bum knee -- painful! This is a very special hotel, a gem, hidden in an old, degrading but still spectacular building, situated in the middle of the fascinating old part of Neaples, only a few minutes to the most interesting vias and piazzas. The rooms are very quiet and fabulously renovated, the hotel offers free high speed internet, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I would always come back again to this place.

We enjoyed the centric location of the hotel and its charming and very helpful staff, they create a home-like atmosphere.

My fiance and I came to Naples to celebrate our engagement, and we couldn't have been more pleased with this hotel. Perfect location and above average service. It is nice to be in a brand new hotel which has been tastefully decorated- well it's an old palazzo, but newly renovated. The room was large and the bathroom impeccable. At first I found the room a little bit cavern like, because there was no window -just french doors opening out from a little alcove off the room. I have just returned 2 days ago from spending 4 nights at this fantastic hotel in Naples. After reading previous reviews I found a great pre-paid rate on expedia. On arriving outside the old palazzo where this hotel is on the 2nd floor we were a bit concerned as it looks a little shabby but on entering the hotel we were amazed. When I booked this hotel it had no reviews and I took a punt, but it definitely paid off... what a find! The hotel is part of a grand old building which looks a little run down from the outside, right in the middle of the centro storico. Brilliant location, right next to the university, so plenty of bars around - join the locals and have a Peroni at the piazza just around the corner - you can get a great pizza slice and a Peroni from the little shop on the corner of the piazza. We stayed at the Decumani Hotel De Charme for 3 nights and were delighted with the experience. The rooms are fabulous with every modern convenience and comfort and these amazing 25 foot ceilings! Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the street so we could see and hear the daily hustle and bustle below. However, once the door was closed, the room was extremely quiet. We stayed in the Decumani Hotel de Charme for a week and we can't wait to go back! Although they were still working in another wing of the hotel, there was no noise or bother and the rooms that were ready were simply lovely. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and whatever we wanted done was fixed straight away. The aerea may seem somewhat run-down, but that is simply the charm of Naples.
