i have just got back from a week at the aparthotel playa mar,i thought my room was really nice it had all the kitchen facilities although the maids didnt clean the room everyday i didnt mind because i did it myself. the food was ok but we tryed eating out for tea because the buffet seemed the same all the time. the staff were ok didnt have any problems, although i got the impression if your kids wasnt in the kids club then you didnt matter to the reps!. I have a 1 yr old and a 5 yr old and we enjoyed the beach and having a walk to the shops so didnt really have chance to go to the kids club, over all the holiday was great i loved the live entertainment jacko was great !!!

I would not recommend hotel playamar to anybody the rooms are very basic and it is defently not a 4star hotel like advertised. The food is the same stuff for dinner and tea. The breakfast is bareable. But the rooms have no tv´s and no kettle´s no fridges or any facilities in them, the corridors are full of people writing. They dont have double beds so it is defently no good for hooney moon´s. The staff try to be friendly but all in all the whole island have a problem with english people, the hotel cater´s for german people mainly and not alot of the staff speak english. The all inclusive only star´s at 10 and finishes at 10 there is no ice creams or places to get snacks so u have to pay for theses things during the day as meals are at set times. But i would recommend three bars the red lion the little welsh bar and the elvis bar these are very nice places. The rooms have no air conditioning. i would not go to the anchor italian reastaurant on the sea front the food is disgusting and they do not like english paeople.
- Advice: there´s nothing for children here.

The Hotel its self was excellent, rooms were clean and spacious (other than the cupboard size kitchen). Staff particularly the reception staff were really helpful. But 4 days into our holiday our room was broken into via the window in the kitchen - as was the apartment opposite and on talking to other guests we found we were not the only ones, although the window appeared locked from the inside and could not be opened, from the outside with a little push it popped open. The reception staff were extremely helpful as was the Thompson Rep with getting the police forms etc. But having your camera and other valuables stolen did put a dampener on the holiday - and the break in scared the children. I would go back to the hotel but not in a ground floor apartment!

The Playa Mar Pollenca looks like a very nice hotel, I thought that I was going there last week with my girlfriend, son and his friend. On arrival we were very disappointed to discover that we were actually booked into the two star Playa Mar Hotel in nearby S'illot. Our Hotel was full of people who thought they were going to the four star, the holiday companies are selling the facilities of the four star, charging four star rates and dumping people in the two star. From what I can see all the Holiday firms are at it so beware...

Just got back from a 2 week holiday at the Playa Mar. Cannot recommend the hotel enough. Reception Staff exceptionally friendly. Thomson Reps couldn't do enough to keep the kids entertained and slso the adults. The evening entertainment is really good and far better than we expected with professional shows 3 times a week. We were really fortunate to see the Michael Jackson Tribute Act which was brilliant. We met some really lovely people and the hotel had a safe family atmosphere.
The hotel is around a 20 minute walk through the pinewalk but the upside to that is it's a lovely pleasant walk. Taxis are reasonable though at around 5 euro each way and the Reception Staff are only too happy to help in booking the taxi for you. Pollensa itself is very pretty with some really lovely restaurants on the waterfront which are reasonably priced. The bargain restaurants are set back from the main front! Old Pollensa Town is a must at around 11 euro one way in a taxi. It has a market on a Sunday which is well worth a visit.
The only downside to the hotel in my opinion is you have to get up at "daft o clock" to get a sunbed which we gave up after the 2nd day. There is however small inlet beaches dotted around the pinewalk which is a 2 minute walk from the hotel. The main beach is around a 20 minute walk.
All in all a fab holiday and we've already booked to go back next year! Hope this review helps!

Just back home from a great fortnight stay Half Board with my husband and 2 children aged 8 & 5yrs at the Playa Mar, Puerto Pollensa July/Aug 10. The hotel is situated at the far end of Pollensa a very short distance from the very pretty "Pine Walk" leading into the main town full of restaurants & souvenir shops (15min walk from hotel). The hotel reception area is very nice with a small shop out front packed with plenty of light refreshments, water beds, pool toys & other essentials. There are 4 appartment blocks 3 levels high, 2 to each side of the main pool area and pretty grounds. We had an appartment on the 3rd floor overlooking the old main road out of pollensa which was great as nice and quiet at night. Our appartment was exceptionally clean and Gabriella our maid was fantastic, our room was cleaned 12 out of 14 days and always had a full supply of fresh towels. As we were half board & didn't really require that of a self catering the small kitchen area with fridge was an added bonus which every room has. Do take your own hair dryer as the wall attached one in bathroom not powerful at all! The food is ideal provided(for Brits) in a large buffet style with plenty of choices for adult and kids. The Thomson reps do a great job entertaining the kids during the day and put on a few poolside games with further hosting of events and outside shows brought in for the evenings. Like any other hotel to get a sunbed around pool area especially in height of season you will need to set alarm for 5:30 to ensure a good bed & this is a Brit only hotel! Don't be fooled by the Thompson reps & glossy tv adverts selling fantastic excursions. The only trip that is a must is "The Pirates" Awesome awesome awesome! We also did marineland! Apart from the 15 min parrot and dolphin show not much else and have seen the rest of park in 10mins, A LONG DAY TO HANG AROUND in heat and sunshine and as most of the excursions at the south end of island you have to cope with all the pick-ups and drop-offs not only in pollensa but Alcudia too! As playa mar last hotel at far end of pollensa you are more than often first pick-up and last drop off which makes trips rather lengthy to say the least! In saying this and being a pollensa regular playa mar is still one of the best places to stay in the resort and will definately go back soon! Jayne(Glasgow) x.

I was a little concerned that this hotel would be a bit 'in your face'.
But it was great. The hotel staff and Thomson staff were extremely helpful and courteous.
The Kids Club reps are excellent. Lots of happy children to be seen everywhere. Provision for children and family entertainment is excellent.
I would recommend this hotel and this resort to anyone with children looking for a package holiday. Beautiful resort. Could get sunbeds on the various beaches/coves every day and it didn't feel crowded, sea was lovely and we didn't have one bad meal in any restaurant in the area.
Food at the hotel was better than I expected it to be.
Brilliant holiday had by all and would definitely go back.
As for complaints by guests about the pool area not having enough shade and sunbeds. The problem is perpetuated by guests putting towels on the beds at the crack of dawn and then using them for half an hour a day. Ditto sun umbrellas. The amount of people hogging them but not actually using them was typical and not a fault of anyone who worked at the hotel. Incidentally, half way through our stay more parasols did arrive. Similar thoughtless attitudes were displayed by guests in the dining room. With the best will in the world, the Thomson reps can't and shouldn't be expected to sort that kind of behaviour out!!! The guests were all British from what I could see, but plenty of them gave the stereotypical German a run for their money! Come on Brits, start putting your towels down as you arrive to sunbathe instead of setting your alarm to stick a flag in the ground...we'll all benefit from leaving the turf wars at home! And when you're in the dining room - remember it's not a motorway Service Station and they do actually top the trays up...you don't need to rush and push to get the last chop.
That said, the bed problem / dining room elbow fest was easy to ignore as the hotel was a joy to stay in and the resort lovely. Upon speaking to other guests, it was apparent that people love it so much they return year after year. I can see why and we are tempted to do the same.

Nice resort, though having being to Cala D'or twice previously it didn't quite cut it for us. We thought we would try Puerto Pollensa having heard good reports. It was nice enough but the sea wasn't very clear as in Cala d'Or, not much of a marina either. Travelling with Thomson was good, bit of a delay going out, but plenty of staff around at arrival airport making sure you got on the right transfer coach etc. First impression of hotel very good, good reception area. However our room was awful. It was dingy and dark, on the ground floor and facing the road. So no lovely balcony to sip your wine on of an evening looking over the pool... It was smelly as well. We did ask to change but apparently there was no other room available so we had to make do. Very basic, god forbid if you wanted to cook something more than toast! The main drawback as we found with being on the ground floor was passing thiefs (or possibly a maid) helping themselves to anything you may have left out to dry!! Someone stole my husband's favourite swim shorts from our terrace when he had left them to dry one evening. When we told the rep she said someone had had a watch stolen by the pool whilst swimming so my advice lock up everything! My tip take a trip to Cala San Vincente on the bus its beautiful, pretty cove clear water. Also we took the ferry to Formentor beach which was lovely. Restaurants to recommend in Puerto Pollensa are of course Little Italy (we ate their 3 times in our week holiday), and a little restaurant we found down a side street opposite a nice boutique very reasonable and the best steak ever..
- Advice: Pretty resort, good buses if you want to explore further afield.

This was our fifth trip to the Playa Mar and, as always, we enjoyed our holiday. However, Thomson need to sort out the problem they frequently have whereby they are turning young children away from Kidzone because they do not have enough staff or space. This year they initiated a system where you had to pre-sign at 9.15pm if you wanted your child to attend Kidzone the next morning. This penalised people who did not stay on site for the evening entertainment and meant lots of disappointed children (and parents!).

on arrival the place looked great, well from the outside. we opened the room door and were disappointed by the basic furnishings and the small rooms. the so called kitchen was less than a metre wide, poorly equiped. on the first day we went out only 100m to the seafront, to encounter the gypsies with their flowers running away from an old man they had just robbed. they had 2 men waiting and made their getaway in a car. we had seen this 12 years earlier and were shocked that this is still going on. the worst of all that spoilt our whold holiday was on our second day we returned to our room. as we were s/c we had taken packet rice, pasta and soups to keep us going, i had placed them in the drawer in the living room, it had all been taken. HARD TO BELIEVE but true. also my wifes costume jewellery from the drawer next to it had gone. i went straight to reception to report this. THEY DID NOTHING not even a reply as to what had been done. the rep was just as useless. she filled in a report sheet but did not get back to us. we remained in a dirty room for the remains of the holiday as i could not as you imagine let the maids in. this is an honest warning if you have booked this hotel.

My family and I have just returned from a brilliant holiday at the Playa Mar Aparthotel, last year we went to Puerto Pollensa for a day trip and fell in love with it, we walked along the beautiful "pine walk" which is directly along side the many small intamate beaches and cosy restraunts ,eventually we ended up at the Playa Mar Aparthotel, we went in and walked around to see what it had to offer. One year later we booked for an eleven night stay. We arrived just as it had finished an update and refurbishment which made it look even better than last year!!!. We were greeted on arrival with champagne reception and soft drinks for the children. However we were disapointed with the position of our allocated room but staff were very attentive and quick to change us to a room we were happy with. Our room was spacious, clean and bright. The kitchen was well equiped with a kettle, microwave, fridge and utencils ect.. and ladies there is a decent hairdryer in the bathroom!!!
The day we arrived they were putting the finishing touches to a newly installed "watershoot" play area for children in the shape of a crab and a cow the our young kids loved it but you must supervise them as it did get overcrowded with older children. Our children loved the entertainment and especially Thomson the dog! Its a fantastic hotel for children and theres also a lovely park to keep them entertained, kiddys clubs and indoor creches. The food hall was spotlessly clean and the food well cooked and hot! There was always plenty to choose from, also variety for vegetarians!
We were the first people to stay here following the referbishment so i really hope the standards remain as high as they were when we were there. We would highly recommend this hotel for its accomadation, cleanliness, friendliness and great entertainment. The hotel is situated in a very quiet part of Pollensa but only a stone throw away from the beaches. The shops and restaurants are a 10minute walk along the "pine walk" which is just beautiful with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and a short walk to the harbour. It has to be said this is one of our best family holiday destinations yet!!!
