and have to say place was fantastic last minute deal, all staff was very friendly
and helpful. Apartment very clean and spacious, swimming pool and surrounding area
lovely and clean, also could not beleive that you could still get sunbeds at 12pm midday.
It was situated in a quite area so for a relaxing holiday we thought this was an ideal
place, would recommend this hotel to my friends.

We would strongly recommend the Playa Mar to anyone with children looking for a 'proper holiday'
This was the first time we'd booked a package with thomson holidays, to see what the kids club etc could offer, having been to P Pollenca numerous times before on a self arranged basis, renting a private apartment. The cost of transfers by taxi, flights and the accomodation meant that this year, we knew a package with free child place for a group of three of us was going to save a lot.
Had reservations about the a complex and being pressured by tour operator reps etc to 'buy things' and were verty pleasantly suprised that the were nothing like this at all.- just very friednly , helpful and effecient.
the team of entertainers made the holiday for our daughter, particularly Dan 'The Man' Preston,-(cross between Peter Kaye and Robbie Williams) and Lady Kerry,- all the team were great.
The kids club /kids zone and overal entertainment was spot on.- meaning from lunchtime till late night there was entretainment for kids, meaning the adults can relax and enjoy their holiday rather than worry about keeping their kids enteratined and occupied.
We didn't eat in the restaurant, as we alwasy sample the local cuisine, and get away from English food. Tip for the Restaurant manager here; -look to write the menu in a way that might inspire /attract people to give it a go...
Room met expectations, cleaned regularly, and fresh towels supplied all the time,- we faced the stage, which some would say might be noisy, but it was only till c 11pm on a night, and then extremely quiet.
some people would find fault with people doing a 'German' and securing sunloungers near the pool early...we found there were plenty of beds even after 8.30am most days,...
Overall the complex was excellent, and safe and friendly..
We will be going back definitely, and hopefully later this summer.
- Advice: Ideal for those wanting to eat good quality food, with no loutish behaviour.-
- Activities: Makkasar-on the side of the old square- Best in resort bar noe for quality meat dishes.

We have just arrived back from a family holiday at these apartments. This is the first time visiting this resort and we would definitely go back. Cannot fault the hotel - the pool area, the apartments (although the kitchen facility was a little small), and the reps! There is an issue with sunbeds being taken from around 7.30am, but on several occasions we saw beds available later on in the morning - although positioning them close to the pool would have been a problem!
The apartments are clean, spacious (except the kitchen area - but we managed), and have a toaster, kettle, microwave, hob etc. Even a hairdryer in the bathroom! - Bathroom was nice and big, and there was plenty of wardrobe space in the living room and the bedroom.
Restaurants - we ate at 'The Joker' on the front (very nice Paella), La Piazza (more traditional style on the Square - very very nice, but a little on the expensive side), Nicos (Americanish style restaurant - but very nice food) - all of which catered well for the children.
Dolphin Experience at Marineland definitely worth going on - children loved the interaction with the dolphins. Lovely day out (we booked this ourselves, direct with Marineland).
Overall - Really nice holiday, no issues at all. Went through more spending money than when we visited the island 2 years ago - but believe this is the same all over the island - sign of the times eh?

This is my honest view so hope it helps you in your choice.
I’ve stayed at Playa Mar now three times over approximately 8 years each time at the height of the season and I can honestly say very little against the hotel.
You know as you're dropping people off from the coach and you look at where they are staying and saying to yourself ‘I’m glad I’m not staying there’, well you will not feel like this at Playa Mar. Nice entrance with a curved drive, very smart and well maintained buildings and grounds.
However, no getting away from it the location is just on the end of the pine walk so VERY pretty walk into town to the night-life, but a bit of a walk if you’ve been stuck at your desk and had no exercise through the year like me. The upside is you don’t get noise!
The staff are great and I always found reception and management very helpful and professional. The entrance to the hotel is also very smart and gives you a nice start to your impression of Playa Mar.
There is a small shop on the complex tucked away out of sight, which is nice and adds to the high standard image of the complex and the staff are really helpful (It’s also good fun trying to move around the shop due to its size), but don’t get me wrong it has nearly all the essentials you will need if you're self-catering providing you're not looking for multiple brand choices, but they do have some familiar UK brand names.
The rooms, the grounds and the pool area were always clean and tidy and of a good standard and the maid service was always very helpful if you needed anything outside of the standard change days (nothing was a problem for them) and they managed to also only come into the room to clean when it was convenient for us. Several other hotels I’ve been to could learn a lesson here……!
Only criticism is that the entertainment can be a little noisy if you have a room facing the pool, but the up-side (especially if you have little ones and can’t leave them) is that you can sit on the balcony and watch the shows. So best try to get a room facing the town if you want dead quiet otherwise enjoy the entertainment.
If you get one of the two blocks that face the road it’s not a great outlook (looking onto the road and then trees - not too bad I suppose). The plus side is it's not noisy anymore as its no longer the main road through Pollenca as there is a new by-pass taking traffic away leaving only local traffic, which is not bad.
Just a quick word on the entertainment…. Yes it is typical holiday stuff, but Thompson and Playa Mar makes sure the standard is high and there were some really entertaining acts whilst we were there and I’m a bit of a hard one to please (the wife says I’m a miserable sod really).
Also the entertainment ends at a reasonable time and what’s more we always found the other guests to be reasonable and the noise seemed to nearly always fall away at a reasonable time, which for those with kids or those of you like me who want to relax on holiday and not get more wound up, is a great comfort to know. Also if things do get a little too loud the hotel staff is always on hand although I never had to test this theory.
The restaurant never seemed to be busy, which was a shame as when we did eat there (there are lots of restaurants in the town to tempt you away) the food was as good as anywhere we eat in town and the staff make a real fuss of you, which was better than many places in town. Also the bar staff are nice and friendly and again can’t fault the service.
Not sure I should be telling anyone this as my wife is moaning saying we should keep it our secret! HAVE FUN.......

What another fantastic holiday at this resort. This is our third visit now in the last five years, and this one has proved to be the best so far.
Fantastic food at the hotel, and worked out very reasonable against the local restaurants. We like a mix of the two, but with smaller children, I woiuld imagine it's easier to have it all under one roof.
The Thomson reps were great this year, and had lots of fun with the kids. We like the evening entertainment rather than the kids clubs, which allows parents a drink while the children dance along with all the actions!
My only criticism this year was the lack of consideration for other pool side sun bathers with regard to sun beds and umberellas. In the searing heat hitting the forties in our last two days, it is unfair when people monopolise more than one umberella for their party. It also annoys that we have become like another well known nation for getting up at five just to put your towel on a sun bed. But then not to come any where near it all day!

I felt cautious about booking this aparthotel due to previous comments on trip advisor, however our comments are as follows............first impressions of the hotel, reception staff, cleanliness, rooms etc were all excellent. I initially felt dubious about being placed in block 3 which is beside the stage thinking it would be loud, but it definately was not in any way obstrusive (the daytime entertainment did not start until about 10-1030am and evening shows finished around 11-1130pm after the shows were over the complex was extremely quiet).
This was our first Thomson's experience and the hotel was chosen for children's activities etc and it ticked every box for what we had hoped for, as everyone is concerned about childcare etc I was really glad to see 4 kidszone reps to approx 13-16 children for the 2hours and as our apartment overlooked kidszone we were able to see into the room and could see the supervision/activities etc. We found the staff excellent with the kids, and laura, steve & alex were brilliant at the complex entertainment (it was not intrusive if you wanted to take part you could but if you were happy to watch from the sidelines there was no pressure to join in).
We didn't eat in the restaurant but found the restaurants, cafe bars along pinewalk and in the square great (particularly Nico's, Little Italy and Trio) - with the best value being on the set menus around 15-16 euros including a drink.
Our room was cleaned everyday (except one day but clean towels/bed linen was left extra for the day the cleaners were off). We had a lovely experience at this aparthotel and would definately recommend it to anyone with young children looking a quiet family holiday that suits the needs of both children & parents.
Only negative comments I could really say is regarding the lack of umbrellas at the poolside and sunbeds being close together, our last day (near end of June) there was a lot more guests in the hotel and i could see how it could be very noisey in July/August at the height of season but for us mid-June it was perfect. Puerto Pollensa & the Playamar met more than our expectations. Can only say a thankyou to the Thomson staff and Candena Mar staff at the Playamar for a really lovely holiday that was enjoyed by all of us. Thanks ! :))

We stayed at a Thomson Villa & as we had to vacate this at 10.00am & our Flight from Palma was not until almost midnight & we also had a 3 year old & 18 month old we payed 80 Euros to have 2 studio rooms for the day. Villa Rep said that we could have them from 10.00am onwards. On arrival at 10.40 only one room was ready & the other we didn't get until after 1pm. There were also 6 adults in our party. The shower worked but the drain didn't! & water went under door & we had to soak it up with towels. The pool was over crowded with sunbeds touching one another, loud music, & I think what really topped it was when the staff had to retrieve "faeces" from the pool with a net, dripping all along where people had to walk & were sunbathing.

Just got back from the Playamar and i have to say the place is fantastic! Am in the travel business so am a bit fussy about where to take the family but this place had everything and was of a high standard..the brochures don't do it justice. its on the end of the pine walk which is about a 15 minute stroll into Puerto Pollensa centre but it is so picturesque that it was a joy to walk for our evening meal everyday, it really was stunning! Steve the entertainer is an absolute gem, the kids and the mums loved him. The pool area is spotless and was cleaned everyday as was the whole complex. We ate in the restaurant on a couple of nights and the choice on the buffet was very good although on a few evenings there was a queue for a seat which i wouldnt have fancied had i been half board and eating there every night. The restaurants in resort were lovely and reasonably priced. The kitchenette area in the apartment was very small but wasnt an issue whatsover but if you were planning on catering for yourself you would struggle a bit. This really is a wonderful complex and a beautiful resort, both were of a classy high standard and i can't see how anybody wouldnt agree. Would definately return again.

What an amazing place! The food is excellent (The kids menu is brilliant!), the Rooms are clean and cool, the location is perfect and the entertainers are amazing!
For a FAMILY this is a great place to be!
The only bad points are:
- You can't lock the door from the inside. Our 2 year old could easily open it so we had to barricade the door each night.
- The Hotel does nothing to stop towels being placed on sun chairs so getting a seat by the kids pools proved impossible.
- If you want peace and quiet make sure you get a room facing the road (no traffic) rather than the pool. It will get very loud in the summer and go on very late. If you have children facing the back of the complex should be a must!

Accommodation was overall very pleasant. The location was perfect being at the very edge of the pine walk so you get to experience it every night whilst walking to the wide range of estaurants. The accommodation is very clean and well looked after. Food was quite good but not very adventurous, but no need to worry due to the abundance of restaurants close by.
The reps were quite uninventive at the resort in terms of the games. They seemed like they had a long hard summer and had given up.
Indoor swimming pool very small, but outdoor pool very adequate.
Alot of activity around the pool but this easily sees the day in.

Puerto Pollensa is beautiful, with a long walk along the beach front. The beach is sandy and the sea is clear.
The playa Mar has the best accomodation we have stayed in. It is clean and well appointed. The area is quite especially at night.
the Thomsons kids club was great and lots of activities put on by the reps to keep the kids (and adults) amused.
The food was good with a large buffet selection and a separate buffet just for the kids.
A great family holiday.
