Club Med Ixtapa Pacific

I went to Club Med full of trepidation about the entire concept..thought the constant activity, socializing etc would not be up my alley. Now, I am a convert....I went with my two teenage daughters and we happily picked several activities a day...Some we did together like sailing, some they did on their own i.e. kayaking and flirting with teenage boys. The place is big enough and accomodating enough that it can please the traveller with ADD who needs to be enagaged in a new activity every 45 minutes and the grumpy misogonist who wants... more

My husband and I, along with our two boys, ages 4 and 8, stayed at Club Med Ixtapa in mid-February. Here's a recap of our experiences:Pros: Clean water, clean beach area and pool, many activities to choose from, or you can just read a book, walk on the beach or swim in the pool. 7 adults and 3 kids spent the most wonderful vacation as a family there. We can't wait to go back next year. It was a beautiful family beach resort : beach , water, grounds, and especially the staff from the bus escort from airport to bartenders, to reception staff. One G.O. went as far as inviting my wife , my 7 year old boy and myself to the reception area to get all our faces made up in Spider man make up for the night festivities. We are unabashed Club Med groupies. If your idea of a good time is going to a a five star hotel with freezing cold air conditioning, 55 cable channels, gourmet dining room, etc don't go to any Club Med because that's not what they're about. My husband has become a trapeze junkie because of Club Med- it's a great activity for teens and adults. The circus shows are fabulous for kids up to age 13, and they have age-appropriate circus acts that they teach the kids. Word to the wise. Beward of comments on this site that appear too biased one way or the other, some appear to be from promoters of the resort. Club Med offers many nice amenities, but has some negative offsets. My family visited the Club Med Ixtapa in mid-March and had a good time while there, but my wife and I were very sick when we returned while my 1-yr old was sick toward the end of the week and still hasn't fully recovered one week later (vomiting while there and cough/cold for the past week). Club Med Ixtapa was one of the best hotels I have stayed at. I was there with my boyfriend, my daughter, and her friend. My daughter would leave at about 8:30 and head to the kids club which had all kinds of fun activities like sailboating, tennis, kayaking, swimming and they even had a trapeze and a trampoline plus they would feed them lunch and dinner. Whenever that was over then we would go and watch the plays that were put on. My daughter with the kids club put on a play for Grease and then after a week they would put on this circus... more

You will Love Club Med ixtapa...and if you dont you should be Institutionalized You need your head EXAMINED if you don't love Club Med Ixtapa! We went there in February 2004. Im doing this review because I simply fell in love with this place. This is our FIRST Club Med. My wife and I came here as a last minute badly needed mid winter get away I am used to 5 star resorts and cruise lines. We were in Ixtapa Club Med the end of January 2004 The positive: Apparently well managed Club, courteous and helpful staff. Well designed village, lush tropical garden setting, meticuously maintained grounds, beautiful beach, generally good communal facilities, very good food relative to a corporate Club Med standard.Some minor problems: The gym is a bit short on equipment. The ping pong tables are of usual Club med poor quality but the net brackets in Ixtapa are made of plastic and totally incapable of holding the net properly.Major... more

Xmas-New year 2004 What I liked best....Great staff, kids activities, beach, food, and view. What I liked least....Beachfront rooms that are A) obstructed by metal window bars and tents out front your room... (Don't get a beachfront room) B)Shower water that went from scolding hot to cold with very little pressure at all (my hair was never clean), bugs and ants in the rooms..And Lastly but most importantly, expect you or your kids to get sick. I though that this resort was excellent. Everybody was very friendly, even the other guests. I liked sitting with other people during meals and thought the food was pretty good. They always had hot-dogs and burgers as well as specialty dishes. The shows weren't very good but they have plenty to do at night anyway. I would highly recomend it to anyone.
