Cititel Mid Valley

I have stayed there twice during business trips. The first time was fine but the second time, I notice that service had declined. It was difficult at times to get ahold of the operator and front desk. The phone would ring and ring with no anser. This did not happen the first time I stayed there. The rooms were fine, large enough and they even came with a fridge. The view was great. The food seemed a little greasy and I did get sick one day from the chicken. Not sure what's up with the spa. First weekend of Chinese New Year and it's packed. The adjacent mall is noisy and filled with rugrats, so ask for an upper floor if you want solitude. B'fast buffet is plenty... go early. They clean up on time. Room is clean, but internet access is not free of charge.

I stayed there for 3 weeks with my husband on a business trip. I think the hotel and staff have really changed and improved much. There were some problems with check-in and payment processes due to lack of experience and training of the staff, but they were really helpful and courteous, which compensated for what they lack, and they displayed a measure of professionalism. We travel to KL every year in the months of September/October. we generally stay in the Cititel Mid Valley because it is closest to our conference site. this year the smoky haze from the Indonesian farmers burning their fields hovered over KL for over a week, and was especially bad. the rooms had been renovated since last year, and the bathroom was much cleaner. there was no hot water for the first 3 days. the food and services were very good. Very small rooms. We had booked double but had twin beds. We were on a tour and some people travelling on their own were willing to twin share with people they didnt really know and they had to sllep very close and there was hardly room for luggage. Bathrooms very cramped. Lifts were breaking down and people had to walk down 17 floors to get to bus on time for tour (they had already waited 15 min for lift!) Breakfast ok but not flash. This is a very bad hotel. I stayed in the Pinnacle rooms which are supposed to be the best there but it was like staying in 50 year old hotel in a remote part of the country. Some of the things i noticed: 1. There was only intemmitent hot water to the shower (ie it turned cold suddenly every 20 seconds). Attempts by staff to fix this did not work. 2. The staff did not have a clue what they are doing. I tried to get some shirts ironed and they said it would take 2 days. 3. The television has only one international channel - BBC... more

I booked a room for a night on 21 Dec 2005 and paid cash upfront but forgot to take a receipt. My sister who was booked into another room with her family was asked to settle the bill when she booked out 2 days later as otherwise they would not let her leave. It is the responsibility of the employee to issue a receipt if the guest forgets. I would not trust them again.

The main plus for this hotel is it is very convenient for shopping. The foyer is nice but the rooms are small and the bathrooms badly in need of a good scrub/clean and upgrade. We had problems with checking in as they had booked our family into smoking rooms. The buffet breakfast is quite nice and the staff friendly. I would not return to this hotel because of the cleanliness of the bathroom.

The room is small and even on the high floor is still nosiy. The bathroom's condition needs a renovation as tap and shower hose... are in poor fitting. Wow... the mini fridge is dirty too. This place is centralized and many things to shop... but the restaurant for morning breakfast is like a massive attack for mainly locals there... Won't recommend anyone to choose this place... but the chinese restaurant has good food.

Stayed here for 8 nights June 04. Hotel is good value. Room service was also good. Rooms were ok nothing special. Had major problems checking in as they could not find our reservation and said they were fully booked. It was only when we made a fuss that they gave us a room. The hotel was very busy and not very peaceful at all, with kids and families everywhere. I lost my camera in my room and reception staff and management were EXTREMELY unhelpful. They would not let me back in the room to check the room. I asked them to write a letter... more
