Illa DOr Hotel Reviews
" This was my 7th visit to this hotel... "
Submitted By: Miss L Parry
This was my 7th visit to this hotel and the standard was exceptional. Although it was very good the first time I visited in 1997 this was the best it has ever been.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and are obviously trained to a high standard of customer service. Many of the staff have been there since my first visit and are very passionate about the place.
The rooms are cleaned to a very high standard with very friendly and trustworthy maids cleaning the rooms. The extra special touch of the chocolate on your pillow is very special.
The food has always been very good. The breakfasts are outstanding with such a variety. You can also choose to sit inside or out on the patio at the waters edge, this is nice in the morning as it is very sunny and although quiet there is a lot to look at. The hot breakfast is made in front of you and the bread and fruit very fresh. The evening meal is always very thought out and is different most nights.
The facilities are well kept and clean. The large outdoor pool is a good depth and the indoor fairly small but kept clean. Both pools are very well treated. The gym is small but the machines are modern and work well. There is also a sauna and steam room available. Along with the indoor pool in the basement is the spa and hair dresser which is always good to have.
The bar is outside with many tables to sit at and even rocking chairs. The bar staff are very fun and friendly and the service is immensely fast and always accurate. The drinks aren’t too over priced and complimentary nuts are always given with an order.
The internet is available in one of the two grand lounges where you can email home or just surf the net. Evening entertainment like dances and jazz bands are regularly based in the lounges.
The Illa DOr building itself is very beautiful and the layout is great. With the beach just on the door step of the hotel the sun always shines. The Sun beds are a good quality and there is a member of staff just to look after these along with the fresh daily beach towels and gardens.
This hotel really offers a great holiday for families or couples or those traveling alone. With a great atmosphere and clean, traditional decor I really feel at home. The memories last a long time.

" A lovely hotel in a lovely location.... "
Submitted By: Dr JA Glasspool
A lovely hotel in a lovely location. Quiet- most of the guests were elderly, but a sprinkling of children too. Right on the waterfront, but no beach to speak of. Nevertheless, there is a nice area where one can stretch out, with a bar close at hand, and the water, right by the hotel, is only a few inches deep. There is a stone- built pier. At the end of this, the water is about 5' deep.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was fine, we all felt. Spotlessly clean hotel.
NEGATIVE POINTS- Rooms 101-104 are on the first floor directly above the air con plant. It can be rather noisy and would disturb a light sleeper. Surely the holiday companies know this?? (But see below.)
My big mistake was to travel with Thomson- arrived back at Palma to find a 5 hour delay to the flight which turned into 7 hours. The Thomson staff at the airport were unhelpful and their explanation for the delay was different to that given by the captain of the aircraft when it finally arrived. They clearly don't care what they tell the punters, so long as it shuts them up. 2 other Thomson flights were seriously delayed too.
DON'T USE THOMSON!

The restaurant has an excellent menu to cater for every taste with just the right mixture of local cuisine and firm favourites and the waiting staff are polite and very attentive. That said, they are not too attentive and I never felt rushed.
In the evenings there are numerous local tallemts booked to perform in the hotel lounge. In the week that I was there I enjyed flamenco dancing, a jazz band and a string quartet. AL of whom were of the highest quallity.
The hotel guests on the whole appear ti be of the older generation but there were some famillies with young children evident. There are many good local bars and restaurants but the town of Pollensa Port is very much a traditional and unspoiled location. The bars are clean and of a good standard but there is one of the loud music and drunken youth that one might associate with many of the other areas of Majorca. This was my 3rd visit to Majorca and my 3rd visit to the Illa D'Or, it just gets better every time!
