really beach, mediocre flat
6 / 10
Sep 2011, miri

We were a team of 6 people and had booked 2 flats. At first sight it looked very homy. However, the bath turned out very filthy and the bath had become outdated. The beds were okay, however, it was dusty in the bedroom. Unfortunately, there creaked all doors. The kitchen was well furnished. The lounge beyond the single flats was very comfortable. The background noise in the building was very much loudly. A big plus was the nearness to the wonderful beach.

Studios are at the rear of the hotel- divided by a very busy street. Night revellers, tourist coaches stopping/picking up at all hours and then the recyling lorry arrives between 0530-0600 each day. Studios have good facilities and are kept very clean by the excellent maid service. We had studio 28 and asked to move and were given apartment No. 35. Same situation with noise at front. The single bed/couch room at the rear suffered with some sort of plant noise which appeared to come from the roof area. All the rooms appeared to be similar and could do with updating by good fitting double-glazing and updating the furniture as this is pretty shabby.
Some of the Hotel rooms are similary situated onto this busy road at the rear.
Would not stay here again!

stayed in the apartment block one row back from the sea, the room was dated and very basic but clean, the kitchen was too small to cook a meal in.
we stayed in room 33 and the noise from the street below is unbelievable coaches dropiing off, the bin lorry woke us up every morning about 5.00 am there is no double glazing in the patio windows.
the resort its self is beautiful.
but the bars and restaurants are so expensive For example for an average meal with two glasses of wine €40-45, a pint of beer 3.50 -4.00€ a Bacardi and coke €6.50.
If you are travailing with children I would recommend you go to a different resort or go self catering.
We normally go to Puerto da la cruz Tenerife were the price and the quality of the restaurants and bars are excellent.

Just spent ten wonderful days in the Daina. This hotel is managed & run with pride & passion. We can not speak highly enough about all the management & staff, extremly friendly & helpful. The food both at breakfast & dinner was superb, un-belivable selection available. We will have no hesitation about reurning in the future. The room had a fridge, hairdryer, flat screen telivision & WiFi

Good Value/Great Location

These apartments are failry basic, but clean and tidy. I stayed there with my wife and 2 children both under 4 in June 2009. Its fair to say you get what you pay for, as they are great value for such a central loction, 1 minute from both the beach and the square. The apartments also benifit from the use of the facilities at the Daina Hotel, which includes use of the salt water swimming pool set on the beach.
The staff are all very freindly and couldnt be more helpful, they even offered us a free upgrade into the hotel upon arrival.
On the down side, there is half completed building work next door, the view from the balcony isnt great (basically the back of the Daina Hotel) and the decor is a little dated.
Overall I would rate these apartments high if you are looing for good basic accomidation in a central location. If you are looking for 5 star its probably not for you.

Disappointing

What you should know! We arrived 8/8/2009 for 7 nights. Room 35, to enter you walk through a small communal rear facing balcony, the view from there is a concrete four story open plan Building site with a crane towering above. NO building work thank goodness but a real SHOCK, Disappointment set in immediately, if you can get that out of your mind the rest was ok, The Apartment is overdue a refurbishment it had and the two single beds that were very uncomfortable and the sofa bed in the lounge was past its best and not suitable for adults. Its location is noisy so go to bed late and the 1.00am bottle collection from the hotel does wake you up! No sea views from the apartment and the front balcony is very small also. The Resort is Lovely , go south for nicer wider beach and quieter time, and finally the “NO towel on sun bed “rule is not applied and sun beds are taken by 7.00 am at the salt water pool side ... that’s so sad Would we go again me the wife and daughter say No Thanks

we recently returned from 1 week stay in daina apartments having booked them ourselves. we have holiday twice before in puerto pollensa so we knew the location of the hotel/apartments. the apartment was "reasonably" clean but decor and furniture well past their best therefore the apartment looked shabby. the restaurant that was once beside the apartments - the tango - has been knocked down and they are in the process of replacing it with apartments. as a previous review states, there is no building work allowed during summer months but this does not get you away from the fact that you are basically holidaying on a building site !! unfortunately our first floor apartment was on the end of the building adjacent to the building site so the view from our balcony was pathetic - a narrow busy back street, a half completed building site and a telegraph pole laden with wires that we could practically reach out and touch. our other view was from the bedroom window and that was completely in the shadow of the building site next door. we could look through the partly completed building and see the tops of the trees on the square. i'm sure once this building is completed, other apartment windows will be looking right in on you and vice versa. we only saw the maid briefly on 2 occasions during the week. she was very pleasant and polite but carried out the minimum amount of cleaning. we would usually stay out of the town centre so found it quite noisy especially in the early hours of the morning with selfish fellow tourist shouting and yelling to each other with no regard for anyone else - tourists or locals. the pool area was lovely and my kids made good use of the salt water pool but would agree with previous reviewer that more shade is needed as it was mid 30s every day we were there. the staff were very pleasant but we would not stay in the aparments again.

We have just returned from a week a the Hotel Daina. - March 09
The hotel room had obviously been refurbished/decorated and was good with plenty of hot water.
The staff were very freindly and helpfull. There was a wide range of good food catering for all diets. The buffet was constantly topped up with freshly cooked food. The fruit & veg decorations were ingenious especially the dragons & vampire mice. The hotels location is ideal for cafes; shops; transport as well as the beach & harbour.
Being March, a lot of shops etc were closed but there was still plenty of choice available.
That said, the bus timetable on the 'Puerto Pollensa' web site is only operational May to October. Three of the routes do not operate at all during Nov - March, with the remaining ones on very restricted schedule.
There is still building works next to the Daina but we did not find these a problem. Work did not start till 7.30am and finished by 5.30pm. Most of the major structual work is finished - spent an interesting 1 hour watching a very large glass window being craned into place.....
The only downside we found was that the room walls are not very sound proof, plus there were about 30 cyclist staying in the hotel, some of whom did not remove their cycling shoes whilst in their rooms - sounded a bit like the beginners class of Riverdance.
If booking a seaview ask for an upper floor room - the lower floors have a tree in front of them so all you will see are branches. There are roof terrace rooms available, which catch the sun all day.

Having read some of the reports, we were a little worried that we might be staying in a building site! However, I discovered that Majorcan law demands that all major construction must end on 30 April, and cannot re-commence until 31 October. Consequently the site next door to the Daina is at a standstill and no noise, dust etc.
The hotel is excellent, we had a lovely room (508) on the side of the hotel with an excellent view (perhaps this will be reduced when the new building is finished?). Food quality was very high, choice excellent and overall the place was a great base. The resort is much as we remembered from previous holidays, but the days of the cheap holiday in Majorca are I am afraid a thing of the past. The high rate of the Euro means that food and drink is pretty expensive - I paid between 3.15 and 4.25 euro for a pint of local lager, and even a basic white coffee can be 2.00 euro (£1.60 ish). The pool area of the hotel is a real sun trap, although we did have some wind on one day, and a huge thunderstorm one night. Delighted with the place, and we would not hesitate in commending it to anyone.

Just returned after a weeks holiday...

Just returned after a weeks holiday 8-15 Mar 08. Definately one to avoid until the extensive building work within 20mtrs of the front door and rear of the hotel and the extensive rebuilding of the pool area is completed . On the plus side the staff are friendly and the food is ok but only just. On the negative side some rooms (eg R202) have no view at all where the balcony overlooks an internal wall and the sun never penetrates the bacony or the room.. The lounge area is a public cafe in the day and smoking is allowed in that area at all times. Entertainment advertised may or may not occur and the invitation to ask for games from the bar produced half a pack of cards and half a pack of dominoes. Did not expect a top quality hotel but expected better as they were one of only a few hotels open.

Stayed at the Daina Apartments in...

Jun 2007, Mrs J Graham

Stayed at the Daina Apartments in Puerto Pollensa for eight nights in May.
The apartments were tired and a bit gloomy and right next to the road - but
Were clean and we only paid £200 for the accommodation for 8 days for a family of four so what do you expect:0).
This was an extra little holiday we had booked because we found the flights so cheap, and we are having our main holiday in July for two weeks. Therefore we were keeping costs down.
If you are just wanting to enjoy the beautiful resort of Puerto Pollensa but are on a very tight budget go for it - how much time do you spend in the apartment anyway. If you have a bit more to spend go for the Daina Hotel rather than the apartments because it looks lovely.
We enjoyed using the Daina Hotel's pool which is right on the beach!
If you have never been to Puerto Pollensa before get yourself there-although there is lots of English tourists (strangely hardly any Germans) it still retains lots of Spanish charm, and is so beautiful, peaceful and very very relaxing.
Although it is fairly quiet my 8 year old and 6 year old love the place. Check out Tango's for a lovely meal and ask to sit in the garden if possible.

We booked into the Daina Apartments...
8 / 10
Jun 2007, Mrs G Rennie

We booked into the Daina Apartments which though a bit old fashioned, suited us very well, apart from the fact we climb two flights of stairs before discovering our room and the lift!
Although central we were not disturbed. Lovely double balcony to the back which had the sun most of the afternoon, whereas morning coffee was taken on the front balcony which overlooked the street, not too noisy but always comings and goings.
The pool is fabulous and the couches which are under cover overlooking the sea were great. Very central for everything and we ate out at various restaurants every night and one night had dinner in the hotel which was very pleasant though other restaurants were more outstanding.
First Choice were great and for once everything ran to plan. Would love to go back, but having difficulty finding these apartments through a company flying from Glasgow.
