This was our first visit to the Don Miguel Apartments and Puerto Pollensa although we have visited Majorca many times before.

The road outside the apartments was under construction but that didn't bother us much.

The walk into town is short and pleasant and there are great restaurants close by . Sinbads is a great place and cheap too although it can get a little chaotic at peak times, but that just shows how popular it is I suppose !

On the downside , as mentioned in a previous review the first thing we noticed on arrival at our flat was an extremely strong smell of paraffin gas . That problem was soon solved however when the water from our plumbing system came dripping through the ceiling of our neighbour's flat downstairs and we were upgraded to another one free of charge which was a lot bigger , with a fully equipped kitchen , well decorated bedrooms and odour free!

The reception and bar staff were always friendly and helpful and we had a great time overall.

The apartments are basic (circa 1980's decor!) but clean and tidy - we did have a toaster and an iron and the maids came regulary. The location is brilliant for the beach, shops etc and the new road is quiet and not a dual carriageway at all.

Puerto Pollensa is a lovely resort and great for families. We would like to visit next year and yes, I would stay in the Don Miguel again as its cheap!!! I am struggling to find anywhere for a similar price. For a family on a budget that wants to stay in a nice resort then you cannot go wrong.

We have just come back from a 10 day holiday staying in the Don Miguel apartments. The apartments were very basic and quite drab, the kitchen facilities were also very poor eg no toaster or iron and only two electric rings (no grill) the cleaners did a very basic clean and that was only when we reported it had'nt been done and our bedding had'nt been changed!!!It was eventually done. The reception staff were very helpful at all times. The pool was very cold but clean.... we were quite unlucky with the weather as we had a few days of rain and thunder and lightening.

The apartments were located close to all amenities, our apartment was 2A blue block which over looked a new road which was being worked on the whole ten days we were there, I think in a few months the road is going to be a very busy road. So be aware. There was also a very unpleasant smell within the apartment block which smelt of petrol/oil.

There are plenty of places to eat and drink, one which is good value for money is Simbads on the front and very pleasant service, also ambasordor was very nice with a good choice on the menu.

Puerto pollensa is a lovely place to stay with the pine walk and square a must, they also have a market on wednesdays in the market which is worth a visit.

We have just come back from a wonderful holiday at the Don Miguel. This was our second visit to Puerto Pollensa but first time to Don Miguel.

Our apartment was a 2 bed roomed apartment at the back of the complex (whole chunks of this area seem to be owned by Don Miguel/Panorama owners) and were built in the 1980's and not updated since. But they were clean not luxurious but workable.

Our children (aged 7 and 3 yrs) were as happy as we had a ground floor apartment which had a large area of garden which was mostly in the shade - a good thing as the sun is hot there.

Between our apartment block and the Panorama were some brand new apartments and shop and swimming pool and had a sign saying Don Miguel. We used the swimming pool here for 5 days whilst the place was relatively empty.

On the 6th day we were told we should not be using this pool but instead the one by the Hotel (across 2 small roads) which was busy but nice enough. We felt very lucky to have used the lovely salt water one in the apartments for so long! Still not sure how you book these fabulous looking apartments and use this lovely pool.

Don Miguel has the mountains behind, is in a quiet residential area, and is easy to find due to its very close proximity to the eyesore which is Pollensa Park Hotel...the only high rise in Puerto Pollensa. This made it very easy to find when we drove there from the airport though!

There are local shops and bars galore (try Rosa's Supermarket for a really friendly welcome and lovely bread). A 15 min walk (30min stroll with kids in tow) along the beautiful seafront takes you up into the town to the Marina, Market, and Pine Walk.

There's a good book swap library in the small British sandwich shop near Rosa's. It’s only open Tues - Sun daytimes but good for a toastie and beer on way back from beach and to change your book.

Try the Torre Playa restaurant along the front, 10 mins from Don Miguel for a fantastic meal. Avoid the Pine Walk restaurants where you pay lots for location but get little back in quality of food or service.

Remember to take your stale bread into the sea with you to feed the fish and get them swimming round your legs. The kids love it.

We will be going back to Puerto Pollensa next year. It’s brilliant.

I went as part of a party of 6 adults and 3 babies, our first holiday with the little ones, and I was quite apprehensive about the whole experience, but I shouldn't have been!

We pulled up outside the Hotel and were relieved that it at least didn't look like one of those hotels which makes you feel sorry for the poor people that depart the coach at that point, and immediately some of the residents started chatting to us - a promising and friendly start.

We walked into reception and were immediately offered an upgrade! - 1 3 bed apartment with air-con, satellite telly, dishwasher, washing machine, etc. rather than 3 1 bed apartments in the older (slightly dated) part of the complex.

We were thrilled (fortunately we are quite close friends!!), especially as we were much closer to the baby pool this way.

The apartment had everything we wanted (except a bin in the kitchen!?) and was easy to access for pushchairs etc. It was spotlessly clean and was visited every other day by the cleaning staff.

Even better... there was almost nobody else staying in the surrounding apartments so we had the place pretty much to ourselves the whole time. No danger of missing out on a sunbed if you got up later than 5am, we were spreading ourselves out and just getting up and moving to another lounger when the sun moved - it was luxury!

The "Recidenciale Don Miguel" is about a 2 minute stroll to the beach, and took us about 15-20 minutes to get to the "Pine walk" area of the resort.

There were beautiful views and plenty of shops to distract us on the way, and the walk gave us an opportunity to get the babies off to sleep on the way back from a leisurely evening dining in the numerous restaurants.

I would recommend this holiday to anyone with babies (or not) who want to stay somewhere peaceful, clean and thoroughly pleasant. I really had nothing to worry about and we are already talking about going back next year.

And to really round off the holiday - we had fabulous weather whilst the UK was suffering a week of rain!

Thank you Don Miguel - we had a great time!

Great apartments - great location!

Our first time to Majorca, Puerto Pollensa and the Don Miguel apartments and after reading other reviews we were a little worried about the quality of the apartments to say the least, but we were very pleasantly surprised!

As other people have said before, yes, the apartments are quite basic but at the end of the day they are only 2 stars so we weren't expecting luxury and were quite pleased with what we got! Our apartment was one bed roomed.

It was apartment 2A and we were in the apartment block that adjoins the Panorama Hotel. We were on the 2nd floor and had a fabulously large balcony that overlooked the pool area.

There were 2 single beds and ample wardrobe space there was also a bed settee in the lounge with further wardrobe space and shelving, there was a table and 4 chairs, heater and floor lamp.

The lounge and kitchen area were adjoined and the kitchen units were fairly modern and clean. There was a fridge with a small freezing compartment, a ceramic hob, kettle (non electric), toaster and iron. We too were a little disappointed at the lack of cooking utensils/oven/grill but this didn't really upset our stay too much.

The beds were comfy with sheets and bedspreads and there were blankets piled up for use. I agree that in colder weather these probably would not have been sufficient but we were lucky and had very pleasant weather while we were there.

The bathroom was a little dismal and could maybe do with some updating but it was clean and served its purpose. One of our only complaints was that the plumbing system throughout our block and apartment was rather noisy, but never the less, again didn't deter us from a lovely holiday.

The apartments were cleaned twice during our 6 day stay when beds were made and towels changed, this suited us just fine. Again, as other people have commented, the walls were quite thin on these apartments and you could hear noise from other areas of the block, but holiday makers tended to be families, couples and retired so not your regular 18 - 30 noise makers and not into the early hours of the morning and late at night.

We were told by other holiday makers that the apartments at the back of the complex were very luxurious with large rooms, dishwashers etc and also with another pool. This apartment block contained only 2 bed roomed apartments so be aware that if this is the kind of luxury you require then best to book a 2 bed roomed apartment.:-)

We used the pool area on several occasions and found it to be very clean and pleasant. Pool was rather cold but didn't expect anything more in April!

We didn't eat at the Don Miguel at any point as we ate out rather a lot in the main town.

Breakfasts and meals were available though as were safety deposit boxes in reception. We met various reception staff during our stay, all seemed pleasant and helpful - some more so than others. There was no entertainment during our stay even though it was stated that it was twice a week, we assume this is more relevant to the summer season.

The apartments were just 5 mins walk down a perfectly safe street to the beach. Along this street were several good supermarkets, Palms British bar and a couple of other small cafes.

The apartments were also directly opposite the rather large Pollensa Park Hotel. From the apartments it took approx. 15 - 20 mins to walk to the main part of the town with square and marina. This is a very pleasant walk along the sea front, again, with many bars/shops/cafe along the way.

Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful resort, lovely beaches, pleasant locals and the whole place felt very safe and none threatening. Our transfer from the airport took just 45 mins which was much quicker than expected and with plenty of lovely scenery to gaze at on the way.

We would particularly recommend Bony's Tea Shop in the square where we were constantly entertained by the very lively 'Jose'. He, Pablo and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and served mainly drinks with light meals at a very good price. Children's meals here were just 1 euro!

These are 2 star, not three. The apartments aren't heated, so don't go unless it's summer. We went in March, and it was very cold. There's a lot of noise from surrounding apartments and the fixtures are dodgy - we had 2 lights hanging off the walls.

The blankets weren't clean, and the cooking utensils were so rudimentary we had to buy some from the supermarket. Out of the main season, the reception isn't manned 24 hrs.

The patio doors wouldn't lock and the louvered external shutter wouldn't either, so little security. The only advantage they have is in being relatively cheap, but you might regret the saving.

The area is very good, plenty of restaurants and beautiful places to visit close by - better if you can hire a car.

My family spent 2 weeks in June 2005 at this resort and at the Don Miguel apartments and enjoyed our holiday so much that we were going to go back in June 2006.

However due to circumstances we didn't go but will make up for that by returning in June 2007. (We booked in November 2006 for next June to ensure we met our own requirements).

We have three teenage children and the location and facilities were ideal. Also the location allowed us quite easily to travel around. We booked a car for a few days but the transport facilities are good anyway.

Overall we had a very relaxing, enjoyable holiday last year, thus why we have re-booked. The fun, food and fiesta were all excellent.

We only paid £320pp for a week here and it was fantastic. Puerto Pollensa is very pretty and not too touristy, certainly no 18-30's to be found!

The restaurants shops and bars are all within walking distance and it was only a couple of minutes to the beautiful beach.

I have been to Majorca many times and now think that Puerto Pollensa is my favourite part. The apartments themselves were very clean, close enough to the local amenities and had a great pool for cooling off in the hot Balearic sun.

Fully recommended for those who want life but don’t want to stay in the middle of a hectic resort. 9/10!
