Aviz Hotel

Hotel Aviz is a small clean relatively new hotel which tries to hark back to a previous hotel in its literature. It is not an illustrious establishment with an a long history. But it is a good hotel for what it offers. Clean well appointed rooms, good staff, good location in business area. Do not expect a lot of old world or historical character in the hotel, there is none, this is a small modern hotel. This hotel has excellent staff. As a hotel, it's fairly standard; nothing would stand out as being exceptional. However, the people on reception and in the restaurant were lovely. Very professional, very helpful, always there for the guest. The location is also excellent. It's not right in the centre, but it's less than a minute's walk from the Marques de Pombal Metro station, and is therefore accessible from wherever you are. If you want staff you can trust, go to the Aviz.

I just got back from my stay at the Aviz. The room was great, the location is good -- just a block away from a subway stop However the best part was the staff. They were uniformly friendly and helpful -- They helped with directions, quickly got me good cabs etc. Highly recommended.

Excellent four star hotel! We spend one week in Hotel Aviz in march 2007. Location of the hotel is in business area, so there's no nightlife around. This means good night's sleep. Taxi and metro are around corner (both reasonably prized). You can also walk downtown via boulevard. Hotel is very clean and classy. Breakfast is served with fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. Both Lisbon and Hotel Aviz exceeded our expectations. We loved our stay!

We have just returned from a three night stay at the Aviz and can confirm all of the good comments made by previous reviewers. The hotel was moddern and well fitted out without losing the old world charm. The standard room could have been a little larger but the size of the bathroom more than made up for the lack. Just returned from a week at the Aviz. It met and exceeded all expectations. We booked the signature suite for 3 nites using priceline and the following two nites in a double room using Otel.com (they let us stay in the suite for the entire time). The room was exceptional - extremely comfortable, large, clean and wonderfully decorated. The bathroom was huge, covered in marble with two sinks and the funny second toilet thing that women seem to like. Great 4 star city hotel. I got an excellent rate for 2 days, including (an excellent) breakfast. The room, public areas and restaurant were true 4 star, everything extremely clean. It’s located on the main bus route to/from the airport, and approximately 5 to 10 minutes walk to the city centre, making this an ideal hotel if you want a central location but not the noise. As its located in a more business area, is very quite at night time.

I don't normally write reviews but wanted to say what a lovely time we had here. Our room was very nice. I liked the breakfast buffet. The king sized bed was just like mine at home. We got very good at using the subway (only steps away) and found ourselves all over Lisbon as a result. One night we visited the Cabot shopping centre with over 420 stores. It was a nice place to spend and evening and I especially enjoyed "Ice IT" and the gelatos on the 3rd floor. The flea market on Saturday was wonderful! The Bario Alto is great at night.... more

My review has my top five tips about staying at Hotel Aviz and Lisbon, and my top three suggestions for improvement. TOP 5 TIPS 1. The hotel is at a great location, very central. Taxis are easy to find (or front desk will order them for you) and provide a cheap way of getting around town (7 euros to the Barrio Alto). We just got back from our first trip to Portugal, where we spent 4 nights at this 70-room hotel. At the end of our stay my husband told the desk clerk, "I can't find a single thing wrong with this hotel, and I usually can." I agree. The location is excellent, one block off the Avenida des Liberdades, less than a 5 minute walk to the nearest subway station at Pombal.
