In a city that seems to be decaying and dirty, this hotel on Via Roma was a real gem. Access to the 5th Floor lobby by lift, delightful friendly english speaking staff,, good sized rooms, good lounge area, reasonably priced drinks,. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Ambasciatori for three nights with our two children (aged 11 and 14) as part of a two-week trip to Sicily. We had a massive quad room (queen/king size plus two singles) on the first floor, over-looking Via Roma. The room seemed to have been recently renovated with very tasteful and comfortable furnishings. Like Palermo itself this "hotel" (it's really a B&B) has a kind of a fading charm that eventually wins you over. The breakfast on a rooftop veranda is no great shakes but the view out over the city is terrific. We had a rather large room but it was old and looked like it had not been remodeled since the 1930s. The bathroom was small with a barely functional shower but I'm told the newly renovated rooms on the upper floors are much nicer. As others have noted the location is very good. Although we didn't find the staff here particularly friendly or helpful, the real selling point of this hotel is the quality of the rooms and the location. The room was basic (modern minimalist in a good way!), well decorated and very clean - it definitely felt like you were getting value for your money. It was slightly noisy during the day but in the evening and overnight when the area of the city quietened down it was absolutely fine. This hotel has a beautiful patio with a view of the City Centre where you can eat breakfast and enjoy after dinner drinks. It defintely made our stay worthwhile. This hotel is in the middle of the old city and we enjoyed taking a day to explore this area of Palermo. We had an excellent dinner at Nabucco (ask the front desk for the location) even if we did feel like we were on the set of the Godfather. The room was quiet and clean although very small. The Hotel was excellent, very clean, wonderful breakfast. And we loved all receptionists , all very helpfull ( the 2 ledies were very kind and helpful , any time we asked somethyng they were smiling and kind )

We stayed in the Ambasciatori for two nights. The hotel staff was very nice in general. When I booked, I asked for a room with a view. Actually I got this, but the point was that all rooms with a view are facing Via Roma. This means that the traffic noise is really hard to bear if you are not used to it. The view from my room was the same as from the terrace. I already read here that the terrace is amazing - I did not get dissapointed! Stayed at the Ambasciatori for a couple of days on a short visit to Palermo. We stayed on the 5th floor and found it to be excellent. Fitted windows were very effective in cutting the noise down, and with an AC, it was very confortable to sleep at night. The bathroom was in our room. It fit our family of four quite well. really good hotel for visiting palermo. convenient for the station where the airport bus stops. although it is on a busy road with night traffic the noise wasn;t such that it kept you awake at night. it was really convenient for walking to the different sites and near to many restaurants and bars for the evening. the best part of the hotel is of course the roof terrace for breakfst or relaxing after a days sightseeing. really large and well furnished, a pleasure. very good breakfast, plenty of selection for all tastes. the staff on... more

Many guide books rate this hotel in it's budget section, but we found it to be a superbly run hotel. Fairly priced, very clean, and with a helpful and very pleasant staff. We have no hesitation in recommending it highly Tania & Don Leaver.
