Submitted By: live4holsOn arrival the hotel looked impressive. The hotel was fab.
A special mention must go to Danni and Claire the entertainment duo. They made our holiday, the entertainment was the best that we have ever seen in Majorca hotels.
The position of the hotel is amazing! The food was very tasty. (Back to w.w)
The only negative was that the hotel had a few o.a.p's staying there , they were obviously regulars , that thought they owned the hotel. We had just arrived, jumped in the pool and one of them came over to tell us that we couldn't play with a ball in the pool. WHAT !!! Adult hotel , but no fun !!!!! She carried on to tell me that it was because the o.a.p's were going in to swim .............:( What a laugh

Submitted By: Miss H FosterThe best thing about this hotel is the food. We have been to lots of different hotels, half board or full board, and no hotel matches up to the Son Matias for quality and variety of food. The food is always hot and being renewed regularly. Breakfast is perfect, lots of choice, all very well cooked. Dinner is even better - they even make a normal salad selection taste fantastic! Loads of choice (my mum is fussy and always filled and emptied her plate!!)
The hotel is very clean, very well looked after and the staff are very friendly and efficient. We liked being able to hire the TV in our room with lots of English channels (which came in useful on the one day that we had rain) and being able hire and fill our own fridge
The hotel does cater for the older generation and at 31 I felt very very young (I liked it!) and even at 64 my mum didn't feel too old!! But everyone is very friendly and helpful and I found the atmosphere relaxing and laid back.
One point to note - if you want a sun bed round the pool during busy months then be prepared to queue. The terrace opens at 8.30 am and we queued from 8am to get our sunbeds. Having said that the beach is on your doorstep and a good alternative to the pool (9 euros for 2 sunbeds and a parasol) and we did this for 2 days out of our week.
The location of the hotel is fantastic. Opposite a parade of shops, bars and cafes and also a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Magaluf.
Overall - a brilliant holiday.

Submitted By: Miss M Szczepanowskithe food was fantastic especially breakfast. i was 8 weeks pregnant at the time and was hard to please food wise but always found something i could stomach and often wished i faniced more as it all looked so good. Drinks were average priced but we sat on the balcony more than in the bar as we were the youngest in the hotel as the average age is 60, but i wouldnt let this put any younger travellers off as we found all the guests freindly and enjoyed mixing.
the pool is clean and there is plenty of sunlungers although if your not early enough theres only the shaded areas left, its usually quietened down by 1pm and more choice though. entertainment is aimed at the older clientel and the young british girl tries hard but most arnt interested. Evening entertainment wasnt up to much but again you have palma nova and magaluf on your doorstep so not a problem
location couldnt be better, parking is no problem and free the only negative i have about the holiday is the man who sits outside it every night playing the harmonica i wanted to strangle him by the second week and thats not the hotels fault, but his repetative music was really grating on me every night all night, it can also be a bit noisy early morning from the beach if you like a lie in.
we would def go back but the chance of us having a child free holiday in the next few years are slim but if we ever do this will be the hotel we go to

Submitted By: georgeoneWe have nothing against kids but it was nice to be able to sit down and not hear kids squealing and bawling to all hours and running all over the place.
The staff are great and will do anything for you... this is a hotel for adults only... well no kids under 16.
ALL ROOMS LOOK OUT TO SEA ...we asked for a high room and were on the 7th floor - what a view. The weather was not at its best in December but was ok for having a little walk.
Plenty of entertainment... join in and make some friends.
Room was nice size and well cleaned. Bar might be a little on the expensive side.
If you are what is called a bit more mature and want to enjoy a holiday, try the Son Matias, honest this is great.
Plenty choice with the meals and plenty to eat.
The beach is about 20 yards away... a small pool but as said the beach is right on your door step.
We will be back but earlier in the year to get some sun. Please try it you will not be disappointed.
Have fun...WE DID... Thank you Son Matias, see you next year. George & Elsie.

Submitted By: Mr N GriffthsAnd the food was amazing. The only downfall about the hotel is that the clientele is older, as I went with my partner we are both 22 we were the only young people in the hotel didn’t really bother us though as we were always out partying lol
" A lovely Hotel, warm welcome staff,... "
Submitted By: Mrs P BownThe swimming pool is clean, lots of available loungers. The pool bar was closed when we were staying there, however I believe it would be a wonderful asset.
The views are out of this world, right across the bay. It is a quiet hotel, no children whatsoever were there, and I believe it is an adult’s only hotel, no under 16's.
It was my husband’s birthday on our arrival and we came back to a bottle of Cava and the staff had sent a card. He was touched by this gesture and it made our stay more memorable.
What’s more is the entertainment in the height of the season would be great, it was the start of the season and just getting going... although I understand the hotel is open all year round, so I don’t know if entertainment is provided throughout the winter months also.
The daytime activities break the boredom and most people get involved in these activities.
All in all it is a lovely Hotel and would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t got children and wants a break from the screaming and shouting that can sometimes spoil a relaxing holiday.

Submitted By: CHERRY19322Entertainment very good, organised game and competitions for all ages most of the day.
Temperature high 60f -low 70s.
It is located on the beach where most of the games are played.
We are pensioners and what we liked was no children under 16 years old.
We were there two weeks before Christmas, and intend to go back this year for Christmas.

Submitted By: Mr P M DunkleyVerdict - a great hotel worthy of its 3 stars in an equally great resort (Palma Nova).
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Guests all seem to know each other (they come back, year after year) and are prepared to chat at the drop of a hat. Entertainment a bit too "elderly" for me but ok if you are into old-time dancing and bingo.
Cabaret turns very varied - some excellent, some not so good (but then that's the same everywhere). The absence of children is a definite plus.
Drawbacks: - Bar prices a bit steep. Whole place feels rather like a comfortable old folks' home. Food isn't always piping hot. BEWARE the langoustines on the salad counter.

Submitted By: Miss S BrearThe food was brilliant there was even a Mexican theme night where some of the staff dressed up! With the beach right outside the views were amazing. It was so good that we are going back this October and taking my parents it was fabulous! I’m so looking forward to going again!

having the beach at hand is very good shops are handy and Palma Nova a lovely resort.
I take pensioners with me every year and the staff fall over themselves helping them and making sure everyone and everything is 100%.
We diet for our holidays so we can eat the lovely food and there is something to suit everyone
excellent!!!!!!

Submitted By: Mrs R GriffithsThe entertainment was not actually to our choice as we don’t do bingo and ballroom dancing etc, but once again you cannot please everyone and at least entertainment was provided. We would of liked to of seen some younger activities available because the hotel seemed to cater for 60 and upwards the particular week we were there. One of the most impressive things available to guests was the electronic scale available free of charge in reception in order to weight your cases and cut out the cost of excess baggage. This was an adult only hotel which also suited us. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and will definitely stay there again.

The hotel is a little smaller than the usual ones in Majorca, with just 135 rooms over 9 floors. It’s position could not be improved upon….right on the front with a nice flat promenade outside the front door. All rooms have either a full sea view [ room numbers ending 1-6] or side sea view [room numbers 8-14] The full sea view rooms have sun in the early morning and the side sea view rooms have sun till about 3.00pm.
All rooms numbers ending in 7 are corner suits, which looked very nice, with both front & side sea view and are larger and have such thinks as a sofa and separate shower.
Our room was well maintained, with everything working, and looked as though it had been redecorated within the last 12 months or so. We originally asked for a front sea view, but decided to change for a side sea view room to get the afternoon sun, and this was not a problem to the hotel staff, who I have to say were very helpful and friendly.
The hotel does not take children, is 100% occupied by British guests, and consequently had food which suited us….such as Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pud on Sundays, Porridge as a breakfast choice etc. I know there are always people who would like to be a bit adventurous on holiday as far as food is concerned, but everyone we spoke to said the food choice was great, with something for everyone’s taste.
The majority of guests at this time of the year are in the 55+ age range, so I am not sure it would appeal to young people, particularly in winter, when most of the outside bars and clubs are all closed.
Again because the hotel is catering for British guests only, the entertainment was also good. At this time of the year we were expecting to be entertained by a man on a piano in the corner! but most nights the acts were highly watch able, usually British singers although we did watch an acrobatic act one night, which was very enjoyable.
There is also lots of daytime activities such as shuffleboard, darts competitions etc for anyone who is interested, and daily quizzes as well as a 4.00pm tea dance….although none of this is compulsory. The entertainment team of Claire & Danni did an excellent job keeping us all occupied particularly on days when the weather was not too good.
The only thing which we found could be improved upon was the fact that the smokers room, is adjacent to the main lounge and you had to go through the smoking area to get outside to the pool area or the promenade, which none smokers found not very pleasant.
All in all we enjoyed our holiday here, and we would recommend it to others. We will defiantly be going again.
