the hotel is in a perfect location right on the sea front. there are not enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel and people que from 7.30 to be let into the pool area to grab a bed - the staff do not police the sun beds and people leave their towels on there and disappear... more

I am awarding four and it is for the location and the happy ladies that looked after our room every day. We visited this hotel ten years ago and to be honest the decor has changed very little and the rooms were very dissappointing. We had a fantastic holiday then and... more

The cleaning standards are good and the cleaners are friendly. Only one bar man friendly from the whole bunch of them. The food is acceptable and plenty of choice but you need to be in early otherwise you can get a cold meal. The rooms are fine, quiet with sea views. If... more

The hotel on the whole is not to bad, the hotel location is excellent. This is our 3rd year of going, & will probably be the last because of a few reasons being (a) the cost of the holiday has gone up by a helluva lot this year. (b) people queuing early to get a sunbed... more

You can't go wrong!
Had a great holiday at Hotel Santa Lucia. Will definitely be back again. Location is fantastic, right on a small headland between two gorgeous beaches. Lots of shops/bars/restaurants in close proximity. No noise at night, despite being in a busy resort. Friendly staff, all of whom are polite and curteous and speak good English. Rooms a bit basic, but comfortable with air con . Paid for safety deposit box and a fridge. Our flight was delayed meaning that we missed dinner on our first night, but when we got to our room we found that the hotel had provided sandwiches, fruit and drink on a complimentary basis, a fantastic gesture, as we did not really fancy going out to eat at 11pm! The walls are a bit on the thin side, but we had no problems with being woken/unable to get to sleep. The food was great, both morning and evening with something for everyone, and lots of it! If anyone moans about the food, it is not the hotels fault, the reviewer is just fussy!!!!!! Pool area is busy, and sunloungers get snapped up early in the morning, but hey, the beaches are feet away, who needs a pool? Son Matias beach is the best one. Hire sunloungers for 3 euros each per day. Umbrella's same cost. Bargain. Check out the sand sculptures on Palma Nova beach at night. They are unbelievable! Go to Golf Fantasia, even if you do not like crazy golf! 3 x 18 hole courses, set out amongst waterfalls, caves and gardens, open until 1am. Really, I would say you cannot go wrong with a holiday here. If you don't enjoy it, I blame you!!!!!!!!!!
nice hotel
we have just returned from a week at the santa lucia 22 july brilliant hotel reception staff good, food good plenty of choice sunbeds at hotel a joke taken every morning with towels from guests who have probably gone out for the day. the only downside to this hotel is the upstairs sun decking area which is falling apart needs replacing. overall very enjoyable rob Midlands
late booking value for money
got my resorts mixed up with this late booking and ended up at the santa lucia, palma nova (blackpool with sun). After initial doubt i find myself saying would go back to resort for right price, but maybe different hotel. however, hotel clean, staff friendly, breakfast good choice. Dinner dubious, tho salads good. got me thinking hotel caterer should bin the english food and instead of doing english food badly could do spanish food really well! agree with other comments, that pool small and it is a must to be up early for sunbeds. outside bar area pleasant with good snack selection. entertainment poor, but perhaps just not my taste! excellent position on beach. booked 2 trips thro reps. the first a horse riding trip which i really enjoyed being a total novice. the second trip to see `pirates', was big disappointment. expected full evening entertainment but finished at 9pm. food stingy portions and worst of all trip overbooked and we ended up jammed into seats with poor views of what in fairness would have been a cracking show. it was a dear night out to sit in the wings and just get leathered on the sangria! so ask reps where you going to sit if you decide to go. all in all, would not have chosen hotel or resort had it not been a late booking, (2 days prior). but as said previously, would go again for a cheapie, and has opened my eyes to hotels with half board basis, as always done self catering.
Fab short break
My wife, daughter (aged 5) and i have just returned from a four day break to the hotel Santa Lucia in Palma Nova. This is the first time we have done a short break booked at the last minute from the web site. All i can say is what a pleasant, clean and comfy hotel this was. the hotel is as described by others in an excellent location with great views over both bays. On arrival we were met at reception by two members of staff who both spoke excellent English. Our room was on floor 6 and was clean and tidy. it had the usual things safe, fridge (deposit payable) tv (with BBC 1 & 2, sky news, eurosport) bath/shower. the view was great over one of the bays. the pool is pleasant but the area around the pool is cramped and you do have to get up for 8am to grab a lounger as they do go very quickly. However both the beaches are equally clean with lovely clear water. we only ate breakfast which was buffet style and filled a hole. Mind it is a bit hectic around 9am when the bun fight begins trying to get served but there is no rush when you are on your hols. outside the hotel there is a clean promenade which has plenty of shops bars and restaurants to try. behind the promenade on the main streets are even more bars, restaurants and shops giving you plenty to do on an evening. We never saw the hotel entertainment as we were out every evening. With having a 5 year old with us there was not much in the hotel for children apart from the pool but this did not effect us as we were in the pool or the sea all day. Overall we had a great break with no complaints due to the great location, hotel, weather and people. Would recommend to anyone
watch out for the pensioners!
i stayed at this hotel on the 19th may 2007 for 14 nights. i travelled with my partner and my seven month old son along with some other family. The hotel is situated in a fab location right on the sea front with all rooms having great sea views! When checking in the reception staff were friendly and helpful but thats where the friendliness ended! Our room was on floor 6 with adjoining rooms to a very elderly couple so that put me off a bit as i was worried about the baby waking them up as he wakes through the night and also the lifts are VERY DANGEROUS as they have no sensors and you have to rush in and out before they close on you. I could not travel up or down in the lifts without the pensioners tutting or huffing because i had the buggy with me so we ended up having to change down to a lower floor so we could carry the buggy up and down! Going in for breakfast was very hectic and stressful with the waitresses being very RUDE and IGNORANT and refusing to find you tables so we ended up just walking round and round the dining room for ages trying to find tables. Dinner was still hectic but at least you were sitted at a table! Food was okay but did get a bit boring towards the end of the fortnight as the same with every hotel. Pool area very small compared to the size of the hotel and with the army of pensioners waiting an hour before the pool opened to get sunbeds you dont have a chance. Entertainment at hotel very poor with little or nothing to do for children. More geared for the elderly guests. I would NOT recommend this hotel for anyone under the age of 70!!
On the beach...But expensive
Great hotel situated beside the sea. Fantastic sea views from all rooms. Food was fab, buffet style. Meal times are hectic though! But you dont have to fight for a table. The pool area isnt too big, and all the sun beds get taken up with the usual towels, although the pool was empty!! Not much for children. Came back last week and the hotel was full of pensioners. We did feel a bit out numbered...Might be different during the Peak season. Would definately recommend ear plugs, because you can hear the guests next door. Hair dryer and Television are free. The safe and fridge you pay and leave a deposit.. Booked a trip with the Thomson rep on the 'LazyDays' cruise, walked all the way round Palma Nova to catch the boat and it didnt turn up...Paid £78, managed to get a refund, but spoilt the day. Shop around for the trips cause they rip you off in the hotel! WATCH OUT...there are NO sensors in the lift doors....very dangerous. I witnessed a few people getting there arms banged and caught.
Great Location with wonderful views over beach
We stayed at the Santa Lucia for one week in April 2007. This was our second visit to this hotel in 5 years. The hotel has changed hands during this time, but the hotel lived up to our expectations. Our room was basic but the main thing clean and comfortable with a small fridge (rented at a small charge). The plus point being the superb view across the bay from our balcony (every room as a full sea view), which is wonderful to wake up to each morning. We consider this hotel to have the best possible position on the whole of Palma Nova Beach. Meals are buffet style, good selection and plenty of it. Despite earlier reviews, the food was hot and the vast range on offer catered for everyone. One plus point, if anyone visiting the Santa Lucia Hotel is vegetarain they are well catered for with a good option range. The dining room staff did a good job and the head waiter and his staff were always cheerful when you entered for both breakfast and dinner. The room maids did a good job and our room was cleaned before 10.30 am each day of our stay. The reception staff were helpful. There is a small shop in the reception area were you are able to rent books, beach towels, folding chairs and wheel chairs etc., They also sell a range of small gifts and general items with any profit going to charity. Once more the staff were cheerful and helpful. Good hotel for the less mobile to stay at with a flat walk to the promenade and beach. Good selection of Cafe Bars, Small Supermarket type Shops and Gift Shops close by. We enjoyed our one week stay at the Santa Lucia Hotel and although in our opinion the rooms are basic the location, views, good food range and well maintained public areas of the hotel make up for this.
Not great for Light Sleepers....
My Sister and I (21 & 19) have just returned from the Santa Lucia Hotel, it is a nice hotel, I had read a few reviews and I was not too worried about this hotel. When we arrived we were told our room was not ready, which was fine as it was only 10am! We went for a walk around to get our bearings, I cannot fault the location of this hotel- it is brilliant!! It is perfect for the bars and shops and the beachfront location is perfect! The rooms are a good size with a nice bathroom; most rooms have a view of the beach, which is a nice view of the crystal clear waters of Palma Nova. The food in the hotel was nice, it changed daily, however it all seemed to taste the same after a while so it was nice to have a break and go out for a meal- I can recommend GODFATHERS in Magaluf- it is a lovely restaurant and very well priced! (The calzone is yummy!!) The Prince William Pub is a good night out, good drink offers- and they show all the soaps too. BEWARE at dinner in the hotel of the hostesses, they come around and take your drink order but when giving you your change they short change you by 10 cents here, 50 cents there, it may not seem to much but if you think how many people they serve a night- it soon adds up! The breakfast was the same every morning, again it was nice the first few days but it became mundane after a while. The rooms as I said before are good, the beds are comfy- HOWEVER- if you are a light sleeper the doors banging shut all the time may annoy you. Whether it is first thing in the morning or at night, ranging from 10pm through to 1/2am!! Also the walls are very thin, so much so that you can tell if next door are having a shower or watching the TV. The hotel pools are great, it was too cold for the out door one but the indoor one was nice and warm, the sauna and steam room only work until 5 pm so it is best to get in to them early. Apart from these few little problems it is a nice hotel, I would go back however I would go back during peak season when it is a little more busier out and about in Palma Nova/ Magaluf.
Great location
Stayed here with my boyfriend in may 2006 and found the hotel to be very clean and friendly. The rooms were quite basic but very cool during the nightime which is great because its baking outside and theres fantasic views, we went all inclusive and was very impressed with the layout of food. The thing i most enjoyed was the location the hotel is literally on the beach and there are local shops for all your needs lining the street 30 seconds away. The beach was beautiful and stretched for miles around. There were loads of sunbeds which you could hire for 10 euros all day, people selling melon, pineapple pieces and drinks. Great water sports. The only bad thing i have to say about the hotel is that the pool area is tiny and not many people can fit around it but with a beach two seconds away it doesnt really matter. Nightlife within the hotel is not very good but if you walk five minutes in either direction you get a taste of either local bars and street entertainment at one end and lively bars and nightclub the other. Being in the middle of these two different experiences gives your holiday a little mix and your great a great nights sleep as its very quiet when your ready to settle down for forty winks. Id reccomend this hotel for couples and families
Early closing dining room.
Owing to an hour hold up at Birmingham airport we were later arriving at the hotel than we should have been. We were a party of 60 senior citizens. We arrived to find only one person on reception to give keys to the whole group. This took more than one hour. When we arrived at 8.30pm we were told the dining room had closed (at 8.30pm). There was no room service available and the only thing for sale over the bar was crisps. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were pleasant.
