I am awarding four and it is for the location and the happy ladies that looked after our room every day. We visited this hotel ten years ago and to be honest the decor has changed very little and the rooms were very dissappointing. We had a fantastic holiday then and returned with enthusiasm - sadly it was a disaster.
We booked a twin high room and understand that the location is subject to availabiltiy but not the status of the room. To be allocated in a double first floor room above the noisy drop off area was not on!!!
When i told reception i had not been given what i paid for ie twin room they were very hostile and told me the hotel was full and that there was no alternative. Matters got worse at 4am when our very noisy aggressive neighbours arrived home and we could hear all bodily functions of strangers through the connecting doors. When i went to reception to discuss this problem there was a drunk lady behind asking for her case. She was not asked to leave the area and she listened in to my complaint and told me to get ear plugs and laughed. The gentleman on reception clearly had been told about the complainer in room xxx and said very aggressively you have been told we are full - no change no more rooms!!! When I asked him what he was prepared to do about the distressing situation we found ourselves in at that time he put the security guard up to ask the arguing new arrivals to quieten things down.
i will say the thomson rep sorted this and forty hours after we arrived we had what we paid for - a twin room.
The sun terrace is very run down and towels are put down all day and in most occassions beds were not used until after lunch. In the bar areas we were treated like second class citizens when they saw our all inc band. What really annoys me is we have paid for this drinks and deserve to have them served by someone that appears to want to interact with us. When i went into cocktail bar they looked at my band and said "go next door to drink not here". they made no attempt to serve me - surely they should have offered to serve me as I had no problem paying for an area not covered in the all inclusive deal - I was not given the option!!!
We will never return to this run down, rude reception and bar staff hotel ever. Alas i posted this on thomson site and they never posted it. That to me is devious they should post all comments!!!
- Advice: Eat and drink out only sleep there and avoid reception

we do not normaly go away at this time of the year but due to a big b.day in sept we did,we stayed at the santa lucia in oct/nov 2010 and found it quite exceptable so it was the choice for this holiday, yes you have to queue for the sunbeds but if no one is seen to use them within an hour feel free to remove the towels,if you find the food is not hot enough for your palet then there are microwave ovens in the dining rooms you can use to heat it up.Entertainment is basic but is varied the bingo only lasts for twenty mins and you could be winner .The location
is ideal with a beach either side and lots of well stocked shops and some very nice local bars and restrants bus service is cheap and frequent, and only approx 45 mins to airport all said not a bad holiday really the sun shone every day 29 to 33 no upset tummys and no delays at the airports.

Just arrived back from a 2 weeks stay at the santa lucia this was our 10th stay at the holiday, on arriving you are welcomed with a smile and welcome back, but when we went up to our room i was not happy the room was not sea view well you could just about see it, so off i went down to the desk and they were so helpful i was given a room on the side that we have always had 529 i would like to thank the man and young girl that was on the desk on 2/8/11 around 12 oclock for all there help.
The only thing that lets the hotel down are the beds they are so hard, the rooms are always clean and all the staff are friendly, i dont know about the bar staff as we never drink in the hotel.
I would also like to say maggie and rob from the shop in the hotel are so helpful and friendly ( thanks for the air beds lol ).
Hope to see you all again next year

The cleaning standards are good and the cleaners are friendly. Only one bar man friendly from the whole bunch of them. The food is acceptable and plenty of choice but you need to be in early otherwise you can get a cold meal. The rooms are fine, quiet with sea views. If you want to join a bunch of approx 700+ bingo and quiz lovers then this hotel is the place for you but if you want an enjoyable night sat in comfort, listening to good music (or even background music) or listening to a pleasant entertainer then the Santa Lucia is not the place to go as I can only describe it as being like a Working Man's Club in England at night! If you are able to go in the sea and on the beach during the day the positioning of the hotel and the beach couldn't be better but if you are a pool lover then be prepared to queue up at 7.30 a.m. to get yourself a sun bed otherwise you are sat on plastic chairs all day around the pool.
- Advice: Go on the beach during the day and go out at night to another hotel in the vicinity if you are able.

just home from 1 week ai, at the santa lucia, very much enjoyed our stay, hotel and staff where very wellcoming, nice sea view. a good choice of food was available, enjoyed every meal, most night 2 roast to choose from or 2 fish course, plenty of salads and crusty bread. craig and sonia did great entertainment at lunch time darts, pool, putting and wi games, all fun and great for meeting other guests. i do beleive there are queues for sunbeds but if there left for 1hr you can take the towels off and enjoy you sunbed, but with a lovely beach on the doorstep why bother. bingo with prizes of 50 euros for a line and 250 euros for the house not bad for a 2 euro ticket or a book for 10 euro i would say, the jacpot 12 game was worth a go, someone won 910 euros for a 2 euro raffle when we where there, great entertainment at night, elvis, the jacksons and more, the fridge at 17 euros for the week was expensive but we also used it as our safe as you have a key, location great for a quiet night sleep but a short walk for being in the busy streets, looking forward to going again next year

Just arrived back from santa lucia 1 week all inclusive myself and my husband age group 38-44 worst holiday ive ever had. People queing from 5.45am to get a sunbed hotel will not open the doors to go outside till 8am i counted 78 people on one morning at 7.30am really do not need this on holiday!!! guests mainly elderly would reserve 8-10 beds for there family who were staying in a near by hotel is that fare to people who were and paid for that hotel? after complaining nothing was done sun beds were so close to each other no space thats not nice. location was fantastic shops straight outside the hotel but if you buy a paper from hotel will cost you 40 euro more safety deposit box £50 for a week and a fridge which is in your room £18 per week, bar staff were very army like bar opens at 10am i asked for a juice at 9.59am with a attitude i was told to come back when they were open wot 30 seconds! when i pay £1400 where is the manners and customer service was not there.food all i did was queue for each course and it was cold food was awful staff had no manners unless you were half board so in the hope of a tip came a smile santa lucia never again my holiday was a big dissapointment
- Advice: take a portable chair with you because all you do is queue for absolutely everything

The hotel on the whole is not to bad, the hotel location is excellent.
This is our 3rd year of going, & will probably be the last because of a few reasons being
(a) the cost of the holiday has gone up by a helluva lot this year.
(b) people queuing early to get a sunbed when terrace doors open at 8, sometimes the towels are on the bed s all day & not been occupied.
(c) the entertainment staff walk about as if they own the hotel, did not lay on any entertainment either during the day or evenings, until they had lots of complaints, but even then they let down some boys with learning difficulties occasionally.
(d) entertainment same old & most evenings very boring, some of the acts were more suited for afternoon shows for the kiddies instead of evenings.
(e) they play bingo every evening but even that is a con
most hotels pay out whatever money is taken in, but not this one, one night we tried to count how many tickets were sold, it was around 800 but the payouts were 10 euro's the line & the house varied between 50 - 100 euro's, when I confronted the entertainment staff I was told some of the money went to paying the acts, so in fact guests are paying twice for this as the brochure states that there is cabarets acts in the evening, & this reflects in the cost of the hotel & then out of our money that we pay for bingo,
(f)they also do a kind of raffle like open the envelope which is carried over if not won, the first draw is for a bottle of cava, but if you win this you cant enter the money draw, most people want to win the money not cheap plonk, & sometimes they dont put the winning envelope out so they can build up the winnings, & even then all money collected is not used for winnings, & was it just a coincidence last year over 14 days it rolled over to the last 2 envelopes.
As I said we are going back this year to see if any changes have been made as we put in complaints last year & ti see if our voices were heard, but this could well be the last time if not.

the hotel is in a perfect location right on the sea front. there are not enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel and people que from 7.30 to be let into the pool area to grab a bed - the staff do not police the sun beds and people leave their towels on there and disappear for hours.
the entertainment is awful - practically non existant or rubbish when they do have someone, they have bingo and quizes - boring.
the food is very good - an excellent choice. we were all inclusive but beware as if you want food outside in the bar area you have to pay (although you get discount).
the drinks included in your all inclusive are good, however don't bother with the cocktails as there terrible. The coke is also awful as are all the mixers.
the main problem with this hotel is the staff, particuarly the bar staff who are verging on rude and ignorant - we think its because of it being all inclusive they don't get a tip. There were only one or two staff who were pleasant. We would not return to this hotel and a number of people who we spoke to felt the same.
The dining room staff were also miserable and ignorant, some days it took us quiet a while to find a clean table - you ended up wandering round and none of the staff were particularly helpful in helping you find a table.
we would not recommend this hotel.
