Yes there was a sickness bug going around the hotel but i blame the holidaymakers rather than the staff! The bug was being passed around by hand contact i.e people not washing their hands. The staff are excellent and the hotel is doing everything it can to stop the bug from spreading.
We had an excellent time at this hotel (me my mum and my daughter) it was a last minute booking just to get some sun but holiday exceeded my expectations. Notice that some people moan about the hill and if you have walking difficulties then yes avoid this hotel but hill is not as bad as everyone makes out. Brilliant location within walking distance of palma nova and magaluf, three beaches and plenty of bars/restaurants and shops. If you have young kids they will love it. Thompson family reps work so hard (nutty Natalie in particular) and my daughter can't wait to go back. All in all had a great time.

Avoid this hotel at all costs we thought we had got a last minute bargain!! We arrived at the hotel and on first impressions everything seemed OK. When we went down to the the dining room we noticed a dispenser on the wall containing antibacterial handgel. Thought this very strange, guests were not allowed to touch the food and had to be served by the hotel staff (supposed to be buffet service!!) There was not a thing we could eat, the food looked extremely unappetising I wouldn't even try it!
The following day we questioned the rep about the handgel, to be told that there had been a touchbug in the hotel. This was very annoying as we feel Thomson should of informed all guests of this to minimise the risk of infection. Fortunately we did not get the bug, but maybe if we had of eaten there and used the pool it may of been a different story. We spent the entire holiday eating out which left a big dent in the budget!
Thomson have given this hotel a 4T it is more like a 2T, the rooms are extremely basic and in need of a refurbishment. The children's pool area was also sealed off for a day, we travelled with an 8 month old baby and would not risk going in the pool. It was basically a bed for the night!
The hotel is up a steep hill but we did not find this a problem, there are far better hotels in the centre of Palma Nova.

I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Marina Torrenova.
The staff, family and kids club are brilliant.
However there was a Mysterious sickness bug which was rapidly making its way through the guests. A total of nine of us went and five of us had it. We were told it was going round the island but all other people we met along the way through different hotels had not been ill???????????????
What i found most disturbing as the new arrivals booked in Thomson reps did mnetion the bug, but claimed no one in the Marrina Torrenova had had it???????????
I will give the hotel their due, they did put of anti=bacterial hand wash which you had to use going into the resturant and when leaving it. The staff would serve you the food wearing rubber gloves, however this still did not stop us getting the bug.
The hills which were mentioned were totally underestimated....one hill is almost vertical its that steep! so trying to push a buggy up the hill was one massive workout!!
Excellent beachs and good location from Magaluf strip. Would go back purely for the kids club and beachs but would go self catering!!

I have just returned from the Marina Torrenova after a weeks stay with my parents, sister and young daughter(19months). I have been to this hotel twice before and we loved it both times but this time I wasn't so sure. We were all happy to get away as this is an annual thing for the family at this time of year and as it was my sisters 30th it was a special time. There was a sickness bug making its way around the hotel and it isn't fun for anyone who got it. Out of the 5 of us 4 came down with it so out of our 7 nights stay we only managed out 3 nights together becasue of it. Apparently the hotel knew about it before we got there but only put precautions in place (i.e alcohol hand wash, people serving you instead of a buffet) half way through the holiday which was a waste of time as half the hotel already had it.
Dont get me wrong my daughter loved it and we had a good time but I dont think I will rush back to this hotel.
If you are elderly then please dont book this hotel as it is not a "Slight Hill" it is a steep hill and the only way up for you would be to pay 3 Euro in a taxi everytime you went out.

We have just got back from the worst holiday ever. Was not told when we booked how far this hotel was from the beach up a very steep hill, but decided we would make the most of it and get taxis. But did not account for the serious 'mysterious bug'which hit half of the hotel guests. I spent 2 days in bed, and the other remainding days running between the toilet and beach. The hotel staff were great,if you have kids this is for you,as its one giant creche from morn till night.no adult entertainment. no 'quiet' lounge to sit and relax in.kids always running around screaming. (parents at bar.)The food was tastleless, the cold food was warm and the hot food was tough and warm.
There was plenty to do in the resort though.and buses @ taxis were cheap.

Hi ,me my wife and 4yr old daughter have been to Marina Torrenova 4 times, weve been on many package holidays whether its lorret, salou, costa del sol ,etc and you know ime not kidding Marina Torrenova is absolutely fantastic, its the first time ive gone away and basically not been able to complain about anything, staff very pleasant, hotel clean and pretty, Food very tasty lots variety, some people reviewing this hotel complain about the bank you walk up getting to the hotel, how sad they are, listen the whole of the resort is flat straight walking, so you have to walk up a bank to the hotel woohoo big deal your on holiday not sick leave, these people who complain about this and that are so sad, just glad i wasnt on holiday with them, the thompson kids club is awsome they are totally responsibly and really look after your little ones, my little emma enjoys her holiday there so much, believe me you wont regret anything about this hotel, ive never wrote reviews about hotels but this one deserves good feedback,it is now may o9 and we have booked up with Marina Torrenova again we go in two weeks, cant wait lovely lovely lovely hotel.

**** WARNING **** If you are going to this hotel you will need to take medicine as there is a severe sickness and diahorrea bug going around. Loads of people are losing 24 hours of their holidays and there were about 18 different people that I knew of while we were there. Thomson are saying the bug is all over the Island but we didnt speak to anyone else in any other hotel who saw people coming down with it!!!
ALSO Be please be aware this hotel may only be 250mtrs to the sea but you would have to be mountaineer to think its an easy route. ITS A MASSIVE HILL AND THOMSON ARE AWARE THAT THEY NEED TO PUT THIS IN THEIR LITERATURE.
we booked to go there for a week and ended up staying 3 days trust me and give this one a miss. Also with the exchange the place is so expensive to eat out burger and chips 6.50 euros thats a hell of a lot when theres 4 of you.

it was our 6th time here.the hotel is very clean and rooms cleaned every day.maids very friendly, reception staff very helpful and will always sort any thing out (jose).the food has a very good selection on the breakfast and the evening .kids club very good for all ages and you can relax 2 hours aday while your child is in club.evening club also good but could do with starting earlier for the little ones.the reps are very good greg, lisa.and monkey boy.BIG FISH DANCE was brill. the location is very nice apart from the very long hill but it works the food off.walking into palma is a nice walk plenty of shops and restaurants and a lovely clean beach.only 20 minutes from airport so you havent got long on coach.Overall the holiday is great and we are going may 2009 thats how much we enjoy it. try Katies bar on the seafront brilliant food and all english staff.also food good quality and value.

Having read some of the previous reviews, i was a little apprehensive. however, once i was there i was glad to be! I came with my boyfriend (both 20) his mum and dad and brother (17) for 2 weeks in sept.
Rooms 8/10.......................... The rooms were basic, but fine for me and my boyfriend. The beds were really comfortable and i've never slept so well! we had a nice view of the pool and could watch the entertainment on the balcony if we wanted. This might not be seen as a plus for young families as it could be loud in the evenings. rooms with sea views were available (however we didnt know this when we booked) and had amazing views over Palma nova. The fridges in the rooms were an added bonus and the aircon was really nice to come back to after a hard days sunbathing! the hairdryer in the bathroom was also good, however it made the bathroom unbareably hot so i was glad i took my own.
pool 6/10.............................. Through no fault of the hotel (as the trees dont belong to them) there are big trees over the main pool meaning it went into shade early in the day. The pool was always a nice temperature and the lifeguard is there pretty much all day. No inflatables are allowed in the pool, which is annoying when u wanna sunbathe on your lilo! The childrens pool was on a lower level and is in the sun all day, this pool is really shallow so children are alot safer than in the main pool which gets deep straight away. As a result sun beds go fast here, so you will need to be up early to reserve them. The pool bar near the children pool is resonably priced, around 4 euros for a chicken and bacon baguette with crisps or 2.50 for curly fries (will prob feed 2 or 3). Drinks are pretty pricey, around 2 or 3 euros for a coke or 2 euros for a small water. we bought the water here once then refilled it using our big bottle we had in our room.
food (my view) 5/10 (my boyfriends view) 9/10........................ I feel that i have to be fair on this review so i'm not going to pick too many faults with the food as my very fussy boyfriend loved it! I personally prefer self catering as i like to go out in the evenings and have a larger choice of what i can eat, also i wasnt very well for a large duration of the holiday which affected by appetite (I would like to stress that this was not due to the food!) The breakfast really was truly fantastic with a full english on offer, as well as various fruits in juices, fresh fruit, meats, cakes, yogurts, biscuits and breads (im sure i've missed something) fruit juices and hot drinks were available with breakfast but not the evening meal. The evening meal also had lots to offer with a carvery every night. There was a large supply of salads and cold meats everyday and lots of fresh bread (which i think was from breakfast as my boyfriend commented that it was alittle dry) The meals usually consisted of meat stews, roast meats, spag bol, pastas, jacket potatoes, chips or wedges, chicken (sometimes red so be careful) curries and veg. I could keep going but don't want to bore, however i personally like to know the kind of food available before i book! There was also a childrens section, which had a limited amount of food, but most children ate from the main buffet too. Watch the childrens fingers tho, as i saw one child burn herself on the tongs. A nice waiter came straight over checked her fingers then helped her with her food which i thought was really good.
Entertainment 8/10............................................... The entertainment team (mainly greg and lisa) were really lively, starting at about 8.30 in the morning, and still going at 11 at night with only 1 day off a week! Entertainment usually started just before lunch, with a general knowledge quiz everyday. Daytime entertainment usually consisted of aqua aerobics (not really aqua aerobics, but another chance for the entertainment team to dance to 'big fish' and 'cartoon heros') 5 a side football, water basketball, boules, reps v guests (lots of little activities against the reps) basketball and some kind of rounders game. I can't comment on the kids clubs as we didn't travel with any children. But from what i could see, the rooms they were held in were nice and bright and they held different themed activities everyday. Nightly entertainment usually consisted of live dance shows, comedians, reptiles shows, magic shows and rep nights (pretty poor, but at least they tried!) I feel i should comment on the other reps aswell, because some people have said that they were unhelpful and were only interested in selling you excursions. our experience with them was positive; mark was really friendly and chatty talking to me, my boyfriend and his brother about various clubs in magaluf. As was the freestyle rep nicola who recommended places to go. clare was also really friendly, stopping us to ask when we were going out and chatting to us in a club when she saw us.
Location 7/10............................... Although the hotel is in a perfect location between palma nova and magaluf I have only given it a 7 because of the hills! The hill into palma nova is a slight incline as stated in the broshure, but the hill into magaluf is a plain nightmare (even worse i could imagine with a pushchair or wheelchair) after 2 days my calves were actually hurting. we did manage to find an easier way of getting into magaluf tho. If you come out of the reception and turn left as if you are going to Palma nova then turn right towards the beach you can follow the road round and it will take you into magaluf. As a result of the hills and the many steps onto magaluf beach, i would not recommend the area to people with walking difficulties. Palma nova itself is a nice family resort with plenty of shops and restaurants and unlike its neighbour is not roudy at night. During the day the beach offers lots of watersports such as jet skis (60 euros for half hour), parasailing and pedaloes. From previous reviews of magaluf i was a little worried (even tho im only 20!) but at night the strip is buzzing with people who are all out to have a good time, i didnt see a single fight and only saw 1 person be sick in 2 weeks! i wouldn't recommend it at night to young children tho, its too loud and boisterous. magaluf beach is also really nice, but the sea gets deep quick and the current is a bit stronger, so wouldnt recommend for young children.
Overall, i really enjoyed my stay here and i was really sad to come home to rainy england! i would definately recommend this hotel to other people especially families.
N.B: This happened to my boyfriends parents and brother so i feel i should mention it for other people. In the broshure it says that suites are available with interconnecting rooms. This is what they booked to allow each other some privacy. However, when we got there they were placed in a room with 4 beds that hardly had a wall, let alone seperate rooms. When they enquired at reception they were told that due to a fault with thomson they were selling the rooms under false pretences. when in the shop we booked a suite for a family of 4, if we had booked a suite for a family of 5 they would have had seperate rooms. just thought i'd warn you that if you want privacy, even if there are only 3 of you, you're going to have to pay supplements to get the extra side room and a suite for a family of 5, not 4!

Let me get the good points out of the way for this hotel.
1. Accomodation was adequate - no more than you would expect from a 3 star hotel.
2. The hotel was spotless and was being continually cleaned 24/7 - although this may have had something to do with the 'bug' which was circulating.
3. The reception and bar staff were excellent - very friendly and professional.
4. Couldn't fault the maids either - very hard working.
Now the real sticking point for us.
The Restaurant - if you can call it that.
The evening meal was rubbish although the breakfast was very good .
The real bug bear however was the service - IT WAS ABSOLUTELY APPALLING !!!!!!!
On at least 4 nights out of 7 there were no spoons to eat the soup - on 2 occasions when I asked for a spoon the guy shrugged his shoulders and completely ignored me !
One night I asked 4 different members of staff for a spoon and still didn't get one !
On our last night my soup was 'rescued' by Matt (Thomson rep) getting me a spoon - is it
Matt's job to double as a waiter ?
The 'chefs' serving the food were totally uninterested in doing their job .
Most of my food ended up either on the floor or once down my shirt as they slapped it on the plate. Not once either were we asked if we wanted a drink with our meal.
The 'chefs' were more interested in conducting a private conversation than serving - not very clever when there are 50 hungry Brits waiting to be fed.
Also noticed that a lot of the crockery had chips in them - I don't know much about catering but isn't this supposed to be a source for bacteria ??
Agree with all the reviews about the hill - Sir Edmund Hilary would have struggled to get up it !!
