The Royal Haciendas Resort

We stayed here the first week of October. Very large timeshare resort. We had one of the rooms that was oceanfront facing the Carribean. The room was very nice.Great bathroom and very clean. The hotel grounds are also very clean and the staff was helpful and friendly. The pools are great with a large swim up bar. The restuarant on site is nice as it faces the ocean. My wife and I just returned from our honeymoon in Playa del Carmen. We spent 6 days at The Royal Haciendas (I traded a week of timeshare) and our last day at the all-inclusive resort The Royal Playa del Carmen. At the Royal Haciendas, we had a 2 bdrm villa with an oceanview, a tub on the balcony, full kitchen, living rm and seperate lockout suite. If you have an opportunity to stay at The Royal Haciendas--do so. The resort is beautiful, accomodations are extremely comfortable and the food is incredible. Take a taxi or rental car to Playa del Carman at NIGHT. It is a great experience!

Booked a week at the Royal Haciendas through a last minute Interval exchange. Our expectations were high based on the high ratings of all of the "Royal" family of resorts. Phase 1 of the resort (which is shaped like a full horseshoe) is entirely complete. Phase 2 is being built right next to it but you would never know it as the shape of phase 1 completely isolates it from the construction. My wife and I just returned from The Royal Haciendas. We had a 2 bedroom unit and invited another couple to utilize the other room. Let me begin with how much we really enjoyed this resort. We are in our mid 20's and have traveled to several other resorts in Mexico. First off, this resort was far enough away from Cancun that it wasn't to busy and crowded. We spent a week at the Royal Haciendas from 06/30/07 to 07/07/07. The resort just completed its 2nd phase on 06/30. When we arrived at the resort, our personal concierge greeted us (this is very typical of the Royal Resorts' service) and showed us around the resort after check-in. We just returned from the Royal Haciendas in Playa Del Carmen, wow what a beautiful resort and the staff was great. Even though the second phase was not quite finished the construcion was not a problem. We have been members with the Royals for 18 years and we have never missed a year during those 18 years. Our photo albums are full of all the wonderful times we have had during those years. The new resort is a 10 for my wife and I.

We were scammed by a person trolling the beach at our hotel (iberostar maya... excellent I might add!) and asked to view Royal Haciendas. We were told we'd get tickets to Maroma Beach Snorkeling Cruise. We were told that it was another resort that we might opt for if not at Maya next time. We found out it was a "timeshare" (or whatever they are called there) but wanted to see it anyways as we've been interested in property in Mexico. This hotel is a big disappointment and whatever you do don't let them talk you into the timeshare tour for $$ - they will take up your whole vacation!

The newest and best of the Royal Resorts... high end accomodations, and the location is exceptional. You are 5 to 10 minutes from Playa del Carmen, which in my mind is a better, shopping area than the re-vamped Cancun. It's just completed phase # 1, on a nice stretch of beach, where you can walk, sun worship and snorkle right out in front. Snorkling here is safe, and close for the kids, and is FREE, with the activities centres equipment. Kayaks are on site. Walkers will love the expansive beaches and going left or right... more
