The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real

Had a great relaxing vacation at the Paradisus Reserve Punta Cana. We had a very comfortable 1 bedroom Master Suite at the Reserve and everything was perfect. Everyone we dealt with i.e. wait staff, bartenders, housekeeping etc. were extremelt friendly and always very helpful. Once we got our bearings, we opted to walk to most "destinations" i.e. the beach, the Lobby, various restaurants etc. vs taking the "trolly". The check in is ok, they take a while to check you in, and then you have to go to your concierge, which we did not see for quite a while, you must make ALL of your dinner reservations when you get there, if not you will have 9:45 and nothing else. You also need to make your snorkling reservations as soon as you get there too or you will miss out. The Gabi Club is not very good for service or food quality. We stayed at the Reserve for March break. Thisplace is stunning, the photos don't lie, the food is like eating at a 5 star restaurant down town Toronto (where I live). Unbelievable. Swim up rooms, premium alcohol, VERY family friendly. Quiet. Not the party place that typical springbreakers go to. Perfect beach, all water sports are included, go scuba diving everyday (with certification). I will go back as soon as I can. Everywhere you look is beauty. We booked the Reserve because of its small size, all suites concept. Also because of the kids pool. Read so many positive reviews. Wasn't my first choice, Dreams Punta cana was. Well much to my disappointment, we arrived on March 29, 2010 and were told when we were trying to check in, that we made reservations with Palma Real and NOT the Reserve. We stayed in the reserve because of the newer rooms and décor. I do recommend staying there as well because of the extra restaurant choices, quieter pools (if wanted), internet access right there & beach area (not sure if they even check). That being said, my shower pitched to the right so all the water sat to the right and didn’t drain but housekeeping was on top of it and dried every day so we didn’t care. I have traveled to just about every Caribbean island and stayed at many different resorts. This ranks among the best. I am not sure what more you could have asked for? The resort experience, service, and accomodations were all top notch. The pools, beach, and grounds were wonderful. I never had to worry about anything. I will definately return.

My wife, a friend and I have booked the presidential suite at The Reserve for a one week stay on february 14th of this year. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT! This is definately not a 5 star resort as they so cliam. At least not from my perspective. Would a 5 star resort take up to one hour for guest to register? Would a 5 star resort take almost 2 hours for room service to deliver a meal to your room? Have travelled to many very nice hotels and had trepidations about an "all inclusive". The rooms at the Reserve were magnificent. From the moment we arrived, all the the staff wanted to do was to make our trip pleasant. The Reserve is very quiet and peaceful and there are plenty of chairs around the pool. We are beach lovers so we arranged to have chairs set up on the beach for us each day. If you stay on the Reserve side there is a short walk to the beach straight down a beautiful road. very unfriendly staff for the price paid, everything revolves around hooking up people to their vacation club, which by the way is not at all worth it. You expect to find dominican hospitality here, but its actually run by a very negative mexican staff. it is also located far away from the beach and you have to wait long for the shuttle. it seems the Hotel is very understaffed.

Wanted to add this here as they now have The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real listed as a seperate entity. My fiance and I traveled to the Paradisus Palma Real from Aug. 8 - 15 for 7 glorious nights.
