Gran Melia Victoria

We got back from Palma three days ago after spending a week at the Gran Melia Victoria. It didn't fail to impress... The staff are very friendly and efficient. The room we had (room 516) was large, very well appointed (the electronic curtains are novel) and luxurious. I particualrly liked the way the room had its own lobby (so you couldn't hear the lifts or corridor outside at all) and that the marble bathroom was split into two with sliding frosted glass doors. A really great experience. The bedrooms are very good well maintained and serviced as I would expect from Gran Melia hotels. The varying restaurants give ample choice of menu. You are expected to dress formally in one of them but the other two are happy with smart casual. No need for tie in that heat!! The staff were excellent for lthe attention to detail and the breakfast buffet was well subsidised with any request for english breakfast as an example. What a fabulous hotel! Mac & Lily took a romantic break there in June 2006 and despite the unusually dull weather, had an absolutely fantastic time. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the upgraded room we were given was one of the largest I have every stayed in. Our complimentary bottle of sherry and cookies went down a treat, and our cute balcony a great place to contemplate life and what it has to offer! We stayed at the Gran Melia Victoria for 3 nights over the Easter Weekend, the hotel is very "Grand" and "oldie worldy", majority of clientelle 55yrs+. The hotel is great if you are looking for a totally relaxing atmosphere, the service of all staff was impeccable, as you would expect from a 5 star property. The hotel is in need of some cosmetic surgery, some carpets worn and bedroom furnishing outdated. We stayed in this very grand hotel in February the hotel was very very quiet so much so we thought we were the only ones staying there until breakfast we a few other guests appeared. The rooms were very nice we chose a high floor because we had been warned there could be noise from the disco below, the disco went on till 4am. We had a lovely stay only one thing spoilt it and that was the outside pool was closed and roped off so there was now where to sit and relax when on the first day we arrived the temperature reached 75 degrees!!! be... more

Just returned from a 4 day break in Palma. This hotel was outstanding from start to finish. Staff were brilliant could not do enough for you. Reception and porters were very keen to help. Room was large with balcony overlooking port and cathedral - outstanding views. We took a high floor room - 5th floor overlooking port and were not disappointed. We are very picky about which hotels we stay in but this one ticked all boxes. Did not eat in restaurant in hotel other than for breakfast (which again was superb) as seemed needed... more

A great hotel in which the staff cannot do enough for you - great location and excellent facilities

We stayed for 2 noghts at the Melia Victoria and were overall very happy. We paid for a sea view room and pre requested a room on a high floor, and sure enough this was honoured. Although we couldn't check in when we arrived at 11am, this was not a problem - Palma is a great city and a walk into ntown and back easily took us through lunch. My wife and i stayed in this hotel last week, and we have only superlatives to say about this place. It's conveniently located, nice helpful staff and the rooms and beds are big. The bed was very confortable. The curtains are automatic and you can operate it using the console. The toilet and bath was also big, with a separate tub from the shower area. We were fortunate enough to get a room with seaview on the 6th floor (which is the top floor) and the views were spectacular. We could have stayed here all week. Unfortunately we have to go... more

We have just returned from a 3 night trip to the Gran Melia, Palma. Over all the hotel is lovely, great location etc, but we felt it was well over due for refurbishment. The staff were lovely and they did everything they could to make our stay as pleasent as possible. It was the actual building that wasn't up to scratch. The hotel smelt damp and on arrival to our room the bathroom/toilet area smelt of urine. The pool area was nice but again needed a good tidy up. Over all we had a lovely time but i would not class this hotel as a 5 *... more
