The Old Phuket

The hotel was very nice and perfect for what we wanted - a relaxing holiday by the beach! The room was comfortable and nicely decorated. The bathroom was a bit dark but came with everything you need inc the usual toiletries. We had a spa deluxe room so had a jacuzzi on our balcony which was great but we didn't really use it enough to warrant paying the extra. My wife and I had read many reviews through the site and took the above average rating on the the Old Phuket as a winner. We booked through the hotel direct and had great comfort in there responses via email contact and boy did the room live upto expectation. Stayed in the hotel at the end of November & beginning of December 2006. We chose Karon Beach over Patong as we were after something a little quieter and with less of the 'loud' tourist type, and got it exactly right. The hotel was really quiet, with big rooms and relatively new bathrooms. Had no problems with hot water, breakfast, electricity, air-con or any other services with the exception of the TV which kept breaking down while they were waiting for a replacement part. I read the reviews of this hotel and thought it'll be a safe choice. It was a good choice. WHen we arrived, we were greeted by the very warm staff at the hotel. We managed to get a very early check-in (10am instead of 3pm), probably cos it was off-peak season and the hotel was pretty quiet. Room was clean and i liked the decor. This was our second stay here in as many years and, once again, we were more than satisfied with this property. My wife and I always split our month or so in Phuket among different resorts according to quality and budget, subsidizing the higher end property with a moderate and/or budget choice. My boyfriend & I were in Phuket recently. We stayed at the quieter & less popular beach, Karon. The island was great, worlds away from where we came from. Totally refreshing. Beaches & surrounding islands were gorgeous. Water was crystal clear, you can see fishes swimming right at the edge of the shore. People were friendly & always smiling. Me and my husband had a great time at our anniversary stay at the Old Phuket Hotel. We had a deluxe room(thru their packages on their website) and staff welcomes you with the warmest of smile, trying to make you most comfortable they possibly can, the breakfast is good enough, the decor of the hotel is nicely done, the location is just across the road to Karon beach, the rooftop swimming pool is fantastic. It was great!!

Alhtough I spent most of my time out of town from early morning till mid evenings, I was really looking forward to coming back to my comfortable clean room with excellent airconditioning. I had a Double Room with Terrace.. my shower was outside through double doors from the en-suite bathroom. Definitely quite pleasant having your good fast running shower outside in the steaming tropical heat and then step back into your spacious bathroom with its own deep bath. I had emailed the hotel previously to confirm booking and let them know it was my partners birthday and asked them to make sure that the room was nice for him. They had replied to say that they had a nice surprise for him, so I was looking forward to getting there! Spent Christmas and New Year at the old Phuket Hotel. Looks like one of the older hotels on Karon Beach, though the facilities were adequate. Restuarant at the hotel was a little basic, though they have a beachfront restuarant too which is nice. The area and the hotel itself seems to be favoured by Scandanavians, and there were lots of Scandanavian restuarants around which was a bit different.
