Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino

We stayed at this hotel on the night before our Dec 13 cruise and on the night following our cruise on Dec 20. We initially booked a Club Floor Room as we recognised that there are no restaurants around the area and this would facilitate our travel. We were a little disappointed to find out that this floor is not yet ready but were offered a regular room but at a regular rate. My boyfriend and I arrived at the hotel at Saturday December 6th around 12:30 pm. We only planned to stay one night as we were leaving on a cruise Sunday afternoon. We could not check in early (which was fine - check in is at 3:00) however the front desk advised it would not be too long and that we could kill some time at the restuarant and casino. Pro: new hotel Con: new staff that's clueless, also understaffed. (always a long line at the front desk). Pro: infinity pool overlooking the bay Con: closes at 6PM (earlier than most other PR hotel pools, some of which never close) Pro: near the convention center Con: not near anything else (beach, Old San Juan, etc) Pro: room service Con: not much else to eat. only 1 restaurant in hotel which has average food at above-average prices. no other restaurants in the vicinity

The hotel is nice but some what isolated from everything. Walking around the area was like walking in a ghost town, we where the only ones around. The hotel is nice, but very evident that they have just opened and are still working on some areas. There is a construction site right next to the hotel and the staff seems to be working out the pending issues. The casino is very nice and very big with live music and a bar surrounded by big LCD TV. Stayed for one night. Liked the lobby, the casino was superior, the bar is ok. The 40 inch LCDs in the room are great, but cables all over and visible behind the table. The bed sheets are lackluster, very uncomfortable. There is only one restaurant open and the menu is very limited (around 5 or 6 entrees). The service was below par, room service forgot items, the pool bar had no coke or pepsi available, the pool waiter took over 1 hour to bring a small order of snacks.

Stayed at San Juan Sheraton Convention Center Hotel and Casino in early Dec. Beautiful new hotel with nice pool deck. Unfortunately, I awoke to construction in the morning (which is not fun during vacation). The employees are friendly but new and still getting adjusted. There was a line of people trying to get checked into the hotel and they were having trouble with each guest. Arrived at 5:30PM and was told my room wasn't ready yet. The location is okay. It's ok I guess. I was expecting something nicer for a Sheraton and for the price...the fan in our bathroom was broken and the entire room felt very humid.. they have a nice view though, and a small but cute swimmingpool. I would stay again depending on the price.

The Sheraton had just opened during my visit. Overall, great hotel experience. The rooms were very nice and clean, comfy bed too! The front desk staff was always helpful and always willing to assist with whatever they could. The guest service attendents were amazing. Any one of them were all very helpful. Very personable and made you feel very welcome at the hotel. They did an excellent job!!! They even recommended amazing restaurants and great beaches and were very helpful with directions. This is the only hotel I have witnessed in San Juan where the front line staff is all at attention when you arrive. Each member you meet, greets you warmly, points you in the right direction and also is thoughtful and polite to aide to your comfort. I look forward to their influence raising the service level of all of their competition... or it will leave them all in the rearview mirror.

As one of the first guests here, I was warmly received by a large staff of recently trained staff, who were anxious to provide me with service. I had just moved on opening day here from the Sheraton Old San Juan because that property was over priced and dirty. I booked this hotel through Hotels.Com, non refundable for $139 per night, lower than offered with booking directly with starwood.
