Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

I was worried at first about coming here as this was a new resort and I've been reading various forums on tripadvisor about there being delayed openings, not accepting guests and whatnot but once my friend and I actually got there, we were relieved to find that it was indeed open and they were accepting new check ins. I don’t usually write such long-winded reviews, but given that this resort is new I know a lot of people are looking for as much information as possible in order to make an informed choice about where to spend their holidays. Overall we loved our stay and will go back in a heartbeat. We spent 3 full days there and wish we had had more time. This is the nicest resort we've ever stayed at. Here's a breakdown of our visit. Although the hotel just opened, we were very impressed by the service that was given to each and every guest. All the employees were there to make each moment of your stay enjoyable. The layout/architecture of the resort is very soothing. Many pools and fountains flow throughout the grounds in a swirling pattern. Which is part of their insignia. It's a nice resort but was not ready for the period we booked for in August. It will probably be a decent enough resort on a great beach within a couple of months (at least). Meanwhile, their handling of our reservation was appalling. We were notified we couldn't check into the hotel we booked for while we were on the car heading to the resort. They diverted us to Secrets Capri, into a room that was being charged 1/3 of what we had paid for our Maroma servervation (fully in advance as per Secrets reservation policy).... more

Well this was our honeymoon and we had a great time. Aside from the slight inconvenience of having to stay at Sliver Sands two nights. We arrived on Saturday August 9 the day after our wedding and I had been following the forum so we knew that we would be at Silver Sands for two nights. My Husband and I stayed at both Secrets Silver Sands and Secrets Maroma Beach starting on Sunday, August 10th. We stayed at Silversands a few nights and moved over to Maroma 1 day after it opened because the hotel was not ready. The Secrets SilverSands club/retro feel does not have the tropical ambiance that we were looking for at Secrets Maroma Beach. We booked our honeymoon for the second week of August (12-19, 2008) through Apple Vacations. When the travel service dropped my husband and I off at Secrets Maroma, a worker sat us in chairs and handed us a paper. We looked at him and he made the statement, "read." To summarize the paper it stated due to construction you will not be staying here. They then walked us to the door where a car was packed and said you are going to Secret's Capri. We stayed at Secrets Maroma for our 2nd Anniversary in second week of August 2008. For our honeymoon we stayed at Secrets Capri. The service = 12/10 (yes, that good) The restaurants = 8/10 The rooms = 10/10 Resort Appearance = 8/10 The beach = 10/10 The good: AMAZING service. On August 8, I had an opportunity to preview the Maroma property before opening. Its going to be great! Here are some photos. As far as arriving there during their opening time, even though the resort may not be 100%, you would be 100% wrong if you did not go. Having just spent a week at Silversands during their first week, the Secrets staff provided service beyond compare to minimize any problems. We were fully cared for, as I'm sure you will be at Maroma. We hope to be there soon.
