Riad Assakina

Stayed here with my fiancee over valentines weekend and had an absolutely fantastic time. Michelle and Grant are so friendly and helpful, I really couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Riad Assakina was a lovely oasis of calm in the middle of the mayhem of Marrakech. We were greeted on arrival with mint tea and walnut-stuffed dates then given a map of several places of interest to visit including museums, gardens, palaces, restaurants and a local roof-top bar! Our stay in Marrakech was one of the best short breaks we have ever had - largely due to the surroundings of Riad Assakina and the effort that Grant and Michelle made to make sure we had a good time. 3 days was too short - we will definitely return.

Michelle and Grant run an astonishingly elegant riad in the midst of the medina of Marrakech. The rooms are beautiful, comfortable and reflect refined elegance. The terraces are stunning as are the views across to the Atlas Mountains. The courtyard with its splash pool harks back to the era of the Sultan reclining with his wives on comfy divans. We have just returned from a four night stay at Riad Assakina for our honeymoon. Couldn't have imagined a more relaxing, luxurious and friendly place to stay and we had a fantastic time, despite the miserable weather. As others have already mentioned, the service and attention to detail is excellent and the breakfasts were great and really set us up for a day exploring the souks. My wife and I arrived from Ireland after an early start and were both a little tired.We were given a wonderful welcome by owners Grant and Michelle and invited to relax with them and tell them our priorities for the holiday ,over a nice glass of refreshing mint tea and some gorgeous dates served by the lovely efficient Noelle.Michelle gave us maps and all of the information as we needed it daily over the week we stayed. Following recommendations from friends, we chose to stay at Riad Assakina for this short trip. We were not disappointed! The Riad is run by Michele and her lovely partner, Grant. Nothing is too much trouble for them - we arrived with a shopping list of specific items we wanted to buy and commission (a pierced metal lamp). Michele again took us to her trusted suppliers and helped us negotiate prices and deadlines so that everything went smoothly. Just returned from a 4 night stay at Riad Assakina. Situated 10 mins walk frm the main square, this cosy riad ticks all the boxes for an exotic city break. The owners Grant and Michele are extremenly welcoming and knowledgeable. Their tips for shopping in the souks, visiting the right hamman, dining out in local restaurants and bars as well recommending day trips out of the city are invaluable. As many people have already mentioned this is truly a beautiful Riad, with very friendly and highly attentive staff to boot (Mohammed warrants special mention - he was always particularly kind and eager to please). Combined with its very reasonable pricing I would not hesitate in recomending this Riad to anyone. However I should mention a few very minor negatives: 1. This is the first time we have felt compelled to write a review on trip advisor. We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Riad Assakina and cannot praise it enough. The service, standards, attention to detail and friendliness of the owners Grant and Michelle and staff far surpassed our experiences of many a 5 star hotel.
