We have been to the Tropico 4 times...
10 / 10
Dec 2006, Miss S Gaskell

We have been to the Tropico 4 times now since May 2002 with myself, partner, mum and 2 kids age 5 and 11 months and every time its gets better! Both the entertainment and hotel staff are great, the location is great and the pool is lovely, the apartments are basic but clean and well kept. It's a great place to go with the family and there is always something going on.
The bar staff are really good natured and often got up on stage with the entertainers to join in the dances, the hotel put on a lot of acts which are mostly really good and there is a lady that brings in her parrots for a show for the young ones which is great fun!! out and about is great as well and the food in the area can be really good, we had most meals at the Europe cafe which is a few doors down from the Tropico, the food is excellent and the staff can't do enough for you! They also have an excellent laundry service and the reception staff are really friendly and helpful.
It's mostly a really nice, friendly place to go and we are just about to book again for next year with our new addition! I would recommend the Tropico to anyone with kids as you will have a great time!

Had an absolutely brilliant time....

Nov 2006, Miss Y Welsh

Had an absolutely brilliant time. Weather was hot and sunny every day.
The hotel had great daytime and evening entertainment for the kids and the pool was spectacular...but cold.
Tom Browns a definite for meals. We went in to Palma town but it was boring and not much to do. Palma nova was lovely though.
We shopped around for the day trips but we begrudged paying the prices they wanted for the Pirates show. Western water park was a great day out but I found Marine Land boring and over in an hour.
Our age group ranged from age 7 to 66 and we all enjoyed our holiday, we would definitely go again,

Oct 2006, Mrs B Christopher

Just spent a week there with my sister. Both mature ladies. We were allocated on arrival basis. OK, we couldn’t choose, but Thomsons could have thought first about putting two mature ladies among all young families. Noise all day and night. Shouting and screaming from late night revelers. Ok, I know it was their holiday too. I just think Thomsons could have put more thought into allocations.
The pool area was dominated by over boisterous young people. We couldn’t use the computers too, as they were taken over by youngsters too. Don’t think I am against young ones, I had 4 of my own. I just feel we could have been put somewhere in keeping with our age etc. I have traveled with Thomsons on several occasions, and find they do a good job as a rule. Maybe this was just a slip-up.
The hotel/apartments were very basic, clean but not comfortable by any means. We went to a nearby coffee shop to sit in a comfortable seat.
The resort was good, plenty of 'eateries'. We recommend Tom Browns, as good food, plenty of it, and very reasonably priced. You get a discount card which you can use in the three cafes they own or in a fancy goods shop.

Just got back from Magaluf after...
2 / 10
Oct 2006, Mr G Perkins

Just got back from Magaluf after staying in the Fiesta Tropico. Tom Browns is a excellent place to eat I would definitely recommend it also, Benny Hills is a great place to go, arcade etc for the kids and pleasant staff and the Chinese Buffet next door but one, food is great 2.
The hotels entertainment is ok but can be kind of boring all done by the reps/entertainers only had about 2 lots of people that where brought in from where ever. Music going on until about 12ish (pm) it didn’t really bother us but could get loud especially if you’re above it luckily we were opposite.
Also we had a pushchair and a wheelchair holders with us and could not get to our block (block 5) for all the sun beds. People blocking the foot path all the way from the pool told the rep etc and they didn’t do anything and we put a complaint and suggestion in the box. Palma Nova is a much more pleasant place with a nice beach and a nice atmosphere. Went to Fantasia Golf in Palma Nova has a great time kids loved it. The best view for the balcony is a pool on. We got one facing the back of the pool bar with trees in front of us 2.
A few people got up early for a sun bed but I wouldn’t say loads of people did you could still get them at 9-10am easily.
Would I go back - Nope. Not my type of holiday especially not Magaluf, Palma Nova? Maybe. We went from the end of September to October. Weather? Well it rained once while we were there and when we were at the airport to go home.

Fiesta Tropica was my first holiday...
10 / 10
Oct 2006, Miss S Brooks

Fiesta Tropica was my first holiday away with my boyfriend and his family and I would very much recommend staying there! There was plenty for us all to do, weather it was just me and my boyfriend being 18, or with his mum and younger brother.
We were not far from the Magaluf strip but you could not hear it from our hotel, we visited the strip once or twice for a drink but mainly spent our evenings in a great bar next to the hotel called Benny Hills!! It had an arcade aimed at all ages and a bar with a TV playing you’ve been framed for the kids all night!
Hotel reps were fantastic as they ranged activities for both children and adults, my boyfriend played football at every opportunity and met loads of people our age!
My only downside to the holiday was the fact that Spain thinks we are crazy over football and every other bar we went to had football playing on TV! But hey it was nothing major!
Plenty of lovely places to eat, including the happy house (there are two) Whose staff were very friendly and made us very welcome that we ended up eating there the majority of evenings.
The four of us had great fun having crazy golf competitions at tom browns across the road and would recommend a game for 2 euros!
Palma was just a 5 minute bus journey away and very worth the journey! Such a lovely place to visit!
Over all I would recommend the Fiesta Tropica resort to families with all ages! Much Enjoyed! (Traveled with Thompson’s, very good).

What a fantastic holiday! Our party...

Oct 2006, Miss J.L Malin

What a fantastic holiday! Our party was 5 adults and 3 children all enjoyed Magaluf very much. Something for everyone, the apartments were so close to all you need for a great time.
The apartments were very basic but the pool more than made up for it. The staff very friendly and all our party can’t wait to go back again. Soon. Check out Benny Hill’s and Manos who all made a fuss of our children to there delight.
Free cocktails for kids in Manos which they loved, they were kept happy so we could enjoy it too. Also great entertainment every night. Try it it’s simply the best!

Well what can I say about Fiesta...

Sep 2006, Mr AY Yates

Well what can I say about Fiesta Tropica is after finally getting there at 6.30am in the morning and just wanting to go to sleep it didn’t happen because it was full of drunk yobs shouting and swearing and running down the landing, I did complain next day about the noise to the rep and she said it would be sorted out, but it was not, so I had a week with hardly any sleep. they never changed the sheets while we was there, the towels smelt like they had been washed in fish n chips and salt and vinegar witch made me gip, the room was over looking the street witch was very noisy, the beds were hard as rock when I did get some sleep I’d wake up with a bad back.
The resort in general has gone down hill its very dirty, if you want to do some shopping you will find once you have been in one shop you’ve been in them all because every shop sells the same merchandise.
Night time can be very scary when going for a drink because it is full of drunks in gangs on stag nights or just holiday makers just getting off there heads or 18- 30 clubs.
Ask me if I would go to Fiesta Tropica or Majorca again, that’s a BIG no no never

Sep 2006, Mrs L Shelley

I have just returned from a 14 day stay at the Tropico with my 8yr old daughter and can only say that it was fantastic. The bar/waiting on staff were fabulous and could not have made us any more welcome.
Entertainment staff could not have been better, my daughter did not want to leave. Great value for money, everything you could want within minutes. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for a great family package holiday. I will definitely be planning another trip as soon as I can.

The apartment I stayed in, in Fiesta...

Aug 2006, Miss A Millis

The apartment I stayed in, in Fiesta Tropico was very basic as all of them are and when I arrived initially the fan in the bedroom didn't work. I complained once and it was looked at although there didn't seem to be a change, but when I asked the second time, I was surprised to find that they had put a brand new one in that worked really well!
Unfortunately our balcony out looked onto the backs of restaurants, pubs and a bottle bank. At night, I could hear plates clattering and bottles being smashed for hours on end, as they all seemed to be open until the early hours, but once I got used to this and the noise of people singing, I actually slept quite well.
It is true that the sheets on the beds were only changed once a week, which wasn't too pleasant, but when I asked about this I was told it was because Thomson weren't prepared to pay for the sheets to be changed more often, so it wasn't down to the hotel.
It is also true that you had to get up at around half 7 to get a sun bed which were usually not even used during the day but people without a sun bed couldn't take them because there were towels laid on them. The sun beds only started to be left at around 3 or 4 in the afternoon.
I did not find the pool dirty as it was cleaned constantly, however a lot of people came down with ear infections during their stay which was apparently put down to the many chemicals put in the pool to clean it.
All in all, I enjoyed the holiday as everyone was friendly, the beach was lovely, and although there weren't many proper Spanish restaurants, there were some really nice places to eat, plus it was boiling!

Aug 2006, Ms T Angell

I wasn't keen on the idea of going to Magaluf, but we got a last minute deal and took a chance as the reviews seemed good!
Disappointed with the accommodation. Small, shabby. No air con, sheets only changed once a week, plus smelt of cigarette smoke. If you want to get a lounger by the pool be prepared to sit by the pool from 7.30 onwards, until they are unlocked at 9.00. People pile all their towels on them and reserve them. When they have taken all the loungers they then disappear! We couldn't be bothered and went to the beach, which was really nice.
The Thomas rep said it was a problem but didn't do anything. Magaluf wasn't as rowdy as I had imagined but we didn't go out late. All burger king and McDonalds, not very much Spanish food which was a shame. Weather was fantastic! And had a good time but wouldn't go back.

Aug 2006, Ms S Hidson

Fantastic holiday for myself and two teenagers, back for a fourth time, lovely clean room with a pool view, very friendly staff and perfect location.
Excellent news that the bar/reception area is now non-smoking. I could recommend the Plaza Cafe for the best live singing in Magaluf at night. Perfect beach around the corner with Tom Browns and a BBQ restaurant.
Beach bars with free entertainment, boat trips, Water parks up the road, everything you could possibly want. We enjoyed every minute of this two week holiday and wanted to stay there longer. We will definitely back next year for a fifth time.

Despite what the brochure description...
1 / 10
Jul 2006, Miss J Draper

Despite what the brochure description says, do not visit this hotel if you are hoping for a relaxed family break. The hotel has recently lost its 'Superfamily' status and despite still claiming to be only suitable for families, it would be the last place I would want to return with children as is sandwiched between two 18-30 hotels meaning that we did not sleep for our entire 11 night stay due to the noise, shouting, swearing, throwing glass bottles of the balconies, etc, etc every night until approx 7am.
The pool is nice but dirty and the entire complex very shabby and a bit dated. The apartments are very basic and rather unclean (bedding only changed once a week) and a big issue was the lack of air conditioning as the weather is unbelievably humid both day and night.
The hotel staff were pleasant and sympathetic, although nothing was done to also stop people entering the complex at night time to shout, swear and run around/ swim in the pool naked. Not really, what I wanted my 10 year old daughter to experience.
Although we made friends with several families, I did not speak to one person who was happy and not going to complain about the hotel. Every time you walked past reception there was at least two people complaining and the Thompson reps were particularly unhelpful. Other people had problems with no cooking utensils, dirty bed linen, lack of towel changes and fans not working.
The entertainment provided by the Fiesta team was OK and they were all very friendly. However, the kids club by Thomson, was very poor, my 10 year old could only go for an hour a few times a week and as it was so uninviting and nothing very good was on offer, none of the children that age appeared to go at all.
The resort itself has a very busy, but nice beach, but apart from a selection of nice restaurants (Happy House on the beach), there really was nothing to do. I also wouldn't recommend going out with children after about 10.30 as the streets are filled with drunk teenagers and it gets very frightening when they are in large gangs.
I have been to many other resorts abroad and always had enjoyable and relaxing breaks. Although I had always been keen to visit Majorca, I really would not recommend this resort or hotel to anybody. I feel cheated that my hard earned money which I had saved up all year for a great holiday has been wasted on what I would describe as a rather traumatic, stressful and exhausting experience!
