We had a fantastic 2 weeks holiday June last year at this hotel.
We were allocated on arrival to Magalluf and I thought it was going to be really rowdy and full of noisy young people partying, but when we were allocated to the fiesta Tropico it was very relieving, the Thomson reps were second to none they were very helpful in all aspects. The apartments were spacious and clean quite basic but everything that was needed for the week, comfy beds and we had a balcony with table and chairs, the restaurant in the hotel sold food, but just enough for snacks.
The Thomson reps entertained the kids around the pool at different intervals during the day, and the atmosphere of the hotel is really friendly, its definitely recommended if you want a nice family hotel somewhere the kids will enjoy, there was no rules as such for the kids in the pool everybody was enjoying themselves in the pool especially the adults!! Playing waterfights with the kids water guns. Definitely recommended for a holiday with the kids and Thomson reps are the best! We will definitely be going back again.
Don't watse your time trying find somewhere good to eat, as we did, did not find the Cottage till the 4th day and we never went any place else after. Breakie for under 3 euros and the dinners are huge and british!!!

Stayed here in June 08 with 3 other adults and my 8 yr old son. Booked two rooms, Rooms basic and son not pleased because of lack of TV but he soon got over that as there was lots to do. Rooms cleaned every other day by the friendly maids, Towels changed often too. Hotel entertainment was really good in the evening. Pool side entertainment good too. Pool side quizes and so on. Pool FANTASTIC. Massive probably the past on the island. We emailed the hotel ahead of us arriving and asked for a pool view room which we got. I watched the pool being cleaned EVERY morning at 7.30 from my room which I was chuffed to bits knowing my son could play in a clean pool.
Signs saying you are NOT allowed to reserve sun beds but it still happens. If you cant beat them join them but do be ready early about 7 am onwards to bag a bed.
Hotel bar called red lion was ok food ok but not a decent selection. I would reconmend brekie at the moon just outside and to the left of the hotel. Good places to eat was the cottage (owners from same city (Notts) as us which was nice) Woodys is brill for food too as is tom browns on the beach.
Hotel bar in the eveing good for kids, Mini disco then kids bingo and quiz night every night. Also Benny hills is brill for kids and cocktails for us adults are a must.
Hotel bar staff couldnt do enough for us spesh my son they loved him.
Western water park is amazing. If you get chance to do it...Go. As is the sea life center in palma. Loved it. House of katmandu is ok too but I wouldnt take little kids say under age of 6 or 7 there as its a tad freaky.
Beach lovely and clean and very close by. Buses runnnig often into palma. If you want culture then palma is a must for little tapas bars. Very classy place.
To be honest was dreading going because of the reviews but loved it. And going back in oct 09. Not much rowdy behaviour, Most of the brits seemed well behaved.
All I will say is watch out for stray cats......I told son to stear clear of them but I went to pet one and it went for me! LOL TAKE CARE!

Fed up with the weather at home we booked a last minute deal for a week in the Tropico. The weather was defo warmer than home and during the day only needed t-shirts but long sleeves at night. We were really impressed with the hotel, clean, nice bedding and the rooms were cleaned every other day. Thomsons reps are great and our 2 kids really enjoyed themselves.. always in pool. The only probs we had were finding somewhere good to eat. We ried all the beach ones but there food was either cold or really small portions( after tom browns we went to MacDonalds!!). It wasn't until our 3rd day we found the best place to eat in Magaluf(was not going to risk trying any others to get cold food etc..) was The Cottage. We must have walked past it on our first day but just missed it. From the hotel , at the bottom of the first road, turn right and its next to the chemist. The small breakfast is enough and only for 2 euro`s something with all English stuff. Well the meals.... the roast beef and pork dinner was so big I just wanted to lie down!!! And it was HOT!!! we had to blow on it to cool it down.. just like my dinners!! Every meal and snack we had was fantastic. The staff are great and really go out their way to make you feel welcome and give the best advise going. Wè'booked again for 2009 (2 weeks this time) and cannot wait. If you read this and go to the Cottage please say Jane sent you ( Big Jane and little hubby) and that we are back in 2009!

My husband little boy and nyself have been to the Fiesta tropico 4 times and we love it, there was loads for our little boy of seven to do. We had no trouble with the sun loungers the dtaff are very helpfull and remeber you from the previous year we requested the same room as the year before and this was kept for us, the entertainment staff are fab they put on some really great shows. Magaluf itself has loads to do for families we have been taking our little boy every year since he was born
I would recommed these apartments they are basic but clean and ideally located
- Advice: Expect groups of youngsters in high season
- Activities: Tom Browns in fab value for money

Hotel Fiesta Tropico was our base for a weeks holiday in Majorca. The pool was fab and we didnt have any problems with sun loungers during our stay (end of season) We were a party of 9 - 6 adults, 2 children and a baby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but agree with others here that the rooms were not cleaned enough and fresh towels should be provided daily. I would personally not stay here when the weather is really hot as there was no air con and the ceiling fans are incredibly noisy. The pool was enormous and the kids loved it but price of poolside drinks for a family can soon mount up. Initially we used the Spar shop opposite for our provisions but one day we told about the BIP supermarket which was about half the price and also so close to the hotel (although not immediately visable as its just down the side of the Spar and thro the residential flats). My partner was delighted to find that the local San Miguel lagers were 50c for a 500ml can! After a few days of typical holiday resort rubbish food I found the rep very helpful when i enquired about quality restaurants in the area. We found El-Salmon great but our undoubted favourite was Godfathers, amazing food cooked to superb standards. It was no mean feat to impress the 2 chefs with us as they are of AA rosette and mitchelin guide standard but yep, we truly loved it there!

Have just returned from a week at the fiesta tropico ,we emailed the hotel ahead to request two rooms with pool view and recieved them,we were very dissapointed with the cleaners we arrived on the saturday and they came on monday and that was it ,no clean sheets,or towels and if you want extra towels you have to pay for them. The complex is in need of refurbishing, the beds were awful very lumpy, the stairways stunk of urine,if you want to cook bit akward as theres only 2 rings no oven or grill just a 2 slice toaster .The hotel is in an ideal place in magaluf away from all the noise,we found benny hills a nice family pub,we tried the cottage, but found that the waitress in the eveings to be very ignorant no hellos it was as if she didnt care if anyone ate there or not, found tom browns excellent also the happy house. Chinese just by the tropico was awful the chicken curry sauce was more like water.Sadly for us the weather was awful only had 2 days of sun we went 20/9 till 27/9,we went to katmundo dont buy your tickets there as they are cheaper off any of the the little places that sell trips. There are hundreds of bars and restaurants and loads of shops. The walk in to palma nova was nice i think if we went again we would stay in palma nova it was much nicer

We are going back here next september, as the kids have decided this is where they would like to go. We (thankfully) only stayed here for 4 days as we spent 5 days in another hotel in Arenal and just came down for the entertainment of Magaluf. But by the end of the first day there we were gutted and wanted to go home.
The hotel apartments are small if you are going as a family, they are rarely cleaned/towel changed (once during our stay) and they have no air con and slow ceiling fans that do nothing. It was like a melting pot by the end of the day and absolutely unbearable to sleep in. Had we not been traveling with children we would have left the balcony doors open but that and given the nature of the resort and the fact that a woman had her handbag stolen from by her feet in the clubroom, we chose to sweat it out - nights became a dread! To top it off the cot we were given was almost falling apart - i'd advise u to check the fittings before putting ur baby in as we needed to tighten them all up. the double bed is made up of a sofa bed that is made of slats as thin as cardboard and my husband (avg size/weight) fell through them at 3 in the morning when he was asleep.
The corridors/stairs on the blocks are dirty and look like a council block and the 1 tiny lift per block is slow and just gets a small buggy in.
The hotel itself was generally badly maintained and in desperate need of refurb in the club room. The pool itself was nice, clean and spacious but the sunbed situation was bad - not enough 4 the no, of guests yet no space for anymore as they were cramped and all over the place as it was. There were no parasols at all which i thought was bad at a family hotel - we had to buy one to shade our baby. - the Thomson reps also police the sunbeds every morning putting letters not reserve them with towels and moving peoples stuff off them and threats to do so over the tanoy - a great start to the day!
The hotel, whilst advertised as a family hotel it seemed to be more families with teenage children and some of the guests (adults included) made it seem like 'chav city', The entertainment was tacky but bearable but that didn't bother us as we went out most of the time. The music is loud until midnight which didn't bother us but might have if we were in the opposite block directly above the clubhouse.
The food in the red lion was nice and reasonable but there are so many places to eat in Magaluf u will have plenty of choice. Magaluf was very busy, lots of youngsters as expected but the beach was lovely. There is plenty of shops, bars and restaurants but nothing really for young families.Tom Browns was very close and the food good and reasonable prices. We also tried the Cottage as it was recommended on a review but it turned out to be disappointing, but was so cheap i suppose it was a case of getting what you paid for. - Which to be honest, sum up this hotel.
And by the way, don't bother asking the reception for
anything - they are lazy, useless and try to con you! We asked to extend our room cause our flight was late and were given a leaflet for a middle man holiday shop. We asked for them to call us a cab and they insisted there was no answer but arranged a very expensive transfer instead!
My advice is, if you are a family with young children, don't book here and maybe try out Palma Nova, El Arenal or the 'Continental Park Superfamily hotel in Alcudia -it was great! If you have already booked - take a fan!
Also, take the Thomson's own rating and reviews with a pinch of salt - i submitted a review on there too which conveniently was not put on?! Ad their score is very optimistic when compared to impartial sites like this!

Just returned from the fiesta tropico after haveing 10 nights there, I must say that i read some reviews on various sites after i had booked and was quite worried as they wasnt very good at all, So thats the reson why i am doing a reveiw myself !! My Holiday was FANTASTIC, and i would go again, we had 2 apartments faceing the pool, the rooms were basic but nice, cleaned evey 2 days with clean sheets and towels, The entertainment at the bar every night was great for the kids and adults, The pool was fantastic and cleaned every day, and lit up at night, I loved sitting on the balcony at night, we ate mostly at the moon bar its the first one as you go out of the hotel, the food was really nice and very resonable in price, the service a bit slow when busy, tom browns had nice food but a bit more exspensive, but the food at jokers wasnt so good. the beach was great and hired pedle boats and went on a cruise which was great except my daughter got stung by a jellyfish when we stopped to swim in the sea. kids zone was great my youngest daughter loved it, they perfomed a disney play one night in the bar that theyed rehursed. brilliant!! didnt have much to do with the reps (no reason too) did our own day outs ourselves as there much cheaper, went to palma nova great there and katmandu great for kids, and then the waterpark. loads to do day or night. But i will say that if your looking for a quiet early night holiday this is NOT the place to go. the Tropico is alively outgoing place, the bar shuts at 12 so there's music untill then. didnt have a problem with the sun loungers always went to pool late afternoon to cool down as it was really hot, but did see the reps taking the towels off those that wernt been used ha ha ha, Hireing a iron or fan was very exspensive so pack a travel iron !! We had a fantastic holiday and carnt complain about anything.

i went away with a friend just for a relax. when we arrived we heard about all the clubs and thought that we were not going to be able to relax as much as we had wanted but that was soooo wrong. we explained to the reps after their introduction session and they were happy to leave us to relax. we had a fantastic holiday because the staff at the hotel were so accomodating. the reps were great because even though we weren't going out with them every night they were still asking us each day how we were and wether we were enjoying our holiday. one rep especially as we couldn't keep our eyes off him.
the local town was fantastic and we loved the beach. the food was a great hit as we were eating out alot of the time.
Tom Browns especially, discount cards are a very could thing when you have to eat.
had a fanastic holiday and would love to go back there sometime in the near future.
maybe party a bit more. BCM watch out. :-) xx
