Holiday Inn - Do you even know this hotel carries your name?
---- WARNING: VERY LONG! ----- Where to begin? I am a female school teacher who desperately needed a vacation before school started back and so I decided to book a "thrifty" vacation to the Bahamas by myself. I got what I thought to be an incredible deal through Travelocity with airfare and hotel included (2 days prior to departure) from Syracuse, NY -> Nassau for $523. I had read the mixed reviews and after having spent 4 nights in this hotel, I really can not see how people can possibly write ONLY positive comments about this... more
It's not as bad as everyone else said!
My husband & I stayed here for our anniversary from July 29-Aug 5,2004. I was scared after reading those horrible reviews. I didnt know what to expect. But good news. Its not that bad! Our room had a private balcony overlooking the harbor. There were no ants in the rooms, and I didnt see a single jellyfish. Our room was clean everyday and the AC worked very well. It did seem different than the pictures showed, but overall it wasnt a bad hotel. You are on a busy street that you have to cross to get to the water. People love to use their horns... more
Not what you'd expect
This will be a lengthy one but you need to know what you're getting into! I just returned from a 5 night stay and the hotel itself was not bad at all. There we no problems with water, bedding, towels, bugs, etc. As the previous review states, the room keys had to be reactivated almost every day. The beach across from the hotel seems to be a hot spot for the locals. It was pretty rocky but the water was gorgeous. Please keep in mind that you are traveling to another country. When I thougt of the "Bahamas," I thought of tropical beauty.... more
You Get What You Pay For, Man!
The Holiday Inn Nassau was a very good value. Granted it is not the Atlantis, nor the British Colonial, but then again you get what you pay for. Upon check-in, we were given a room on the third floor, which was clean, but lacked a balcony. We kindly asked for another room with a balcony and we were "happily" accommodated to such a room on the fourth floor! No problem, Man! The view from the room was just breathtaking and having stayed at the British Colonial twice in the past, I would venture to say the view at the Holiday Inn... more
Don't go here
Some of these great reviews - I think some people are getting this hotel confused with the Sunspree, or mabye it just used to be way better than it was when I went (JULY 2004). We [3 people] only stayed here for one night and it was pretty bad. The room smelled of mold and mildew, the carpets were dirty (I told my friends not to walk barefoot on it). Front door was hard to close and elevators take FOREVER, plus they're hot and stuffy!!!!!! Only 2 towels and very hard to get replacements. The shower had low water pressure, i'd be... more
run away bravely (or cowardly) but just run away
To make this quick, bring your own bug spray you will need it. They really do not need a roof it, the sun would help to kill the mold and smell that permeates this hovel. I remember a great sign at a biker bar in pa where I use to live. Dirty rooms, lousy food, cold beer, but at least they told the truth. This place should have the same sign and then maybe it could be appreciated more. My wife and her girlfriend are the ones who went there not me but since this would not be posted with the use of profanity she was not able to write this... more
Hotel for the Extreme Pennypincher or Last Minute Traveler
My boyfriend and I decided to attend his Frat Brother's wedding at the last minute. Definitely our fault. We found a good package deal for under $500 that included hotel and airfare. Unfortunately we had to say at the Holiday Inn. I read the reviews and understood the possibility that I may not have the best experience. But in the back of my mind, I keep thinking a bunch of snotty brats were writing in. I was wrong, the reviews are pretty accurate. But u get what u pay for. And you can't expect to enjoy US standards in foregin places... more
Ok for a Budget
I was leary of the mixed reviews but decided to take my chances with the Holiday Inn Junkanoo. We stayed 2 nights and moved to the Wyndam Resort. Though our room was clean and the location of the Hotel was great for quick access to downtown Nassau, here's the deal! The only clean spots in this hotel are the main lobby area and some rooms. The hotel has different sections/towers that's why there's mixed reviews. If you're lucky enough to get the clean section, you'll be satisfied but let me assure you, the dirty section was filthy! Hallway... more
Great vacation!!
As I read the reviews about the Holiday Inn I have to laugh. I too had reservations at the Holiday Inn Junkanoo and cancelled them because of the terrible reviews i read. well, we booked at the Sheraton and at the last minute sold there property and shut down. So, I had to eat "crow" and call the Holiday Inn back and re-book my reservation. There is no place in this world that you can get a great deal like the one at Holiday Inn Junkanoo. our room was great. Our view was so fabulous we took several pictures from our balcony. the pools... more
OK for those on a budget.....
The Holiday Inn @ Junkanoo Beach is OK.. If your on a budget and want to get away to the bahamas, this hotel is fine, if you have standards set a little higher, youll hate the hotel. The hotel is decent and clean. Rooms are accommodating and comfortable with working air conditioning and clean bathrooms. The Views from the rooms are great, high speed Internet access is available in rooms for $10/day. The hotel has 2 pools, 2 convenient stores, a restaurant, and a bar. It is located less than a mile from the downtown bay area of... more
