Moevenpick Resort and Spa Karon Beach Phuket

My wife and I spent two weeks at the Moevenpick Phuket. We found this resort to be well laid out with great gardens and swimming pools. Unfortunately the service is not up to scratch for a hotel of this level. Typical instances of poor service included: - Waiting for cutlery and tea to be provided at breakfast after asking staff several times. - Meal orders being incorrectly taken down. - Rooms not being made until late in the day. - Rooms being turned down at strange hours of the night (9:00pm) We stayed in a plunge... more

I was in Phuket during the past week, it's a beautiful island and great people around. We spent 10 days @ Moevenpick Hotel in Karon, as we understand this is a new managed Hotel. The property is fantastic. One of the very bad feeling is our breakfast, lunch and dinner. The coffee served @ the breakfast and a' la carte it one of the most orrible coffee experience I had in the past years. They told me the coffee is locally roasted brand. After reading the reviews about this hotel on tripadvisor.com, we booked ourselves in. We travelled with our children, aged 4 and 5. We had the most fantastic time. The resort was an Oasis, the staff so friendly, the pool and slide were great, the kids club was absolutely excellent, even when our children weren't booked into the kids club, when the kids club staff were at the pool with other children, they also included ours in the pool games. We have booked the hotel through its own website. We stayed in the Garden Villa room with outdoor shower. The price is very right for what we get, comparing to other hotels. The room is nicely designed with nice decoration and is very clean. We are very impressed with hospitality. Even though our room is a little too far from the entrance, the staff is always available to drive you back and forth with either goft cart or Tuk Tuk. The breakfast is grand! This is a lovely hotel. The staff are very friendly and always try to accommodate your needs. It was my husband's birthday and they made a birthday cake and sent it up to our room. The rooms are spacious and clean. The main pools is lovely although a little noisy, but if you head to one of the other pools you will find it more peaceful. We booked this resort after extensive research and can highly recommend it, we stayed in a double room with sea view, the room was very comfortable, modern, with good facilities, it was always kept spotlessly clean. We recently went on our Honeymoon to Movenpick in Karon Beach. We had visited Thailand a number of times previously and had always be impressed with the high level of service - Boy were we disappointed this time. We stayed at the Movenpick for 10 nights and found it to be the most beautiful resort with great facilities, very attentive staff and great food (especially breakfast)! Our children aged 3 & 18mths loved the kids club and the staff there were wonderful. Nothing in this resort is overlooked. The Movenpick was located on karon beach which we felt to be more private and secluded than the hustle of Patong as you are not continually surrounded by people as you step outside the grounds of the hotel. The surroundings and grounds of the hotel are magnificent and very conducive to a relaxing and romantic getaway. Family's are catered for also but when we were there we found it was mainly couples. We stayed in this resort for three nights. After having travelled for three weeks already this hotel was a wonderful place to relax and to recover. We have been there before main season, so not a lot of guests have been there yet. As you would expect of a five star complex the rooms are spacious and well arranged. There are one big and two smaller pools and nice gardens around them. Maybe it gets a little bit crowed around the pools, if the hotel is fully booked.
