Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya

We stayed at the MO in February. Most of the reviews posted are accurate. The property is nice but very difficult to get from point A to point B. There is a concrete walkway that runs along the entire property. Wherever you go you will be on this walkway. Our room was in the middle (Laguna) - beach a good 10 minutes - spa a real good 10 minutes. You can request a golf cart but this took forever. We returned last night from the Mandarin Oriental. We flew from Los Angeles and the rest of our family flew in from NYC. We had six adults and 4 kids with us ages 1 yr, 3, 5 & 7. The beauty of the hotel is stunning. The architecture is amazing and building materials truly gorgeous. The plants and landscaping are some of the best I have seen, with artistic sculptural "patios" between the rooms. We visted this hotel 1st - 6th Feb and actually arrived on the day it opened (although we didn't know this as we thought it opened 15th jan). Our overall impression is lovely, luxury, high quality but a little pricy. We had a laguna room with an open tub. The rooms was amazing, fantastic bedroom which opened onto a patio bordering the cenote (no nasty bugs or smells), huge bathroom with double rain shower, a lobby with walk in wardrobe (massive) and an otdoor private areas with a hammock and bath.
