Excellent
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Little Arches hotel. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the staff were incredibly helpful, and Cafe Luna was delicious (though, you should be warned, it's pretty expensive). We loved the beach across the street--it was never too crowded and the waves were the perfect size for body surfing. We'd go back in a heartbeat!
Little Arches: Absolutely fantastic in every way....
You'll find no better quality on Barbados. Book this place early or you'll miss out. Little Arches is owned by a great husband and wife team who fully understand and appreciate their customer. They also own two great restaurants in the St. Lawrence Gap area (Cafe Sol & McBride's). The rooftop hotel restaurant (Cafe Luna) is first-class all the way. We stayed in Suite #10, a beautiful garden view with a fridge, kitchenette, a nice deck out back, and easy pool access. ALL the rooms are equally nice. That said, what I want to... more
Absolutely Wonderful!
We had a wonderful time at Little Arches! It really MADE the vacation. The owners and staff could not be any nicer! The hotel is quaint and charming and very relaxing. It was intimate enough that we got to meet a number of the guests and make some new friends. The beach across the street was very quiet and beautiful. The food was spectacular at Cafe Luna. I don't have anything negative to say about Little Arches. We would definitely return!
Loved Cafe Luna!!!
Just came back from a week in Barbados last night. Our best dining experience was at Cafe Luna! Started with a delicious lobster salad - so sweet and such large bits of lobster! Next were grilled scallops and mahi-mahi in a thai coconut curry sauce. Amazing!!! So stuffed that we split a dessert of bananas in phyllo pastry with triple sec and chocolate sauce. Service was intimate and impeccable! The restaurant is on the rooftop - pretty, and oh so romantic. We sat gazing at the stars and listening to the sounds of the ocean. The waiter even... more
Very private and intimate
We found Little Arches to be a lovely break away from the big resorts that are all over Barbados. We have stayed at several other hotels there but have yet to enjoy a stay as intimate and freindly as we experienced at Little Arches. Each room is different in layout (we had a little tour by the very friendly and accommodating GM Vere) and I see that as a huge bonus. Who wants to stay in a hotel room that is exactly like the one next door? I see this as such a positive thing that I was very surprised to see it expressed as a negative in a... more
Loved every bit of it
We loved everything about the hotel; the location, off the beaten path, near Oistins is excellent, because it is near a very pretty little beach with lovely sand and swimming, near Oistins, where the local vendors have SUPERB fresh, fresh fish, and where there's a great Friday night open air party, and because it's very easy to get transportation to go anywhere else you need to go to. I disagree with another reviewer about Bajan food; you can easily find grilled fish, and it is unbelieveable. And while Macaroni pie is ubiquitous, it's also... more
Below expectations...
Many of the complimentary comments are deserved: the friendly, helpful staff (esp Petra and Rose) and locals; the pool and sundeck layout; the roof restaurant; the views; the beach. But if you're going there, you should be aware that: 1. it's on the flight path and jets roar low over the hotel fairly often; 2. the rooms are of varying standard, but are priced the same (ie two of the $278 'Deluxe ocean view' rooms are dark and gloomy with only a restricted sea view; one of them is on 2 levels and the lower level is not really useable other... more
Fried Bananas!!!! mmmmmmmmm good
Having been quite confused about where to stay in Barbados, we booked the Little Arches, like others, on the basis of Tripadvisor's ratings, and we were not disappointed. We rented one of the Honeymoon suites because we learned that 8 of the ten rooms had only showers. The two honeymoon suites have private outdoor spas/whirpools along with lovely kitchens, including microwaves, stoves, full size refrigerator, etc. They also have private patios overlookiing the ocean, two lovely lounge chairs on a wooden deck, an umbrella and full size table... more
Wonderful
If you're looking to get away from everything, Little Arches is the place to stay. It is located away from the large pretentious hotels on the south side of the island. It is a small, boutique hotel with beautiful views, wonderful service and excellent food. Everything from start to finish was perfect. I highly recommend this place.
Highly Recommended
Recently returned from week-long vacation and was not at all disappointed - and we had high expectations. Ideal for those seeking the "anti-Sandals" experience - personalized, attentive service, quiet atmosphere, lovely architecture - felt at home here very quickly. Location is a bit off the beaten track, but we actually preferred it to the more touristy areas of the island - nearby beach is used more by locals than tourists, and everyone we met was friendly without being pushy. Front desk was very helpful in setting up any excursions we... more
