Le Grimaldi

...after 22 tortuous hours of non-stop travel ...the anticipation of the le grimaldi was beginning to weigh heavily...doing my best to repress the vision of jack lemmon and sandy dennis from the "out of towners"...we could not have been happier ....a fabulous small property in a quiet and i do mean quiet section of nice (the double glazed windows had a big impact)...we had a superior double at approx 200 euros/night (room 67 top flr)...staff was awesome..can't say enough about how helpful jason and gloria were...a great restaurant next... more

A very grown up hotel indeed ! Nice room, great location 5 minutes to the beach, cafes, and good fun shopping. I liked the private beach afilliation with umbrelllas, small board walks, and cushioned loungers . Very helpful hotel staff good customer service. Skip the continental breakfast, go to a local cafe instead

Great hotel and awesome staff and service. Everyone was so nice and accomodating. The room was modern, clean and bathroom was pretty. Good value for 100 euros per night (sept 2004). Our last day in Nice I got sick and needed a physician. The front desk person was SO HELPFUL. Within 5 minutes I had an appt with an english speaking physician and was on my way to the appt two blocks away. By the way --great service from the doctor and much more affordable than in the US. Compared with other French hotels I've stayed in, the Grimaldi offers wonderful accommodations for the price. I paid 90 Euros for a single (about $110). They don't have an in-house restaurant but they do serve breakfast for 15 Euros. They offered me a discount to 10 Euros if I would commit to breakfast every day of my stay. I declined and just had coffee instead and that was 4 Euros. Taxi from the airport was less than 20 Euros with tip. The room was very pleasant and the bathroom was the most spacious I have encountered in France.... more

Excellent hotel. stayed here in January 2004. service was great - everyone was VERY helpful. room was small, but hotel was convenient to everything. Well worth the price that we spent. Definitely plan on staying here again!

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this hotel. We had the mid-range 'classique' room, at 145 euro per night, which was perfectly serviceable but not in the least bit special. It was functional; small bathroom with good shower. Reasonable bed - twins pushed together. Paintwork looked a bit worn - past its prime. It was absolutely fine and serviceable if you were using it as a base and not spending any time in the room, but I expected more from this hotel from the reviews I'd read here. This was a great hotel. My husband and I had been traveling for a week in "affordable" hotels and found this to be, not only affordable, but clean, cute and very centrally located. I would without a doubt stay here in the future. The staff was friendly, helpful and the accomodations were fantastic!

The staff were incredibly friendly at Le Grimaldi, proving what a lot of people have said on this site. The location is close enough to the sea and main action and they also offered free Internet access. The only slight black mark was that one of the towels was stained, but we'd recommend staying here to anyone.

We found Le Grimaldi on Trip Advisor and were so taken with the reviews, booked a 5 night stay on our recent trip to the Riviera. We could not have made a better choice. The hotel was ideally situated, had wonderful accomadations, and the staff was unfailingly friendly and obliging. I have recommended it to everyone I've spoken to since returning. I can't wait to go back!

I booked this hotel for a week at the end of July- unfortunately, the day after I sent them my credit card details as requested, I had €3500 charged to my account. When I contacted La Grimaldi I got a quite unconvincing and unsatisfactory apology with the excuse that "it was a virus" on their side.. Had been looking forward to staying there after the reviews but felt I had no option but to cancel- a word of warning- book this hotel over the phone if possible..
