Kata Beach Resort and Spa

We have just spent 8 nights at the Kata Beach Resort and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. This was our first trip to Thailand and we were both very impressed with the excellent customer service we received everywhere we travelled. This hotel is in a beautiful location right on the beach which is clean and well maintained. The hotel staff make you feel very welcome and cannot do enough for you. We wanted to stay on Kata beach as it is less polluted and more secluded than Patong beach. We selected Kata Beach resort after reading the reviews and booked a deluxe room for 4 nights. Upon check in, we were greeted with complimentary drinks and fruit which was a lovely touch. The room was decent sized, and we had a nice view of the beach from our balcony I love the location of the hotel; just 10 steps to the beach from the pool. Have just completed by second visit to Kata Beach Resort and was happy to find nothing had changed since my first stay a year ago. This is still one of the best value/quality combos in Asia! Very nice rooms kept spotlessly clean and tidy by friendly housekeeping staff who visit several times a day to spruce things up. (The bathrooms are small but have all the amenities you'd expect from this style of property/venue.) after endless flights from USA & Europe, and about 1 hour bus ride from Phuket airport, finally arrived at Kata Beach resort...what a nice surprise next morning to have breakfast virtually on the beach! (good brekkie, too, nice variety of stuff to appeal to travellers from all over) 100 baht to rent deckchairs and umbrella on the lovely beach, and we were situated for the day....red flags out the whole time we were there, but as we were happy to go in about chest high, don't think we were putting our lives at risk. It is a nice, large and upscale resort directly on the beach. The location is very attractive, the rooms are nice, breakfast very good, the restaurants very good also. There is nothing to complain about, except maybe a slight feeling of being in a "tourist mill". The only surprise was that "deluxe" rooms seem to be not as attractive as "standard" rooms. They are slightly larger, but they have an odd L-shape that makes them dark, and the sea view from them is limited. On the other hand, standard rooms are bright and have a good sea view.... more

My partner and I stayed at the Kata Beach Resort in July 2006. I had stayed there on a previous trip to Phuket in 2001. The resort rooms have since been renovated. We had a deluxe room on the 4th floor with views over the pool toward the beach and ocean. the room was simply but tastefully decorated, very clean, airconditioned and with all the amenities you need including safe, tv, coffee & tea making facilities, mini bar and a king size bed. We stayed here for 6 days in the middle of July 06. After a 16 hour journey we made our way finally to the hotel, where we were greated to cold face towels and a freindly smile, this was the normal service throughout our stay here. We were treated to a fruit basket in our room with their compliments. Our room had a balcony over looking the sea and was very clean with a safe in also. The hotel was very resonably priced for its amenaties and its location! It is situated right on Kata beach, which is perfect its pure white sand and less crowded atmosphere than patong beach gives it a good relaxing feel. Hotel was good, i had a partial sea view balcony room, which was very nice, and spacous. Staff were very friendly, and always willing to chat to you while you wait for a taxi or tour bus, which are frequently late!

We stayed at Kata Beach Resort from 8-11 June 06 and booked 2 Ocean Deluxe Rooms. The rooms were very clean and spacious and had wonderful views of the sea. The bathroom was a bit small, with no separate shower stall, but was clean. Housekeeping was prompt and our requests for extra pillows and blankets were delivered within 10 minutes. I have recently just spent 10 days at the Kata Beach Resort in Phuket (end of May 06). I have no problems at all in recommending this Hotel to anybody. Kata beach is a great beach and is not as busy and chaotic as Patong Beach. It is only a short Tuk Tuk ride to Patong. There are plenty of places to eat just outside the Hotel with good cheap meals on offer. The buffet breakfast at the Hotel is fantastic.
