Karon Princess Hotel

I stayed here in November 2007 and really enjoyed my stay the room was spacious, clean and comfortable with great facilities. The hotel has a large pool at the back of the complex with many sun beds. It was not that busy when I was there so I had it to myself most days. The restaurant had a great menu serving dishes to cater for all tastes at reasonable prices and with being on the sea front was excellent for having a meal and watching the sun set in the evening. We booked this hotel through Travelbag travel agents. We were told it was a 3 star so we weren't expecting anything special. However, we couldn't have been more mistaken. Our room was at the back of the hotel, the view wasn't great, overlooking some construction work. That was forgiven though when looking at our room. Very, very spacious. We stayed in a deluxe partial ocean view room (4th floor) at the Karon Princess Hotel in early September 2007. I was told there were only 5 rooms in this category, which has a partial view of the Indian ocean (see pic) and very popular with guests. Even though it was low (monsoon) season, the hotel was more than half full and was popular with tour groups from Asia. Just returned from a 10 day stay at Karon Princess WE stayed in the Juniour suite which was really spacious. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The first night the bed seemed a little hard but the pillows were nice and soft and after a few days we didn't even notice. There was a television in both the bedroom and loungeroom there were quite a few channels and 2 good movie channels to watch. I am a travel agent and always looking for a bargain whcih is what initally attracted me to the Karon Princess. I stayed here with my partner and my mum in May 2006, I did manage to get the hotel for £9 per person per night so I wasnt expecting the ritz, most places in the world you cant even get a hostel for that! We were very pleased with the hotel and its location on Karon Beach. The recently renovated room had a partial ocean view which is better than we had expected for the room rate we paid. The hotel staff was very courteous and the complimentary breakfast buffet had many good things including made-to-order omelets. We liked the location because, even though we were within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants, this stretch of Karon was a little more quiet which is exactly what we wanted. We have booked this hotel from Phuket. We didn't know what it looked it or what kind of hotel it was. Most of the hotels were already booked on the island and this was our only option. Compared to other hotels that we stayed on in Phuket, this one had a decent breakfast: various fruits, eggs, bad-quality cheese, bread, lunch food like fried rice or noodles (don’t ask me why,) mashed potatoes every other day and mashed potatoes fried into the bolls every other day, French toast every other day, coffee and Lipton tea. I have just returned home after 10 wonderful days at Karon Beach, staying in the Karon Princess Hotel. There were 6 adults and 3 children in our group and all of us had a great time. The hotel was conviently situated an easy 500metre walk from Karon town where there is a pick of restaurants and bars if required and plenty of tailors should you require a suit!. Or walk the opposite direction for about a kilometre and Kata Beach and all its restaurants and shops are at your disposal. Everyone seemed happy and pleasant to talk to.<br... more

Hotel is located right at the beach. Too long way to the bars and most restaurants. Had to go there by expensive tuktuk. Day before check out, they promised me a late check out at 4pm without extra charge. Next day it was changed to 2pm and 500 bht extra charge. After a long negotiation I got to stay at 4pm. Not very good feelings about this "money away from farang" hassling. I don't recommend this hotel for anyone.

Room/Balcony & Bathroom were dirty/dusty. Water from the tap (bathroom) was yellowish in colour. Shower curtain was dirty & filled with algae & fungus. You won't want to soak in the tub looking at them. All furnitures were dusty and dirty. The hotel surrounding was not well kept. Dead plants & dust can be seen everywhere.
