Hotel Sole

I think this hotel is definately getting mixed up with another Hotel Sole on Lake Garda as this on at Via Monte Baldo 7 is excellent. We had read the reviews and totally agree with Well_travelled028 as we could not fault it. We were very lucky as we did not know where we were going until two days before and having read the reviews nearly thought about cancelling. We are realy glad we did'nt. I too thought we were satying in another hotel sole!!!! we had a free bottle of local plonk on the table each evening meal, nice surprise. No views at this hotel, however how long do you spend watching a view? No tea/coffee making facilities something we count as important. Reception staff oblivious to residents! waiting staff very good no complaints about food. Bathrooms only had showers.Clean rooms ac brilliant.

Promised a four star hotel in fact it was no better than a bed and breakfast. Very basic room that similar to a travel lodge. Food very little choice and was of quality similar to that of a canteen. Meals were rushed. The sun terrace accesible via a fire door which had a tendancy to slam shut leaving you stuck on sun terrace. Overall it was a very disappointing week. Outside bedroom was kitchen extractor that was noisy and smelly

It's a shame that there are so many Hotel Sole's in the Lake Garda area and obviously they are getting mixed up. Our hotel was spotless, great welcome from the staff (arrived at 1.15 a.m.). Throughout our stay the staff were friendly and very helpful - they appreciated our "efforts" to speak Italian as did the local shopkeepers. Food was more than adequate and the vegetarian member of our group had no problems. The breakfast buffet bar had a great variety of food and the toaster machine was an experience not to be missed ! I went with my mother for a week in June 2007 and we had a very pleasant stay. Our room was a good size and pleasantly air-conditioned 24 hours a day. As the temperatures were in the mid 30s all week this was an essential( so many hotels around Lake Garda have no air-con and it would have been unbearable for us with this heat). This hotel is very central with a small underpass to get to the shops and promenade. You could quite easily cross the road though if steps are a problem. I must write in defence of the Hotel Sole at Via Monte Baldo 7 in Garda on Lake Garda. I think some of the previous reviews must be for the Hotel Sole somewhere else on Lake Garda which is very confusing (I think there is one in Limone). I know this for a fact because none of the rooms in the Hotel Sole in GARDA, Lake Garda have lake views because the hotel is set back from the main road in a residential area and only has views of other buildings! My wife and i really enjoyed our week in the Sole. Everyone seemed to be pulling to-gether for the benefit of the residents.Rooms were cleaned well on a daily basis and the food was good for a three star hotel.All in all,a pleasant place to stay. Bill & Rachel Fulton.

We booked a last minute "allocation on arrival" , Garda & Austria break with Newmarket Holidays. Our experiences at the Hotel Sole were all positive, although we were only here for 3 nights. We stayed in room 123 which was air-conditioned & overlooks the Lake & the Windsurfing Club. If you are a windsurfer or kitesurfer, this would be heaven for you, as there is a tunnel from the hotel under the road directly to the club & the pebbley beach of the Lake. This was the last Hotel on our Cosmos tour of the Italian Lakes. I am amazed at how the star ratings are arrived at in Italy. All of the Hotels used were three stars but there was a wide variation between all of them. The Hotel Sole at Lake Garda seemed acceptable on arrival. Basic hotel (stated as 3 stars) with beautiful views over the lake. Very clean. Very friendly staff with a slightly eccentric manager. Food good but basic, you won't get fat on it. Bus stop outside, if the driver has run out of tickets you can get to Verona for nothing. Very pleasant. Very relaxing
