This was our first time to Cyprus. Weather and food fantastic as with the watersports and water park.
Unfortunately the hotel was not as great - we had a studio which was a good size but as previous comments not as clean as it could have been. The first week we seemed to have the room/towels and beds changed every other day but the second week we were having to ask to have clean towels and beds changed. There was a problem with ants but what do you expect just bought a spray and they seemed to go - just remember and not to leave any food/empty cans of juice lying about.
We had a ground floor room that over looked the beach - lovely - the only problem was it was really dark and there was no lightening which brings me to the security which was NIL. In the evening there was only the receptionist. One evening just before we were coming home there was two German boys who had drunk all day and thought that it would be a good idea to throw the kids in the pool. Everything kick off and the police had to be called this was not a pleasant experience. There were several rooms also broken into and the hotel took no responsibilty for this.
The entertainment team Brian and Vesco were really good but they didn't have much support from the hotel. Pool games great fun and everyone joined in.
The ususal with the sun beds - loads but people still out their towels out.
On the whole we had a fantastic holiday and didn;t let the faults with the hotel spoil our holiday.

We (2 young 50 somethings!) have just returned from a 2 week break at the Thalassaki and had a lovely time. Our apartment was on the ground floor - out of the patio onto a sunbed and a few steps to the right iinto the pool - very convenient. We did think it would be noisy in the mornings with the kids in the pool but the double glazing keeps the noise out and we found we were sleeping in till 10am some mornings. Our 2nd week got a bit noisy around the pool with a large group of geordies but we ventured off to the beach so you have the best of both worlds really. As it is a family complex we didn't see rowdy groups of lads. The beach right by the village was very rocky with a few sunbeds but if you turn right along the coastal path to the next beach it is a lot bigger. Tip - take some 'water' shoes or buy some in the 4 euro shop (dead cheap) so you don't hurt your feet getting in the sea (some rather large rocks and lots of small ones). Once in the water is just like a bath - very warm and so relaxing! Sunbeds are 2.10 euros and brolly so 2 sunbeds and brolly was 6.30 euros. The mini market attached to the complex was very convenient and drinks were very cheap compared to the UK and the people were so friendly. If you are a party goer and enter the square beware the drinks are quite steep so if you head towards pirates and the one with the aeroplane on the roof keep going down towards the Bulldog, Senior Frog and then to Craigs Karaoke bar which has all drinks (including proper Bacardi) for 2 euros until 11.30pm then 2.50 euros after - bargain!! We thought Bedrocks was extortionate!! We hired a 125cc moped for 40 euros for 2 days and went along to Protaras which was just far enough on the bike as a bit uncomfortable. A must for eating out is Raphael's down near the Seahorse bar. The food is although very English very very nice. They do a better Shepherds Pie than home and the mixed grill is lush.
All in all I would recommend the Thalassaki definately for families and I would imagine could be quite noisy around the pool in the peak weeks. We would go there again and yes there were ants but only in some places and mostly out on the patio. Studio was huge and loads of room for 2.

This is my third visit to Ayia Napa, first time staying at Thalassaki. Iniatially I was very worried after reading some of the reviews but on arrival was pleasantly surprised with apartments.
The apartments are in a good location, in need of a bit of refurbishment/new decor but very clean and generally in good condition. We stayed in a first floor 1 bed apartment, which had air con in both the bedroom and living area which was a god send. Rooms cleaned and towels changed every other day. Didn't see any cockroaches although there were quite a few ants running about, they didn't really bother us. No trouble with theft or break ins, we kept all valuables in the safe and left anything of real value at home. Evening entertainment was quite poor, which didn't really affect us as we headed out every night.
Favourite place for food has to be either the Dragon Chinese (Best Chinese I've had - Try the crispy duck), or the Clarabel Flambee (Great food and service), or the Sapporro Tappenakki (Great food and entertainment). All of these are close to the square.
Didn't make the Waterpark this year, but from past experience, it's definately one of the best in Europe... Loved the 'Sun' ride, aka Rise of Icarus, or something like that..
Napa definately has a safe feeling about it. Very little drugs to be seen, and a good family atmosphere if you're looking for it. It's the most spread out resort to go to, with by far the most choice of food, entertainment, clubs, bars and all the usual.
One complaint - THOMAS COOK! What was the craic with the small Easyjet style plane???? Unforgiveable.. The most cramped and smallest plane i've ever travelled abroad on. I'd swear that it was remote controlled...
And HolidayTaxis.com... Ropey cabs I called them :-) But it was an experience on our arrival as we hurtled down the motorway with the driver flicking the rear lights in the transit, 80's music blaring and shouting "Whoopa!!! It's a Dikko Tek"... That was meant to be discotech... Though the return drive was a contrast as we travelled at light speed in complete silence in another 'Ropey Cab', a limo this time, but an experience all the same.
Oooohh! Most importantly :-) There's an english run off licence near Thalassaki (Cut Price Offlicence I think)... €1.10 for bacardi breezers and very cheap for all other drinks, including water...

This is the second time we have stayed at The Thalassaki - but maybe the last. I requested not ground floor with a pool view. Disappointingly we were allocated a ground floor studio (room 3604). The studio was spacious but was overrun with cockroaches. Despite being on spraywatch before going out for the evening, there were at least 3 on our return together with loads of ants. The beds are rock hard and need replacing. The rooms are looking a little tired and need refurbishing. The bath needed a good scrub and the ceiling was loose and black in places. The maid was useless and had not cleaned under the bed as it was filty when we pulled the bed out. On more than one occasion we had to go to Reception to ask for more towels and loo roll. Brian and Tesco (the entertainment team) were brilliant, and my daughter keeps singing 'The King Coracticus'. There were loads of black youths in Ayia Napa the last week of July/1st week of August. They made nuisances of themselves by parading on quad bikes/mopeds up and down Nissi Avenue giving the place a bad reputation. The euro will not help future tourism to Cyprus as it is a very expensive place now. 6 euros 20 was the dearest G&T we bought and it was too strong to enjoy. We could of eaten cheaper in England. I have been travelling to Cyprus for the 15 years and love the place, but may have to rethink future holidays here. Must restaurants are The Hokkaido, Fiji, Clarabel, Los Bandidos, De Medici and Romeos in Protaras - but don't forget your wallet!

Just returned from 2 weeks All Inclusive at Thalassaki Holiday Village in Ayia Napa. We had a fantastic time, the hotel is just what we wanted, close to ayia napa square nightlife (10 min walk) but far enough away to be out of the noise and a 10 min walk to nissi bay beach which is lovely. The larger Nissi Beach is a 25 min walk and in the hot sun is too far so we got a taxi for 6euros each way. The atmosphere at the hotel in the day is brillaint, the pool areas are fab, a designated games pool to play in all day and there were always sunbeds available. There is constant entertainment put on by team who did a fantastic job, can't say enough about them, from water volleyball to football to quiz's round the pool,, they do an excellent job. As we were all inclusive we had a slightly different expereince to most people staying there as they were all self catering, the drinks were great, even calsberg on all inclusive programme, the bar & waiting on staff are so efficient and helpful, the food was top quality both from the pool bar in the day and in the resturant. I think we saved a lot of money goin all inclusive as a lot of people were saying how expensive cyprus was and the food and drink was costing the most. The only dowfall was the fact that we were the only people in the resturant some nights, with a maximum of 10 people, the food was great but atmosphere lacked as self catering people were goin out to eat every night, then there was nobody sat round for the entertainment in the evenings which was a shame as the enteratinment was generally good.
The hotel is positioned well, got good facilities although the beds are rock solid! Did find it hard to sleep at night, you want to ask for an apartment down by the pool as they are the quietest, the ones in the main building are too close to the main road and are very noisey (we got moved from one of these rooms).
Ayia Napa has lots to do, water park is a must, water sports, we did a scub dive and there are crazy golfs and a fair for kids, really enjoyed the holiday, watch out for scratch card touts and PR's trying to get you into their bars, they get annoying after a while, can deffo recomment The Square Bar, its not in the lively square, just on the edge, great atmosphere and live music every night.
The bus to Protatas is only 1euro 50 and we had our best day down there at Victory Cove, the nicest beach on the island! Well worth a visit for the day.
All in all, had a fab time, weather was so hot, the apartments have air con which is great, I would return to the hotel with friends but not as a couple, its more of a base for goin out in ayia napa.

We were moved to this hotel by Thomas Cook after problems with our initial booking (group of 13/14 lads), and we were very impressed. Nice rooms, a regular cleaning service by somewhat enthusiastic non-english speaking cleaning ladies (bit mental), great air conditioning at no extra price, fantastic pool with decent enough music, and good entertainment from Brian and his Cypriot friend for the kids, i still cant get the damn themed-song out of my head.
Adjoined to the hotel itself is a shop with very cheap drinks if you are not all-inclusive and the hotel is definitely close enough to the strip and nightclubs to easily walk there, without being too close.
The only problem i can think of is one room with my friends in was broken into early on in the holiday and we heard many other accounts of other people being broken into, the safety deposit box was very reasonably priced but that was the main downside, didnt seem to have great security in the hotel except an old security guard wandering round the rooms at night.
Overall, great pool, great rooms, great location, didnt try the food as we were self catering, although there was the option to go all-inclusive for 35 euros a day, minimum of 3 days to pay at once, really nice restaurants/cafes (especially the legendary Gary's with some of the best waiters/waitresses ive ever seen) and the only downside being the reports of people getting broken into which seemed to happen quite a lot.

just came back from 2 weeks staying at thalasski village.we booked this holiday because it stated in the brochue that it was for familys, so me my husband,2 kids and my parents were all looking forward to this holiday as we been to cyprus for the last 8 yrs.the place we were staying at was lovely but was full of gangs of lads and girls, which was very rowdy at times, they were drinking bottles of beer in the pool and leaving glass bottles everywhere which is very dangerous when kids are running around. The hotel also had to put security on at night because of noise which woke us up many a time. There was a lot of reported thefts too.All though the pool area was lovely you would often find youths fast asleep on sunbeds surrounded by empty beer bottles which is not a very nice sight. The main road outside the hotel is really bad its full of quad bikes and mopeds which take no notice of crossings we saw a really bad acciedent.I would not rekonmend this place for familys, its more for 18-30 holidays.

Have stayed at this complex twice in 2006 and 2007. Excellent accommodation, very clean and tidy. Lovely Pool and animation staff where wonderful with my daughter. The location is ideal as it is far enough away from main resort to be quiet but close enough to walk to (only 10 mins). The food is as you would expect, different theme nights but does get a bit repetative if staying for 2 weeks. The snacks at the pool bar were great and the milkshakes were great. The staff were very friendly apart from the resident grumpy old man, but we even got a smile out of him! Would recommend this resort to anyone.

We have just returned from a fantastic hol in ayia napa staying at the thalissaki beach village! when we arrived we were pleased with the apperance of the hotel, were checked straight in, and received our pool/sea veiw apartment request and were more than pleased with it, very clean and spacious with up to date decor and facillities. There are many amenities close by, to buy water, snacks etc. most open till all hours of the morning.
We travelled to ayia napa as a young couple looking for a nice resort with great nightlife, and thats exactly what we got. however, even though we like a livley resort, we still require some relaxation, which ayia napa has also, which is perfect. the hotel through the summer season is livley, eg. volleyball matches and music playing, but still quiet enough to get some holiday peace. even though groups of people arrive back to their rooms at 5 in the morning, we were never woken up!
The hotel is situated slightly off the beach, but only a hundred meters or so, a min walk, slightly rocky, but still gorgeous. although we referd it by the pool. There is a costal path round to nissi bay and there are 2 small beaches previous, which are quiter, one being a lovely lagoon. however the quicker way in left out of the front of the hotel, which takes about 20 mins this way and approx 40 mins the costal way.
For meals, we dont know what all inclusive was like, but the resteraunt was never busy, so gathering that most people chose self catering, im pressuming its not much to shout about, but couldnt give an educated opinion, sorry! however if you turn right out ouf the hotel, garys bar has a friendly, english atmosphere and great breakfasts! also the pagoda, if a little expensive.. is gorgeous for chinease food. moo moo is also nice, but the olive tree is one to avoid. however, on the last night, we got talking to a member of bar staff in aruba, who told us where all the nice restraunts were! these, we later found out, are cheaper, as they are more competative, and gorgeous, with a huge choice of different foods. these are located just north of the square (up the left side of bedrock on turn right) where ou will find a huge stretch of eaterys.
As for nightlife, the further up the stretch towards the square you go, the more expensive the drinks, so to start off, we liked the atmosphere in craigs bar and bulldog bar was brill (two gorgeous bull dogs patrol the bar!) then kahula and aruba were our faves. we didnt get much chance to explore all the night clubs but starkys was the place to be, also ice and castlle club. a place called play was just opening when we wre there, and obviously hadnt picked up yet as it was dead, but it might be different now. the nightlife is crazy! but reeally friendly, we hardly ever saw fights, as everyone is there for the same thing-to party! when we went, the exchnge rate was 1.15 at home but 1.24 there, so change your euros there people! as you can see this made cyprus expensive, so barter as many deals out of the promotion staff as you can! most bars do buy 1 get 1 free to get you in so take advantage!
overall this holiday was fantastic, from the hotel, to the people, to the nightlife. i wouldnt recomend it for older couples looking for a quiet holiday, but then it depends where in ayia napa you go, towards the harbour (right out of the hotle for approx 15 mins walk) the quieter the hotels, also nissi beach has a couple of nice ones, but if your looking for a happy medium, thalassaki is perfect. only ten mins from the strip (take the st. opposite the hotel which takes you to the very start) i would also recomend taking a walk around and exploring as there were many things we missed until the last day! all thats left to say is enjoy your saty, im sure you wil!

JUST RETURNED FROM CYPRUS 11TH JUNE, THALASSAKI VILLAGE IS THE PLACE TO STAY FOR FAMILIES, VERY QUITE LOVELY POOL, AND ONE STOP ENTERTAINMENT WERE FANTASTIC WITH THE KIDS, FOOD WAS LOVELY, ALTHOUGH WE DID EAT OUT A COUPLE OF EVENINGS, WE GO TO CYPRUS EVERY YEAR AND THE ONLY THING WITH THIS YEAR IS THE EURO, SO ITS NOT AS CHEAP AS IT USED TO BE, SO ADVISED ALL INCLUSIVE, AS EATING OUT IS QUITE EXPENSIVE, APART FROM THAT HAD A GREAT TIME AND WILL SURELY VISIT AGAIN NEXT YEAR!!

went to thalssaki in july and am returning again this year. it was GREAT.
pool was very nice an clean. always got a sunbed and it wasnt too rowdy. although we were a group of 6 teenaged girls we still like a peaceful day around the pool, and thats exactly what we got.
pool bar did very nice food, dont no about the restaraunt but i would deffo recomend the bar.
maids came regularly. woke us up every day so we didnt need an alarm clock! ha. we did get up late though and it wasnt a problem they were very friendly and just cleaned round us!
the apartments were spacy enough, we werent under eachothers feet and the aircon was a god send. well worth the deposit which you get back at the end of your stay.
the hotel is based in a perfect location for people that want to be fairly close to the nightlife, but not actually in the middle of it!
it has is own small private beach but nissi beach, which is the main one in aiyanapa is only a 15 min walk away or a short taxi ride. you have to bater with the taxi drivers or they will try to rip you off!
close by there are many restaurants which do good value meals and the gratest hang over cure, FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST! there is a bakers down the road called zorbas where you can make your own sandwiches and they are lovely.
overall a very good holiday, would reccomend this hotel any time. well worth paying the extra few pounds and going 4 star. the quality shows and trust me there are some well tacky apartments in ayia napa. would also reccomend amaria which is next door but am a fussy eater so dint really like the all inclusive option

I stayed at the Thalassaki beach hotel for one week with my husband and three young children aged 2,4 and 8.
The hotel was lovely and clean and was cleaned everyday the pool area was also very clean and there were often activities for the children such as water polo or a pool disco, there is a big park next to the snack area where you can watch the children play whilst having your lunch.
I would recommend this hotel to anybody with young children but it is also lovely for people without.
We stayed all inclusive and were surprised by the choice of food and it was always very fresh and hot, overall this was a fantastic holiday and we are hoping to go back again this year.
