Just returned from the Sofitel Taba Heights. Firstly let me say that this has been a fantastic week’s holiday.
I and my wife took our son aged 9 in the school holidays. We were very impressed with every aspect of the all Inclusive. We have stayed in all inc hotels before but this was a true all inc from 11 to 11.
There was an a la carte restaurant but we didn't feel the need as the food and choice of food was so good. The hotel staff really did make you feel very special. The pools are really great right next to the beach and sea.
Everything is so well maintained and attention to detail was what you would expect of a five star hotel! Will go back
We went quad biking for 2 hours in Taba, this was brilliant.
I played golf while I was there. Extremely hot though, course good and clubs that I hired were not too bad.

Best holiday ever. 1 week here was enough to do what you need, relax and chill out.
Snorkelling was the best thing I’ve ever done. The coral and fish are so beautiful.
Did a few day trips but some were very long and tiring but worth the money. Pyramids were good to see but wouldn’t see them again.
Hotel was fab, staff very friendly, food great. The bedroom was cleaned every day with new bedding and towels. Gardens and view was just the best.
Will definitely return in the near future, make sure you take a camel ride, it was fab.

Just got back from a great week at the Sofitel. Last year we stayed at the Grand Azure in Sharm and although that was nice, the Sofitel kicks it into touch.
You would be hard pressed to fault this hotel. All the staff were great, the rooms were large and spotless, clean sheets and towels daily, nice sandy beach, great snorkelling and very good food.
Breakfast was a bit repetitive but that's the same the world over, but each day the lunch and evening meals offering very good well cooked choices of a far higher standard then the Grand Azure 5* buffet.
The sweets were well presented and varied daily. But kids beware!! No chips.
We had a good look around the all 5 hotels there and all felt that the Sofitel was by far the best choice.
Look no further, this is the hotel to go to.

We had heard so many varying reports about Egypt. The five of us who went had mixed feelings, as none of us had been there before.
We had the best holiday ever!
Snorkelling, sunbathing, eating relaxing. Fantastic! People couldn’t do enough for us, even moving a table for lunch into the sunshine for us.
Would be careful going on trips with young children as these could be very long with lots of seemingly unnecessary stops.
We were careful with water and ice cubes but ate everything in sight and had no trouble with stomach upsets.
Just booking next year's holiday to same place same time same rooms!! Never heard of before!

This was our 14th Visit to Egypt and our 4th visit to Taba though not this hotel, so we knew what to expect from the resort and in fact in a short time since we last visited there are now a few shops at the 4 corners resort.
Don't get excited there is still very little to do in the resort itself.
The Sofitel was one of the best hotels we have stayed in and it would be hard to find fault. The staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel itself is well laid out with a good beach and fair snorkelling from the beach.
Our room was good and kept very clean. We had 2 very windy /cloudy days and there was not much seating in sheltered spots would not be a problem in the summer. A room is set aside off reception but it has no comfy seating.
The reception is huge and compared to other hotel's in Egypt we felt it lacked something with plenty of room to put a couple of shop's the one that is there is very expensive sell's a bit of everything but specialises in nothing.
The restaurant is lovely and the food is good I am very fussy and found plenty to satisfy me every day. The choice is somewhat repetitive but as it is well cooked and well presented we could live with that.
The deserts were very tasty with some great decoration that made them look to good to eat. The Chef's, when asked, also brought out anything I asked for that was not out.
All in all this was a relaxing week ticked all the right boxes and we would go back there again. This is the first year this hotel has done AI so is trying hard to make the cross over to AI and maintain standards.

Arriving at Taba's military airport we were pleasantly surprised to see that we were the only flight arrival.
Passport control was quick and easy (you can get cheap visa's here if you want to go to Cairo etc...)And there's only one carousel so baggage is easy to find!
The transfer to the hotel took about half an hour and there is a passport check-point as you enter (and leave) the Taba resort.
After checking in at the hotel we were escorted to our room & our bags followed about 10 minutes later. Although it was dark (at 6pm!) we could see some lovely views from the balcony across the pool area and out to the Red Sea.
We found the La Sultana bar and then found that a £1 tip really does go a long way with the waiters, and ensures your drinks are continually renewed throughout the evening!
Sakara is the beer on tap which is acceptable and the is a limited cocktail menu (the pina colada's are lovely!!)
The buffet restaurant has theme nights every night and the food is of a good standard.
The a la carte restaurant (part of a "Dine Around" scheme which allows you to try restaurants in the other hotels) is quite expensive, especially as you have to buy your drinks despite being all inclusive.
The snorkelling is amazing especially around the hotels' own beach and it’s as good as you'll see. We took a boat trip to snorkel and (although it rained a little and was cloudy) what we saw was no better than what we had for free at the beach!!
The hotel grounds are beautiful and the whole place is spotless. The beach is very comfortable and there are windbreakers if you get down there handy. There are 3 pools - 1 freshwater, 1 salt water & 1 heated, plus 2 Jacuzzi’s set around the pretty pool area.
There is very little to do in the resort although a shuttle bus will take you around the hotels & up to a couple of souvenir shops & bars.
The golf course is well kept but quite difficult. If you do want to play, remember to take your own glove, balls & tees as none of these are provided & are expensive to buy there!
The evening entertainment was minimal with a bit of dancing by the hotel staff, but they also have belly & traditional dancing and karaoke. Pool tables are available at a small charge & the belly dancing lessons around the pool are really fun!!
The full body Thai massage topped off my week of relaxation & was totally worth £30. We had a great week & would recommend it to anyone who wants a quiet break.
Trips are available to Cairo, Jordan & Israel & perhaps next time we'll get to try some of them!

Just returned from 2 week holiday at the Sofitel (16 Feb - 2 Mar).
We went with our 2 year old daughter. Had a fantastic time.
Weather - Excellent, a few windy days but still very hot
Food - Very international but very good, we used the dine around (discount from other restaurants within the area) for the Pub Tandoori and the Sofitel own Japanese. Both are highly recommended.
Staff - The best ever, at first you feel awkward, asking yourself why are all these people being nice to me, what do they want, RELAX they are JUST being nice
Hotel General - clean, new well designed and laid out.
Will definitely be booking to return later in the year.
If you have small children they are well looked after by the staff, nothing is too much.
Abdul the head chef cooked chips for my daughter every night, especially for her. Any thing you want just ask and they will make it for you.
Entertainment - This was as expected, just enough to keep you looking towards the stage, but that’s what we expected. We run a hotel in Blackpool and just wanted to relax and that’s what we did.
100% Recommended.

Just got back from Sofitel, Taba Heights. It was fantastic. Such good value for money!
Our weather from the 2nd Feb- 9th February 2007 was not brilliant but it did not spoil our stay.
The hotel is beautiful. My husband and I had a wonderful time. The staff can't do enough for you.
We intend to go back.
Not sure I want to tell more people about this place, I would like to keep it to myself!

We got home from Taba and the Sofitel, last night, and I just felt the need to let people know my opinions on this hotel and the area.
I took 2 special needs children, and a third child (my boyfriend). We had an absolute blast. Ignore the comments that you get on some reviews and make your own opinions when you get there.
Service - Excellent
Rooms - Excellent
Staff - Excellent
Entertainment - A little lacking but it is considered winter (plus we didn’t need it)
Excursions - Great but expect to spend money. It is a holiday after all.
Food - At every meal I could easily find something I liked. Plenty of choice for ALL worldwide clientele. So don't expect 500 British meals to suit you. Expect them to account for ALL people.
The only things we really considered lacking, was as I said above, the Evening entertainment. It didn't start until 10pm (which was an attempt to keep you in the bar past the 11pm All Inclusive deadline) and was very scarce. We as a family didn’t need it though, so wasn't really a worry.
There are no facilities in the room for self service. E.g. kettle. So take a travel kettle. Also, you cannot actually purchase drinks from the on site shop. They are not allowed to sell them.
This is to encourage people to pay for drinks outside of the All Inclusive times of 11am-11pm. Although you could get drinks if you went into the restaurant outside of these times, e.g. 6am at early breakfast starting times.
This really is a struggle to find fault though. You could buy drinks (soft drinks etc) outside of the hotel at the Three Corners shopping area and take them into the hotel. (Which we were told wasn’t allowed at the other hotels in the resort).
You regularly were stocked with a LARGE supply of water in the room (each day) and the fridge in the room was overflowing. We have every intentions of going back, with or without the children. Absolutely stunning resort.
It is never going to be a "get up and go" place, from what we could tell, but, if you made it known you wanted to "get up and go" the staff were more than willing to fulfil your needs.
Absolutely fantastic!

Overall a wonderful holiday. Taba itself is very peaceful. All the hotels in this resort are fairly new & therefore offer good facilities.
The Sofitel itself was excellent value for money. The room was beautiful, with a huge double bed, walk in shower & TV with about 5 English channels. The bedding is changed daily & the room was always cleaned well.
The food was excellent, much better than I expected with service to match. They had a theme each day, so for example French day offered predominately french cuisine.
The Hotel had three pools & its own private beach area.
The weather was a little windy at times, but the beach offered sunbeds with wind shelters, so you could still relax in the glorious sun!
There are small jetties from the beach into the sea in order to gain easy access to the reefs, for some excellent snorkeling.
Would fully recommend if you are looking for a quiet sun holiday, but night life is minimal in this resort & the entertainment in the hotel itself was pretty basic, although the staff are very friendly & the service was fantastic.

Just returned from Christmas in the Sofitel Hotel.
Wow, best holiday we have ever had! The hotel really went to town celebrating Christmas. Every palm tree had lights, there were Christmas trees in every restaurant and bar - it was fab!
The food was absolutely superb. Lots of choice and really delicious - and as for the desserts - heaven! Even my finicky 6yr found plenty to eat, although I must apologise if there is a shortage of chocolate ice cream when you go - all inclusive is the best invention ever, when you have kids.
The staff were amazing, the hours they work and yet they always had a smile on their faces. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt like royalty at the way they looked after us.
Mohammad in the restaurant was great. From picking flowers for my daughters every morning to making sure our glasses were never empty, he was exceptional! Fouad in the Sultanna bar (aka my son-in-law to be, he bought my six year old for 50 camels!) came every morning to see us and really looked after us, yet again with alcohol! My one tip is to take a little blonde 6 year old with you - Fabulous!
The kids club were great, they did a show in the bar on Christmas day with the children - it was amazing, 4 costume changes and the choreography was awesome!
Try the aqua aerobics, its great fun and the dancing at the end is a real laugh. We made a lot of new friends in Taba, tourists and staff alike and none of us wanted to leave - we got a lot of kisses!
I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to completely relax and be pampered. We are already booking next Christmas at the Sofitel. Roll on December!

Thought I would add our thoughts on the Sofitel.
This was the first time that we've been to Egypt and was alarmed by the overall tight security on arriving in to the Military Airport in Taba.
The First Choice flight was a farce as the cabin crew were completely in the dark about the Visa requirements in Egypt and could not spell Sinai correctly (Spelling it Cinai) so you can imagine the amount of service request buttons being pushed on board the plane.
Generally you only need to buy a visa if you intend to visa Cairo - IF you intend to stay in the Sinai (Sin-a) peninsula then you do not need to purchase a visa but just complete the entry card and write Sinai only on the back.
Also at the airport, ignore the men hanging around the transfer coaches who are only too willing to lift your suit cases in to the coach for a couple of sterling pounds - do it yourself and save money! Transfer to the hotel was swift only some 45 minutes.
Check in to the Sofitel was again a bit of an unknown task as once we had checked in and been given our all inclusive bands, it was not made clear what to do next or indeed where our room was located, so I’ll explain.
Basically go to your suitcases which should be outside and a hotel man will come and ask you for your room number - he will attach a card and the cases will arrive to your room within 30 minutes - Again, the staff are only too helpful to show you to your room again expecting a tip! Once settled, as we were out of the 11am to 11pm all inclusive band, we had to pay for refreshments - water and a beer was some £6GBP.
The room was lovely could not fault it at all. Most rooms come with a sea and pool view. Be aware that the rooms are cleaned daily by men - Women are never to be seen!
Also, he will only leave one small bottle of water in your minibar per person per day - but if you tip him he will leave an extra bottle a day! Although there is some building work in progress in front of the hotel is was no big deal and we really never saw/heard much activity as it was simply too hot to work!
The Hotel does have tight security and if you leave the hotel to go to Three Corners Hotel/shopping centre your bags will be searched and you will have to go through a metal detector.
There is a 30 minute shuttle train (bus) that goes between the hotels and it’s free to use it so we ventured to The Three Corners to look around - Not much daytime activity here but certainly a cheaper place to get cigarettes then at the shop in the hotel.
The entertainment was something out of dad's army - well worth missing - we went outside on the terrace at 10pm take in the relaxed atmosphere of the coast.
The beach is probably the best place to go as it’s away from the noise of the pool and it’s quite private. As it’s a private hotel and beach many westerners were ignoring the muslin culture and going topless.
The food at the Sofitel was, we feel, good. There was something for everyone.
Every night was a different food theme night - Our favourite was Italian as the pizza was great. The selection of meat was varied but mostly beef and fish. They always had rice and pasta available and what looked a good salad selection - Deserts was great too. Sorry kids no chips.
The breakfast selection was the same everyday - omelette to order were good too and the beans on toast.
There is a lot of worry that you would get food poisoning from Egypt, but I think that in most cases it’s over indulgence. You're on holiday - loads of food to eat and as much beer/spirits you can drink - Along with the high temperatures its bound to cause you a problem - I suggest that you do not drink ice cold drinks and eat moderately and keep hydrated you should be okay -but take Imodium plus with you in case.
Keep a few of the water bottles from your room and keep filling them up from the water dispensers scattered around the pool area.
We were going to try the Indian restaurant (le Asianatic) but decided not to after reports of funny tummies the following day. There is a BBQ everyday by the pool but it’s not great mainly burgers and hotdogs - I was a bit annoyed on day the chef was in the toilet and was horrified that he failed to wash his hands- yuck!
The First Choice rep was okay - She said that there was no duty free at the airport - there is and it’s cheaper than the hotel for cigarettes but the shop is small.
There seemed to be a high selling element to the welcome meeting with representatives from Waterworld doing a slide show and the rep was really trying to sell her trips - The only problem was that some of the trips were long days on board a coach to Cairo - We opted for The Blue Hole which was good - Jeeps drove to the shore and we had a 40 minute (painful) camel ride to the blue hole.
We then did snorkelling around the blue hole which is an 85 meter deep hole in the sea bed which as lovely coral and fish. You can hire snorkelling gear for a few quid or take your own.
It’s worth paying £25GBP to have your room later as check-out is at 12noon. Our pick up time was due to be 1745 but due to the security issues in London at the time we were delayed - by paying the extra for the room we managed to keep hold of our wrist bands to continue with food and drink.
Taba airport is a dump - Check in and then proceed through passport control - This is the point to buy your duty free from the limited stock - Although there are signs saying no bottles in hand luggage and many people were throwing their water bottles away - many people were allowed to take their water bottles through in to the 'departure lounge' (more like dump) So much for airport security.
There are airport men hanging around the toilets and will sell you toilet paper - so may be wise to take your own and ignore their begging. Security at Taba is rubbish - a security guard had his son with him and decided to play football outside near runway whilst we were watching him through the doors. Glad to get on the plane.
Generally a good holiday and would return for a chill out time. If you've booked to go here then you will be pleased with your choice. Go and have a nice relaxing time.
