Minimalist elegance
from JennyOntario
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Arco Iris. The rooms are gorgeous and owner, Richard, is friendly and helpful. Attention needs to be payed to a few details, which I've noted below. If addressed, Hotel Arco Iris will be one of the pre-eminent boutique hotels in Playa Tamarindo. I would recommend to others and will consider staying here again. Highlights -restaurant is absolutely amazing! -clean rooms, comfortable beds -lots of closet space; room safe -mini fridges are stocked -location (quiet, near lots of...

After having spent a few too many nights in mildewy hostels, I walked by Arco Iris and decided I'd give it a shot on my last day in town. The place is indeed newly remodeled and it looks absolutely fantastic. The pool is great, the bar/restaurant is great for sipping cocktails, grabbing some free breakfast or checking your email (free wifi.) The rooms are gorgeous. Beds are comfortable, there's remote control air conditioning. You can have a TV. There's a nice big closet and the bathrooms are something you might expect to see on...

A Great Place to Stay
from JJJann
My boyfriend and I loved this place. It reminded us of how Pasatiempo was in the past, small, peaceful and a great place to make new friends. Even though we were there during the rainy season we still enjoyed ourselves. The owner, Richard, is a friendly person and quite helpful. We spent many hours on the patio reading and playing cards, The new pool is perfect to cool off in when it heats up. We definitely will return here next year!
All-Around Great Experience
from Rosco55
My girlfriend and I recently stayed for a week in Tamarindo. One complaint...wish we would've found Arco Iris sooner. Despite the continued construction, I would definitely recommend staying here...an absolute bargain for what it includes. Richard and his new manager are very friendly and helpful (both speak English). The bungalow-style living is WONDERFUL. The bathrooms are redone and very nice. The beds are very comfortable (something I found a rarity in Costa Rica), and the lighting and bamboo ceilings really add to the...

A Secret Place
from BostonRoger
My husband and I loved this place. It's small, intimate and quite peaceful. We planned on spending two nights here but extended to one week since we felt so comfortable. The hotel is under new ownership and completely renovated from what I was told. The price is budget but the amenities aren't. It was great to have a fridge and TV in the room. And the new pool is perfect for relaxing. This place is definitely worth a stay.
Good location and friendly staff!

I loved this place. Three other friends and I stayed here after quite a bit of research, away from the hustle and bustle of the main drag in Tamarindo. We stayed in a private bungalow with a balcony, where we all congregated each evening to play cards. It was perfect. We were after a place to rest and relax, since most of us had just finished taking the bar exam. This certainly did the trick. The new owner, Richard, was very helpful and informative on things to do (and not do). He was almost always available when we wanted to discuss...

loved the arco iris

My boyfriend and I just returned from a trip to Costa Rica. We found this hotel listed in the Frommer's guide and booked it after seeing it's website. For the price ($60 night) it was a steal with all the things we could possibly want. The bungalows are adorable and nestled away from all the construction and noise of the main strip of Tamarindo. We had A/C, which is definitely needed if you are going during the dry season, a comfy queen sized bed, small bathroom, mini fridge, safe and wardrobe for our clothing. The floor of the bungalow is...

My sister & I found the hotel through Lonely Planet. The only discrepency btwn the book and our experience was the new ownership and it was far more beautiful than imagined. Once owned by french sisters, the place is currently owned and operated by a hospitable, outgoing man named Richard. My sister & I arrived in Tamarindo late and were greeted at the hotel by security. Although, we did not speak spanish & he did not speak english, he telephoned Richard (owner) and put me on the tele. Richard would not be back until a bit later,...

Monkeys!

The Hotel Arco Iris is in a great location about 200 meters off the main strip of Tamarindo and the beach. The main strip gets pretty busy so it was nice to have some solitude away from the crowds. The hotel is well kept and under new ownership. The owner, Richard, was friendly and helpful, and since he is relatively new to living in Costa Rica, has recently visited a lot of the sites to see and has good info on what to do. If you want a good location for a reasonable price, I'd recommend you stay there.
we loved it

My ten year old son and I stayed there for about 2 weeks and used it as our home base. The Italian sisters were smart and kind and Chiara is friendly and precocious. My son reminded me of their chocolate fondue this morning and said that Costa Rica was his favorite vacation. They arranged an excellent horse back riding tour and we surfed everyday with "Banana Surf Club" just down the street (<---highly recommended) and had fruit smoothies at the local stand nearby. We also both had an excellent massage, ate well and were very...
