Horizon Karon Beach Resort & Spa

After staying at the beautiful Le Meridian Phuket the year before and wanting to visit Phuket the following year also, our budget was a little stretched so we picked the Horizon Karon Beach Resort and Spa.Initially we were a little disappointed as the grounds were over grown,they were water blasting the stairs on our arrival and the only acess to our room was via these stairs and unfortunatley they continued water blasting! We have recently returned from Phuket having had 14 excellent days at this hotel. We were particularly interested in the facilities for children as we have a four year old son. Within seconds of entering the hotel the staff were looking after our son! He considered the staff to be his 'friends' within the space of a few hours - we couldn't believe our luck! The hotel is excpetionally clean with, often, twice daily trips to the room to make up beds, replace beach towels etc. Timing of these always seemed to fit in with our needs.... more

we stayed 10 nights in this resort and must say that we were pleasantly surprised. having never been to asia before we were a little worried at first, but our holiday turned out to be a good experience. the resort is very well managed and the staff cannot do enough for you, the rooms are cleaned everyday with beach towels changed as well. the pools are very clean and relaxing. we tried the bar b que night around the pool and had a great time, food was excellent and the guitar player and singer were good too. the breakfast staff are... more

Asked the travel agent for a room with a pool or sea view. Instead we got a view of the doors to other rooms across the way. The travel brochure sea facing pool view room as did our itinerary. It was very hard to get through to anyone there as to what our problem was. In all fairness they did offer to move us to the Patong Horrizon but as we weren't able to view the Patong room we declined the offer. For all we knew it could have been worse than where we were.

This place was exactly what we wanted for a relaxing week away. The rooms and service provided was more than we expected. The staff were always polite and helpful. The room we had was clean and looked after by the great house staff. Breakfast was a real treat with fresh local foods as well as top omelettes etc. The resort also provided regular transport to phuket as part of the deal. The day spa people were very good and clean. The restuarants nearby had great local food at good prices. I'd go again :)

We recently returned from a 3 week trip over xmas and new year and were thoroughly surprised by the lovliness of this hotel. We had originally booked the Grand South Sea in Khao Lak but were told a couple of months before our departure date that the hotel would not be ready until February. We reluctantly booked the Horizon in Karon Phuket which was not an area of Thailand that we had planned to visit as I was told Phuket was like Benidorm!! Patong might be, but Karon beach is lovely. We travelled to the Horizon in October and had a wonderful stay. We had a 2 year old and the staff spoiled him rotten. The Bell Boys were very helpful and the Tuk Tuk from the bottom of the hill in the middle of the day was very welcome. The free shuttle bus to Patong Beach was also a bonus. The Buffet breakfast was very good and the breakfast staff were very helpful entertaining my son while we finished our breakfast. I really recommend this hotel for family or couples. We (family, 2 Kids/10 &12) have just returned from a two week stay with a group of friends (M& F - single/24-44). The hotel is beautiful. A new resort with clean rooms, lovely pool areas and lush gardens - it is also very secure. Our main negative; the confusion experienced with the staffs lack of english or more importantly our lack of Thai! My family and I stayed at the resort for 10 days during November. We found the hotel to be well worth its 4? star rating. Staff were exceptionally friendly, especially the Breakfast crew. Always a smile and salute from the Security guards. The ever present hotel Tuk Tuks made the 300m trip from the hotel to the beach effortless. We spent 10 days at this hotel in early December and found the staff, facilities and surroundings excellent. There are a lot of stairs and steps, but nothing that anyone of average fitness would not be able to manage. We stayed in a Pool View room, which was great value, but then up-graded to the Club Wing with a Pool Access room.
