Gran Bahia Principe Premier

When we arrived at the resort, We were greeted promptly and rushed to our rooms. The rooms were very clean and upto date. The resort is very clean but the serivce is poor. First you HAVE to use the little door indicators to let the cleaners know not to enter the room. We had cleaners comming in at 8am while we were in bed. I am the type of person who does a TON of research before I go away. I have to know what to expect and don't like to wonder anything. Which means I was on this site quite a bit reading reviews and the good ones are pretty acurate. I traveled with Transat Holidays and stayed in the Royal Golden Club. Well worth the extra money. My husband and I just returned yesterday from BPPC after a wonderful 25th anniversary - 5 day vacation from May 26-30 2008. We are a mid age couple from Puerto Rico. After searching and reading many reviews of different hotels at Punta Cana, I asked a co-worker who travels to PC every year about a resort and she recommended Bahia. We visited the resort in March 08 - me, my wife and 2 kids. We all had a grea holiday - the resort is very big but has a train that runs constantly. The speciality restaurants are excellent the best we have had in the Dominican R. Beautiful beach. Good selection of pools - all very well maintained. Nice big rooms, well serviced. Great weather. bad points - lobby bar service sometimes bit slow and could do with more staff - unfortunately if you flashed the dollars there was more chance of getting served quicker. This is a very nice and well run resort. As we have stayed at other Bahia Principe resorts we were upgraded to the Premier section. This was a nice touch, but I think we would have been happy without the upgrade. As others have noted, this is a large (and still expanding!), but easily navigated property. The shuttles are very convenient. The pools, bars, grounds and overall service were very good to excellent. The beach is fantastic. Just returned from Gran Bahia Principe (28th April 08 of us from England met family and friends from Canada for a wedding. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels etc all over the word this was absolutely spot on. We have no complaints what so ever. ( we have come to realise over the years that some travellers go out of their way to find problems, our attitude is go to enjoy not to find fault. We had a marvelous time. This was a family vacation, but since our kids are grown ups, it was different. We were met at the airport and driven to the hotel, and the fun started as we arrived. My sister and her friend were there, having arrived the week before. They shepherded us through the check-in process, but the staff were so friendly and accommodating, it wouldn't have been a problem in any case. This was our second time at this resort- why take a chance when you are pretty happy overall the first time. If you are uncomfortable with mingling with folks from Russia, Poland , Italy , Quebec, Spain, England and dealing with people who do not speak good English, well .... stay home and freeze. We recently returned from Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and in good shape. The entertainment and drinks were plentiful and the pool was wonderful as well. There were very times that I didn't notice the cleaning staff working around the grounds. The only aspect of the hotel that I didn't enjoy was the food. On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a 4. Don't expect too much in that department. Got back from the Bahia Principe, Punta Cana on March 28th. First of all, I must say that DO NOT TRAVEL WITH AIR TRANSAT. Seats were cramped. Imagine sitting for 7hrs in a cramped position. The flight attendants were good. They knew that the plane was packed and crammed as well. As far as the hotel is concerned, it was absolutely wonderful.
