Flamingo Hotel

If you are looking for something different in Cozumel, this is the place to go. You feel like you have found a secret hideaway that no one else knows about. It is not like all of these cookie cutter resorts that I have stayed at before down in Mexico. The place has a lot of charm and the staff was great. I have been diving in Cozumel since 1983 and have stayed at some of the pricier resort hotels and some of the very cheap hotels downtown. Hotel Flamingo is a very pleasant alternative; reasonable rates, an excellent bar and restaurant and congenial host. As a diver, I spend enough time on and under the water. I don't need a beach. Hola All, This is just a note to let all people who like a clean room at a great price know that they can find it at the Hotel Flamingo. This was my second stay at the Flamingo, once (2003) in a room, and now in the Villa with my adult children. It should be noted that I use a hotel room for a place to leave my stuff, and get a good nights sleep. Stayed recently and was disappointed. While the architecture was quaint and location was very convenient to downtown, as a guest I found too many other things to keep me from recommending. Saw a rat running thru lobby into kitchen, had many bugs in room, had hot water two days only during my stay. When room was cleaned daily, sheets were never changed. Staff was very helpful when there but unattended frequently.

Not only was I impressed with the facilities of the Flamingo, but the food was worth the stay alone. The hotel has a new chef from Chile who is creating some really tasty dishes. The dinner with the Shrimp tartar and the japonese cerviche was great. They included a full breakfast in the room rate as well. Love the bar atmosphere with the cuban music, really sets the mode and great spot to meet others. Hotel Flamingo is a great hotel for the traveler in need of clean, quiet, comforatable accomodations. We have stayed at many hotels in the Cozumel/Playa/Cancun area which have been considerably bigger, and certainly more expensive, yet none have come close to providing the laid back cozy atmoshphere with a tast of real Mexico that the Flamingo offers. Hotel Flamingo is a great place to unwind and enjoy the beauty that Cozumel has to offer. I enjoyed the fact that it was within walking distance into center of town- close but not too close. The hotel/dive package was great - I'll never forget my experiences beneath the ocean. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was friendly, helpful and laid back. Be sure to go to the roof and kick back and enjoy the beautiful view!

I visited Cozumel last July, and stayed for a couple days at the Flamingo, after moving from another hotel I was not happy with. I had read some good reviews about it, and decided to check it out myself. This is definetely not your typical "budget hotel", since you really get value for your money! Hotel Flamingo was a breath of fresh air for us weary backpackers. Clean rooms, great service, and a good location, close to the main plaza, without all the noise. Loved the hammocks and the rooftop baclony - great view of the ocean. Tom, the owner, personally made this experience memorable by showing us the beautiful beaches on other side of island. WOW!!! The Hotel Flamingo is a great place to relax and really feel the authentic Cozumel experience. The hotel is superbly decorated, the food is authentic and fantastic, the bar/restaurant area can be both exciting and relaxing at the same time. The multi-level decks and palapas offer a true multi-level Cozumel feel of the life on the island.
