El Taj Condo Hotel

Playa was an amazing place with so much to do. We stayed in the Penthouse sweet 345 which was a 3 bed room with a humongous roof top patio. The El Taj is so beautiful we actually had some younger kids taking pictures of it from outside. The lighting at night is spectacular...pictures do not do it justice. It was especially nice to hang out on the roof top patio that had a fridge, hot tub and tons of space and privacy. My companion and I spent 3 nights at in Playa del Carmen and stayed at El Taj, unit 27. My only regret is that we couldn’t have stayed longer, which we will on the next trip. I would love to get this 1 BR unit again too, because of its ideal location within the complex. The whole development is brand new, located right on the beach. We recently stayed at El Taj Oceanfront (as opposed to Beachside, the sister property directly behind), a 1BR/!BA with our two toddlers. The unit we stayed in (#27) was very roomy, very nicely decortated and equipped with a great kitchen The view from inside the unit was great, right out to beach and ocean and the location was literally just steps to the pool, beach and a great restaurant (Indigo). Traveled with my spouse and 10 year old over spring break and stayed at the El Taj Oceanfront. The hotel/condos are recently completed and in immaculate shape The staff was very friendly and helpful and maids did a great job keeping the unit clean. We stated in a one bedroom and had a mattress brought in for our daughter to stay in the main area (worked out fine). El Taj was recently remodeled, and everything feels and smells like new! Beautiful decoration, arquitecture, and facilities, very zen feeling as soon as you step into the condohotel. My in-laws, my husband and I, and new btoehr in law and his girlfriend stayed at the 3 bedroom penthouse, and the noise from the clubs was not an issue. The new El Taj Ocean is by far the best Condo/Hotel on Playa Del Carmen. I stayed in the Penthouse overlooking the beach and have included a few pic's. The new beach is awesome and with the addition of the Indigo beach club at El Taj you do not have to fight for chairs and the food and service is second to none. El Taj was about 90% done the pool and hot tub which looked awesome we couldn't use but if wanted we could use El Taj Beach. El Taj was absolutely wonderful. The Staff was was very courteous and helpful, the location was superb, and the amenities were top-notch. If you are able to scrounge up two couples that you do not mind sharing your quarters with this is also a very economical way to travel to Playa Del Carmen. We stayed in room 306 with two other couples, and this room offers a penthouse complete with hot tub, grill, refridgerator, outside shower and plenty of seating room. In the interest of full disclosure, my wife and I are Travel Agents. After much discussion with our clients, we booked several units at the El Taj. Never having been there, and with only the website pictures to go by, it was a bit of a dice roll, but we went for it anyway. Our initial contact and customer support prior to booking was really quite good. The booking staff were most congenial and very forthcoming with info and recommendations. The condo is situated a few minutes from the beach and 5th Ave so the location is fantastic until you want to go to sleep !! We were originally booked into Villa Sacbe which is another site owned by Condo Hotels but our room had a leak so we were upgraded for the night to El Taj. After staying in El Taj we decided to stay on and upgrade (we did get a discount but the list price was $487 per night - rather expensive for Playa Del Carmen). EL TAJ MAY 4-8TH 2008. We arrived around 1:30 to find our room not quite ready. We were staying in room 306 (penthouse w/ 3 bdrms & 2 baths). They let security take up our bags so we could at least put on our swim suits. NOTICE: There are NO ELEVATORS!! Thank God security carried up the bags!
